- Marky Ramone sits down with Troy Hayden to talk about the drummer’s new book: Punk Rock Blitzkrieg: My Life as a Ramone. He shares stories from his life in the band, meeting legends like Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison, and the legacy the Ramones will have as an iconic punk rock band.
Good interviewer, that's rare. He seemed to take a genuine interest and did his homework and showed respect for a very iconic band of pioneer musicians. Well done.
I could listen to Marky all day. A smart, insightful ambassador of the genre. God bless ya man.
Marky looks just great here!! Very well spoken as well...
So Marky is the Ringo of Ramones quite literally! 👌
" It was a dump, but it was our dump" best possible way to describe CBGB
Thank tou Marky, but my love for your Music started with the DUST. I was 17 years and the music was best I have heard and it still is my favorite. Love the Ramones too :) Thank you and the band. -Greetings from Norway !!!
My favorite drummer in music. He is a true Ramone member always will be.
He may not of been one of the originals, but he is the Definitive Drummer of Ramones! :D
Dust his previous band is killer too.
I so agree 👍
Marky ramone was a brilliant drummer and the ramones were a great band.
John Smith *is a brilliant drummer.
@@NorthCascades He is not dead yet. Don´t kill the last Ramone!!!
He still plays with his Ramones tribute band Blitzkrieg
He was no Tommy Ramone.....
Tommy had a different feel than Marky; a little more swing and sway whereas Marky had more powerdrive. I saw both several times and both were very good, just different.
I met Marky a couple years ago, he signed my cassettes :)
Hugely respectful rocker man! as a drummer I really appreciate his talent, steady, fast and always on time backing the wicked riffs for the Ramones, Marky also played drums for my other favorite band Teenage Head.
Before the Ramones, Marky drummed in Dust, as well as the Voidoids, but he was never in Teenage Head.
@@JMarinelli He recorded an album with Teenage Head.
@@philipnicholson4843 Shit, that's right! Sorry about that!
Good interview seems like a cool dude.
Marky Ramone was our drummer when we were in Jr HS in Brooklyn NY.
Thank you for sharing
This guy is definitely a fan from back in the day ..... Good interview
I remember Marky Ramone as Marc Bell in the band Dust! Mid 70's!
imagine that pounding sound reverberating thru your head while riding in that van. from playing every night. their hearing had to be adversely affected.
What an amazing mainstream interview. Good thorough and not condescending. He read the book......
CBGB WAS A DUMP but they had a great sound system. Everyone sounded great at CBGB.
I love you Marky
I hope I get to meet him one day.
ITS BLITZKRIEG BOP
The Hearted Official He called it "Hey Ho, Let's Go" haha unprofessional.
Yehhh, the blitzkrieg bop legend
I would like to see in his lifetime some focus on his drumming talent .
Seems like the main attraction is the Ramones celebrity role and a lot of people think
he does a simple fast 4/4 beat and that's it.
No one does what he does and if anyone really watched what he did with The Intruders
and Misfits performances I hope they would be able to notice that he went far beyond
most notable punk drummers pull off.
I would say he has to be the Buddy Rich of Punk Drumming .
It would be great that if he layed off the public Ramones icon
status for a year or so and churn out some new recorded material
that includes (not showcases) some of his most complex high speed punk drumming along with other styles he can do with precision. It would have to get marketed differently . The only thing is that would be a very "Un-Ramone" like thing to do. I don't think he would be into that .
Marky never making mention of CJ is pretty classless in my mind. Whenever he talks about the last tour he says Dee Dee. I'm sure he remembers that Dee Dee was out of the band at that point. I wonder why he's so quick to slight CJ?
Marky was probably drunk again.
The Chrysalis years were a pointless mistake
@121privateidaho YOU were a pointless mistake
... okay that's rude and I don't mean it, but they put some good stuff out in those years even if it wasn't as consistent as the older stuff.
@@runnersdialzero1244 From ®0MULOU$ M@©~LoUD, yes your right 👉 on both points. However, the band had obviously ran its course by the late eighties and looked directionless there after. I guess, it's easier with
hindsight and from outside looking in to see
that sometimes but I recognized that at the time and still believe it.
ad recognized that at the time and stil
CJ got Marky’s niece pregnant at a young age and left her.
Awesome interview!!!
Fox Phoenix with Downtown Manhattan backdrop???
the real roots of what became popularly known in the 70's as punk rock are found in the garage bands of the 60's. btw/ where is that econoline van?
my husband is a long time fan as far back as the cbgb in the bowery.
