On Gentle, your voice shines for singing and Rapping its crazy on Forward any harmonic setting.
Forward & Soft harmonic mode sound very good

The u87 doesn't help vocals IMHO but I feel you
Most versatile mic out the box right now is the Lewitt 1040. Whether it covers exactly what YOU want is another question but WAY more flexibility than this.

My guy went on a date with Eden and had him nervous 😆 trust I love microphones too and I had the same feeling with my mic
I've heard it alongside the U87ai and it doesn't quite beat it in my opinion but the difference isn't that big. I prefer this mic on the gentle setting with hard harmonic shaping compared to the TLM 103 though. You should have ran those settings for rap vocals too. The other settings aside from that aren't different enough to make this feature that desirable imo.
I think Lauten is just trying to do things different for the sake of it. I think what people want instead of Forward, Neutral, Gentle is a mic that sounds like:
F: Better sounding than the Telefunken ELA M 251
N: Better sounding U87 AI
G: Better sounding U67
With their 38mm capsule, I expected more.
I thought the same thing. it doesn't have that nice midrange like the u87ai... To me it's sounds too bright and doesn't have enough human feel.
I have the U87Ai and while it's fantastic for classical flute and female vocals, it's horrible for my voice. I don't have a really low voice but my voice is kinda dark and the U87Ai exaggerates that. I always have to do really heavy EQ to make my voice sound good with it. But it does have a really thick crispy sound!

My goto vocal mic has been the Neumann tlm-102. It's from there more budget friendly line (still nearly $1,000 🥶) but it sounds so good that I haven't used anything else since getting it. Have you had any experience with it?

This mic is HARD! How do you think it compares to the Telefunken TF39? (I'm looking at buying the TF later this year) Might have to change my objective and save up a bit more after hearing this thing.
The tf39 is amazing, it punches out of its weight class and is what I would coin the best mic in that price range
own both. Eden is on another level. TF has the piercing/cheapish high end.

Okay I’m just starting to get my own equipment… what’s a good entry mic not something to cheap but also not so expensive? I’d say around 200-400 range
for $500 go for the sony c-80 if u want super crispy clear vocals, check it out
Under $400 I'd go with Audio-Technica AT-4040 or Rode NT1-A depending on the genre you recording and if you're only using the mic on yourself or producing other vocalists
From my experience I prefer the NT1-A for rap/male depper vocals but like the versatility and clarity of the AT better, specially on male singing and female vocals on this price range...
But you can make both sound great with the right EQ/compression settings on the mixing stage.

A fam what's the deal with compressor that don't have threshold settings like the 1176 for example
The threshold on those particular compressors are determined by the input knob, the more input you give it the more gain reduction you will be receiving. Just make sure you gain match by dialing back on the output knob of the compressor.
For rap vocals…what you think has the better sound and clarity…TF47, TLM 49 or WA 8000?…
Rap vocals are just vocals. Get the right mic for the voice.

Despite how the microphones sounds, I'm so furious to find out that the Eden uses capsule of Chinese origin. At this price point, almost all brand uses capsule that are built in house. I felt cheated.
No such thing as the only mic you will need unless you are dealing with limited needs.
That's not a put down of the Lauten, it's just a reality.

I didn’t like the mic but then I was like nah I’m used to the c800 but when I gave it a listen it is a good mic and this is a mic I would use for singing and mainly Afro song but rapping wise no I would choose a c800

Foward/Neutral and desser for your hip hol vocals and just a tad bit of compression nothing past 2/1
i am sure i could stack two WA87s, WA2A, Warm EQ P and get a very similar from any interface sound.
But I am going to admit that it is an incredibly good sounding microphone. Radio ready and Modern. I am not sure you could call it anything other than a modern vocal mic.
Or stack 2 Ksm 44 or two K2 and still kill em.

@@stevenjohn9665 i actually did a vs with my Eden vs my friends ref c and we preferd Eden in forward with the hard filter on. Was sitting better in the track. But might depend on the source. Was a hiphop song and he had a tenor male Voice
@@Daviddosi It always comes down to the specific voice and of course preference and taste.. Theirs been times where my Mojave Ma-200 suited my clients session better.. But more often than not the Manley wins hands down.. Well, let me clarify - they make mics with better utility than Manley. Manley Ref mics are really just for vocals. Lauten can cover a lot more usage.. But Manley is the better mic for vocals.
