The Ghost of James Pringle: The Devil of Buckholm Tower

- Buckholm Tower, ruined, oppressive, haunted, stands on a hill to the north of Galashiels, in the Scottish Borders.
The Tower was home to a wicked man called James Pringle who had a fierce hatred of women and anyone who stood against the government.
Did his anger cost him his very soul?

Another spooky 'treat' for all who care to wander the path to 'Eerie Edinburgh'. The tales themselves, the visuals, the background music and the atmospheric Scottish 'lilt' of the narrator.......we're being spoilt, fellow wanderers!!!!!
What a lovely thing to say. Thank you 😊
Just found your channel, I live in Selkirk near Gala and my mum grew up in Gala. Her dog in childhood (in 1950’s) would not go near the tower…she always said it had a horrible feeling
Excellent tale of the cursed Earl who seemingly got his come uppance.A cruel, evil man he was.Really enjoyed it,thank you for sharing 😊
Thank you. Hope you're well 😊
I am thank you ...I hope you are too ..😊
I had not heard this tale before; thank you.
Nice re telling of the tale 😎👍. Gala, like most places, is a pleasant enough town to visit but has had it’s troubles in the past. I recall my ‘family box of documents & photographs’ in Kelso having a handwritten adoption letter for a child taken from it’s mother who was allegedly a ‘shameless drunkard’. The letter had some ribbon affixed to the bottom with a dark red blob of sealing wax. The letter went on to pour scorn upon the immorality of the townsfolk and the town itself. I imagine that it was from around the time of the Industrial Revolution and that epidemic of cheap & plentiful gin in that timeframe. Folks would be coming off the land as they were cleared to make way for grazing sheep & cattle, the promise of work in the mills attracting them to the towns. Sub standard housing arrangements for minimal wage workers…….Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Liverpool….all the same tale of woe from the Industrial Revolution and movement off the land 🤔👍
That's true, we don't hear much about the impact of the Lowland Clearances, as terrible as the Highland Clearances. On a different note, i know of a current haunting in Gala that might make its way into a video one day 👍🏻
She cursed him well & proper, she did.
Aye, that she did 😊
A better ending for the wicked Earl was not necessary as he certainly got his cumuppence for all his horrible deeds . Never knew of this story before and i fair enjoyed it, i look forward to hearing more from you soon.
Thank you, glad you liked it 😊
Imagine being haunted by that man?as a female i shudder thinking about that.I wouldnt go near that place.Galashiels btw is such a cooool word.Thanx eerie xx
Thank you 😊 if you've watched The Ghosts of Liarn Farm, its where my parents moved to after living there so i'm down regularly. The Scottish Borders are a bonnie area.
@@eerieedinburgh I haven't seen it but I've been 'armchair travelling' recently and it looks awesome..Also been researching history more thoroughly scotland looks AWESOME.Some of that country reminds me a little of some parts of australia
@@raindog428 It is a bonnie place. Always hoped that 'when i grow up' i'll move up to where my folka lived or over to the west coast. The beaches there are beautiful, plus no sharks! 😄
I could listen to you talk for hours ❤ 😊, thank you for all your hard work, I really appreciate it 😊❤

Happy Friday indeed 😄 hope you enjoy 😊
Happy Friday from Northern Nevada❤
@@susanbutler2542 Happy Friday to you too! 😊
That's a spooky one!
If it wasnt surrounded by a metal fence, i'd have been able to include some video footage. Ruined towers are creepy enough, but this one is a wee bit creepier!
This curse seems like an inversion of the time effects from the 1408 room curse. Instead of every hour restarting over to infinity, every year seems like only a few minutes that is repeated over and over. A few minutes of terror and pain begging for help, a few minutes that becomes infinity.
Yet another wonderful tale told .. Absolute stellar narration sir . Always thankful , Jeff in the USA👍👊
That's interesting about Pringle Knitwear. I cant think where the tower is. Thanks again, another great tale 🙏🙏💕💕
Here again Eerie ! Your videos are the best of their kind anywhere ! ❤❤❤❤❤❗️

@@eerieedinburghDreich 😂I love explaining the meaning of that wonderful Scottish word to my English and Overseas colleagues 😂
Just came across this one which I had missed-- another enjoyably spooky episode, which, along with the local history and characters, I find fascinating -- just love this channel!
I damn well hope it does. Again, a fascinating account of local lore and subsequent haunting. I'd not thought it possible, but this channel gets better and better.
You've made my Saturday, thank you 😊
I so enjoy listening to your stories ty
Thank You for the video ❤
Good story.👍🏻 What a cruel man! One thing puzzles me though, his wife and son left him during one of his drunken sleeps never to be seen by him again, what happened to them? A man as powerful as the Earl would probably have run them to ground very quickly by putting searchers out. Was it ever recorded where they ended up? I'm suspicious that he might have killed them and hid their bodies. Back then it was not easy for a vulnerable woman and child to survive without means to. Perhaps friends/family hid them? Thanks for the vid.😊
My pleasure. Its certainly possible. I can't find any mention of them after they fled, i hope thats due to them escaping unharassed...
@@eerieedinburgh Yes i hope they did get away, if she did she was a very brave woman, good on her!🙂
Wowwww!!!!!
Good "wow"? 🙈😊
@@eerieedinburgh Fantastic wow!!!
@@pinkcarnation231 Too. Kind. 😊 thank you.
That was a very good tale well told. I enjoyed it very much. I do hope you have something special in store for Halloween. It’s never too early to start planning! 😁
Haha! That is true 😊
Great video once again love it
Thank you 😊 your support is really appreciated 👍🏻
What a nasty piece of work he was. It does not surprise me at all that the place is charged with negative energy. 🦇
It really does have a thick atmosphere. I took a wander there today.
We can make our time here part of heaven or hell and the Earl made life hell for himself and those around him. He deserved the life he already made for himself in the afterwards.
That he does, some of the stories weren't suitable for CZcams so i left them out. A wicked man though.
Horrible man! I don't believe in Hell, but there are some people who deserve it. Good thing God is more merciful than me!
Och the mannie was just misunderstood!!!!!NOT
🤣
I believe Covenanters stood for what they believed in, be it right or wrong. Standing up to a King who tried to enforce his will upon them, at that time took some bottle, they faced execution merely for having a Bible in their pocket. I think it was Walter Scott who said they were "hunted down like deer". This man deserved to be freaked out by whatever nightmare haunted him, long may it continue.
what happend to the old lady?😱
Its believed she was left alone, thankfully 👍🏻