Wiggy Ramone
That would have been a better name for him. I'm surprised Joey & Dee Dee never wrote any songs about his wigs.
I Fucken Love The Ramone 10/10
I can't believe he was going to join New York Dolls. Thank god for that because Marky deserved to be in Ramones.
Richie was better.
Crazy how many people got influenced by the Beatles Ed Sullivan appearance. So many young greats were watching that night
❤Marky❤
Best move he ever made was accepting the invitation to join The Ramones.
Right but he had a pretty good resume when he joined them.
@@meatwad1 you are correct on that
I love The Ramones.
Would u guys get a ramones vinyl signed by mark ramone even if he is not the orginal band member I'm thinking of going to this convention tmrw to meet and get an auto on a record?still be cool to meet him
Based on so many interviews with Marky I've seen, I'm guessing his resting blood pressure is about 60/30.
I wonder what year this was? Miss the ramones most of them are gone.
Unless I'm mistaken, they're all gone now.
@@mjrydsfast marky is alive along with bunch of other ex members
He met Jimi Hendrix. 😍
Marc Bell. Great guy.
My name is Ramon irl
Those shoes would have went great with my duct tape purse, it had all my favorite bands (Ramones we're centered) stickers on it.
Probably the Ramone I care about the least, Joey said it’s a wig he’s wearing 🤣
My favority Ramones' Drummer.
He had a heavy style. Richie was a better fit.
Rock n Roll legend.
Grandad, whats a tape?
Fox fenix com Manhattan no fundo???
Sill no mention of his time with Wayne County
Ramones Better world
He is rocking that wig !
Why do you think it's a wig when it has grey hair in it.
@Aurora Jelly Criss Ramones Joey said, 'Marky tried on lots of wigs and we all laughed at him.'😂
Shah Rukh Khan will look like Marky when he'll be older.
It was a dump, but it was our dump - Marky Ramone
A great influence for young people. He advises against drugs, drinking. He advocates a good lifestyle. Great guy
This argument is stale. Put all preferences aside, and the Ramones are the Godfathers of PUNK rock. And regarding playing covers early on, name a band that doesn't. It's ridiculous to even argue about it.
Marky Malone,all alone, without Jesus
gene simmons of punk
what bout sex pistol Charge GBH and Exploded and the Clash
The Ramones preceded those bands. Look it up.
I'm friends with his twin brother on facebook :D His brother is very nice.
Punky Ramone what's his name?
+SmackFappington his name is Fred Bell
Does he have a toupee on?
Ninox111 yep. He's always worn one since the early 80s.
It’s a full wig I think
Pelicln
Cosplay Ramone.
Marky Ramones thew only band the real are PUNK
Terrible wig. The worst is the Gene Simmons wig. This is in second place.
Marcus Tube lmao
The ramones "the band that created punk rock" WTF?
+Joe Waggy What do u mean WTF? They were.
Pistols came 1 year after the almighty Ramones
Stooges were before ramones...
So did the new yoork dolls and so on but stooges arent really punk.
Stooges weren't really punk? Of course they were
Naaah id call them a rockband.
The worst Ramone told everyone about joeys cancer, wrote terrible shit about him on the web, claimed joey had two girlfriends before he died, claimed he visited joey in the hospital, and didn't even go to his funeral.
+Bitchesgotnotaste He's an attention seeker. Found out myself when he freakin' banned me from his stupid facebook page for no reason. Such a loser.
Marky visited Joey then called Johnny and said time was running out then Johnny put away the phone
Terrible wig 😅
Richie ramone was a better drummer
Yes I’ll give you that BUT the band didn’t play well with Richie live-way too fast and they sounded monotonous then. Richie created some better work on their albums and stretched them in different directions. When Marky came back they got their classic live sound back
As the saying goes... Your band is only as good as your drummer.
I think this guy never actually understood what he was doing. It's bizarre that he never mentions Richard Hell - who started Television, invented the "Punk Rock look" & wrote classics like Blank Generation - since he was Richard Hell & The Voidoids' drummer and made 2 albums with them. In these interviews Instead of explaining that the music industry doesn't want to promote Rock'n'Roll because it has an agenda, he just repeats platitudes. And he must be wearing a wig too, since when he joined The Ramones in the late '70s he already had a receding haIrline...
He has the worst wig on the planet
