The difference I think is that you actually USE this kit. Many will talk about the kit, and many will put together a kit, some will even have the skills to use that kit, but few will actually use the kit at all. Great video…as always.
@MachizTV: As someone who hikes with a similar kit yet rarely uses more than 10% of it, I feel personally attacked by this statement.

You forgot how they post numerous times about being excited about going camping or post pictures of the kit and or new gear they never use. Maybe we could just buy some of these complete kits at a discount from them for extra bags.

Great Kit! The only suggestion I would add is a small personal first aid kit, plus add a small knife sharpener to maintain the blade.

All that stuff is so new and clean .
My dedicated camping pack is a very old Microsoft promotional day pack for LAN parties, with a waist belt. I've sewn it up so much it looks like a field pack, with bank line and jute stitches on the seams. Pocket for a water bottle. The laptop compartment is perfect for a dry tarp. Tools and toothbrush in the pen and pencil holders. Bedroll and tarps tie on easily, and I've made a frame for it before, for a tent and sleeping bag, extra gear. But it's a good hiking around, exploring bag all on its own, and comfortable. Heavy weave, but it takes silicone well and stays dry.
Side pockets and compression strap on the pack would be a must for me , ability to put a water bottle on the outside , and strap a saw or small hand axe.
Every time you say in a second, your time is up!
It's so fun to see the differences of bushcrafting between Germany and the US. :D German bushcrafters: Fancy water repellant outdoor clothing which withstand the impact of a falling tree and only the most expensive military backpacks prooven by elite commandos in the northern hemisphere. I've had my GR2 for many years...I use it every day, Have traveled extensively with it everywhere, multiple countries, etc....it still looks like new. Absolutely best backpack I've ever bought
Love your simplicity on your emergency pack based on the ten cc’s! Yes, in winter more items are needed to counteract the cold, therefore cold gear is needed. Looking forward to a video on your current pack!!

Not my preferred system though. Which is based on British army three layer belt kit kit system
1)Trouser belt with main knife always attached.
2)On webbing belt+yoke: from right hip
Water: Crusader cup bottle and cookset in pouch.
Fire:2x mess tin pouches with food and firekit stuffed inside cooking on hexamine folding stove.
Shelter; poncho roll +/-hammock
Security: machete/axe
3) Small backpack for colder weather/ overnight items ie insulation/sleep system

Enjoyable video as always. One thing I would like to add. Packs that are held closed with just a zipper are useless if & when the zipper breaks. I’ve had this happen twice while rock climbing. That’s my experience anyway.

I use the FAST pack EDC by TAD. (Triple Aught Design). Very similar design. Same price. About 2L more of space. Strong and lightweight w/ 1000D Cordura. So, much more durable. It's a great organizer. As well, similar prices. I would recommend the EDC by TAD over this for its durability and modularity combined with more pockets and features.

I love gorucks gear. Ive had a gr1, bullet 15L, and rucker 3.0 20L. Got rid of the gr1 to fund other gear purchases. Their rucks are bombproof

My Bag: Hamoc with RainFly, Underquilt + good SleepinBag. Really Easy to take down and stash for the day when you go have fun, its only 2 carabiners, wrap it in your camo RF and stash. Make 2 stashes!, 1 bed, 2 everything else. 2- 21 amp Ankor solor charger for your phone+ 2 battery packs. Polysporin, Tape ToiletPaper and Bathroom supplies. Knife, Clothing rolled up military style. Extra Chords. Food Subway. Guitar and Stuff for the beach :) As for axes and saws ect, you should already have that stuff stashed previously. :) Its a great way to explore a new city, and its quite good weight wise. Also some Wet Naps... lotsa wetnaps :)

As society gets weirder low key packs are advisable. Last year I swapped my old faithful coyote combat pack covered in MOLLE for a dark, almost forest shade “dark army green” with limited MOLLE. It’s a good pack for EDC but my next will be full on civilian in appearance. For tactical applications I did pick up a new Helikon pack but that’s being kept in reserve for a time that we hope never comes. Great video, brother

I have a possibles bag and carry a fire bag in it when flintlocking after Christmas. I always know where I am, but sometimes things don't look the same dragging one in the dark. LUCK is on the side of the prepared.

I am in North Florida and not long ago we had our first cold front. The next day I went camping thinking the cold front was done. I was wrong 🥶.
I had recently replaced the sleeping bag, which would be too warm, and took a flannel sheet which was not warm enough.
Now I am packing a lightweight thin quilt, soon it will be my heavy, bulky sleeping bag.
I did make it through the night though. I was wearing pants, socks, and a sport shirt, with the sheet. I woke up cold and got my pad to put in the hammock. Later i woke up chili again so i put on a lightweight jacket and slept good.
I love Hill People Gear packs. However, the GR1 Goruck is hands down my favorite pack. I never leave home without it. I do wish is had slash pockets for water bottles. The HPG Umlindi is a close second.
Man I really appreciate your videos some of which have shown me a few things, but seriously throw a tooth brush and tooth paste in your kit most underrated needed item.

