  • How Can You Save Buckets of Money with Bubble Wrap?
Simple. Bubble wrap sticks to your windows with static electricity. Encase it in window wrap and use thermal curtains for a 1-2-3 punch in waste this winter.
Particularly important if you have drafty windows. All it takes is a little time and about 60$. With all the money you save you can get some gourmet hot chocolate to enjoy the extra comfort you'll get.
Few things have a two month payback like switching to LED bulbs or bubble wrapping your windows.
A drafty window is almost as bad as not having a window at all. No matter what you do this year energy, and money, will fly out the window this year. Unless you want to freeze, but even that has its price. Here's a better way to reduce losses.
    What you will need:
    1. Curtain Rods
    2. Thermal Curtains
    3. Bubble Wrap
    4. Squirt Bottle (on the mist setting)
    5. Sharp Scissors
    6. Sharpie
    7. Hair Dryer

    But Science?
I'll stick to the practical physics of why this is so effective.
Heat is transferred in three ways
    Conduction
    Convection
    Radiation
Conduction is when two surfaces of different temperatures touch. Since your adding three barriers, in particular the insulation of the thermal blankets this cuts conduction way down.
Radiation is perhaps the most interesting. Heat is light. Being able to see out a window means all that energy stored in the thermal radiation spectrum just departs your warm abode to heat up the great outdoors. Not good. The thermal side of the curtains also helps a lot.
Convection is the most effective way to transfer heat. Just like an air fryer warms up your chicken better because heat is uniformly distributed around the chicken and cooled air gets cycled away from the chicken (or tofu) so do drafty windows transfer your expensive heated air out to melt some snow.
What's really cool about this technique is the shrink wrap creates dead air in-between the window pain. Then the bubble wrap acts to provide more dead air and cut down on conduction by acting like a blanket at the same time. Dead air is the best way to stop convection, because no-air-movement...
All together this is a triple blow to the gut of energy glut that you will see on your heating bill.

This is the most effective method. Both the bubble and plastic wrap.

Best way to do it. Also add window insulation foam or tape to windows and lock windows prior

Thank You so much for this video. 👍 I have a second story window . There is a bird size chunk of glass in between the lower combination. (That has fallen from the top hafe.) The window is screwed shut. It's snowing in Nebraska. I'll bet it went up 20 degrees in the house.

I guess this isnt a stupid idea!!!! I was thinking of doing this for my car. I live out of it ( by choice) as a means of saving money right now. I work third shift so I sleep during day. I have the Weather Tech window shades. I would be nice to have some transparent ones for the daytime. Since i already have a template should be easy to make. Wonderind what I could use as a middle then put the bubble wrap around it something foldable and clear.

Why windows needs to be wet first before you put bobble wrap

    • @sol.green.energy9515
      @sol.green.energy9515  Před rokem +3

Good question. The moisture helps make a bond with the bubble wrap., like static cling so it stays up. Then when its wrapped inside the window wrap there is a vaccume so it stays up all winter (most of the time).