Loved the video. Small boo-boo kit or first aid kit is good to have. Always try to have one when I mountain bike. Slips in my camelback. Mesh pockets on the gr1 is like most clam shelves “small”. I usually keep a buff,instant coffee pack,and a beard comb in my pack(maxpedition agr riftcore). Granted this is my edc pack, could easily used as bike or hiking day pack. But the hidden gem of this video is your CORPORALS CORNER hoodie lol. Would love to see you guys to do a collaborative project.
That was an awesome kit and gave me several ideas of things to add to my kit. I think you meant wandering bushcrafter instead of wondering.
You're sensible as usual. I carry a couple of additional things that you didn't mention which are some basic repair stuff for the ebike/tires, and a toilet kit w/trowel. I have some different levels of packs depending on how long/and far I intend to go. Basically I grab a bigger pack of stuff for a day hike as opposed to a morning walk in the woods. All of my options include a backpacking sized poncho, a few tent stakes, and line. This is regardless of whether I also have a tarp or not. (Plus the basic "5 C's")
I add five parts to my core emergency 1st aid kit ...
1) an old military can opening/spoon. Kinda spork with heavy duty can opener.
2) ferro fire lighter.
3) extra aluminium sheet ...
4) Au military houtchie
5) 100% wool double blanket.
The rest is standard industrial first aid.
(keep in mind, this is Northern Australia - no snow; lots rain or desert country. With lots of biteys)
I have a lot of other*stuff* in the car; but that is bling (full HF/land mobile; fridge; solar; batteries; food; repairs etc - but they are "extras" = not going to work on foot).
I have a back pack that is fuzzy on the out side so as when I am hunting it is quite so not to scare the moose. In it I carry fire bag with faro 6inch, and belt knife with a lanyard of survival cord.cotton char, a small pice of fatwood, biclighter, duct tape. All so in pack is a military poncho, compass, 2 pair of gloves when cold out, head lamp and small flashlight, extra socks and wool hat (we call them toques) extra cordage ( par cord and survival cord).A small fish kit with sewing needles water purification tabs and water bottle. And a very small first aid kit. Knife sharpen. If I get geologically confused I should be good to go.

i don't know if you understand any German but i found this awesome 7day survival challenge series by some german dudes in sweden: 7 vs Wild by Fritz Meinecke. they have a bunch of of backup safety stuff but its really nice to see how these guys hold up in a "real" survival situation. thougth i share it here with anyone capable of the german language.
ive never been a fan of the headlamps, but i think im coming around. i bought a nicer one about a year back that i still never use, but i recently bought a cheap one to throw in my electrical bag. getting tooo old to wire panels in the dark or trying to pinch a flashlight between my neck, and im kinda liking it. getting another cheap disposable one for the go bag might not be a bad idea.
I’d like to suggest a special forces flashlight, best one I have ever had. It is a small rectangular thing with swivel head. Fits into my jean pockets. Water proof, four different lights, takes two double As. Clip it to your vest or pocket, lasts very long time.

so my 4-5 year hiking light camping i learned what to take ( to my needs ) will it stand up in actual survival situation 50-50 ( better then nothing ) but I am glad I don't go unprepared so it depends on you type of activities and some items come handy in even comfort items ( like hat or jacket or container or matches even the tarp and safety item like axe or bear spray ) so after 4-5 year i got it 😊✔👍

I can attest to the Exotac gear... they make quality gear. I have several of many of their items including those you have shown and live them all. And GoRucks are bombproof! Great video Dan! BtW, where's the food? 8-)

Try out the helikon Tex bail out bag for your winter kit. Even better clamshell type design. I will say not nearly as overbuilt

Hi Dan, Nice kit! I do notice, there is no first aid supplies of any kind. I alwais have some bandaids and stuff in my kit (also used to have some when I was still biking a lot).
I'd add a saw, or a buck saw blade, even if it's the saw on a Victorinox knife.
Or a leatherman
Bahco laplander is light and useful.

I would like a little bit bigger pack yet have the same kinds of gear. Bigger in case I find stuff or for some reason get more later.. I don’t like a “ton” of stuff. Although, I’m heavy on shelter. Second, reasonably priced and yes I understand you need to make money. One note, I hate “dangly” stuff on the outside of packs

@@stuartknight2174 Too little features for too much money the gr1 alone is 325$ and apparently they're moving alot of their production overseas now too so if they're asking the same prices still for foreign made at the price of their usa made stuff thats a big not interested from me also. Plus the absolutely worthless "Ruckplate" holders in it the whole bag just looks like the whole Bro douche workout marketing splashed with cheesy and lame ass "special forces proven" nonsense marketing.
