  • Back in Feburary 2018 I purchased a new John Deere X750 ride on mower. In this video I give you my honest review of it. For various reasons I am replacing it with an Iseki SXG327 tractor mower.

    We have two of those John Deeres at work and the parking brake has issues with the yellow plastic lock off it does break and has a few times, the other mowers mech is so much better, and the JD is pretty loud especially when your on it for something like 3 hours, great comparison thank you :)

    As a lawn mowing business owner, out of these two machines, I going off this video, I would pick the Iseki if I were in the market for a new mower. It looks like it's built with a more simple and robust design and torque is definitely something that is better to have over horsepower, especially when you're getting into the heavier, longer areas of grass. The John Deere looks more like a finishing mower than a rough cut and the Iseki looks like an all-around mower that can do a rough cut and leave a finished cut look. Awesome video.

    Well. That’s that for the John Deere then, I like that one and I actually did some grass work on that myself. It always struggles with my grass even though I mow it every year. It just came that way, now I’ve seen this I’m thinking of getting an iseki (or however you write it) the one thing I don’t like is that it can’t bag. I’ll miss it on here since I’ve been here since.. your fs15 days! Dang I’m old ;)

    • @jd_railfan
      @jd_railfan Před 29 dny

      if you maintain the grass well, bagging isn't really needed. grass seems to be greener when mulching. but then again when it comes to removing leaves, having a bag would be great.

    I have the older version of that 750, a 740. Basically a very similar machine with a different bonnet and dashboard. The engine is BULLET PROOF, as is the gearbox which is the best part.
    It is a fantastic rough/neat-ish cut mower, but the mulch plug system is utter rubbish. It is now 20 years old, has a deck shaped a bit like a banana, and has bits falling off, but it starts every time and never misses a beat. I love it and will be really sad when it eventually goes. It's retirement is just cutting the farm drive and a few long grass areas so hopefully it won't go too soon.

    I remember reading on some forums about the IH 9.0 Liter V8 diesels in the 1980s medium duty trucks. There was one guy who had said that the one that ran faster (higher rpms) always had issues and the one that ran slower was still running about. They were public service trucks so you know they were getting worked hard. Its pretty cool that yall get diesel lawnmowers over there. Here in the US we mostly have gasoline lawnmowers. I can't speak on newer stuff though as I have never used them.

    • @ram89572
      @ram89572 Před 28 dny

      You can get diesels over here too, but they only tend to be on bigger, very expensive machine. I deliver mail and had a package for a person one day and they were out mowing. Had a big Kubota zero turn with a diesel and man that thing was so quiet, it was awesome. Compared to hearing a standard loud gas engine running, that sounded much hear ear splitting. But I certainly wouldn't want to pay for one that expensive. I have a JD x570 that I bought in 2017 and even back then that machine was 5 grand.

    I actually do prefer the iseki definitely after you explained the specs between the two it’s never good to breath in exhaust fumes all day not healthy I think John Deere needs to look at there x series ride on compact mowers for future models because the exhaust design needs to be moved maybe at the back of the tractor don’t know and the plastic indicator brackets are definitely a weak point from how you describe them
    I think the iseki is better for fuel consumption and performance on the grass cutting then the John Deere I like the look of the iseki it looks like a new holland tractor the roll bar does has potential for a light bar and spot lights maybe but then night work on grass cutting is never really done much but it’s a idea it definitely looks like the iseki is cutting the grass really well I hope you enjoy many hours of fun with your new compact tractor daggerwin and I look forward to seeing more of this new iseki in action on your other channel daggerwin extra as well in the future

  • @dominickthornburghakaTRG

    I used to have an older JD riding mower and the way you would back up with the deck on was simple.
    I would just pull back on the spring loaded deck on/off switch start backing up and let go of the switch. It would stay on as long as you kept backing then snap back to the normal On position when you drove forward again.
    Just a half second hold them release as you back up, and now you have to hold a button down, and not be able to use that hand for steering.
    How did it get worse with newer ones. smh

    Just out of curiosity how big an area do you have to mow?- I’ve a very basic x110 and find it ample for an acre-ish.
    The other thing about JD decks is they seem to rust very badly. The powder coat seems to be poorly applied on all the ones I’ve seen and I ended up stripping and under sealing/repainting to give it a longer life. Always seems like a weak point on what is usually considered to be a premium mower.

    The mulcher on the Iseki really did some excellent work, but I think you would be better off cutting and baling for the extra cash.

    Not sure if it's in the same catagory but ever since I've worked with the husqvarna front mower I've never wanted go move back to a middle mower

    The "shake" of the john deer motor, is the sound of the engine stallin. may be due to need of oil change. or too low idle. i dont know john deer that well but if they have automatic idleing there must be something off with it.

    Don't think they sell those Iseki mowers in the US. I have a JD x570. Does fine for me with what I do. Of course mine isn't a diesel like these. It has something about like a 20ish hp Kawasaki gas engine (well petrol in your terms). And yes I share your absolute hatred of needing to hold a damn switch to keep the deck on in reverse. But that Iseki with the auto-restarting deck is much nicer than the stupid way the deck has to be turned off and back on. I hate the RIO switch so much.

    Does your Massey compact tractor not have or is it not capable of having a mower deck? Those are some expensive tractors, and I’m never sure why someone would want to pay for a X700 series. Moving up to the 1025R (if you have them in England) isn’t much price difference but has worlds of capability more then the X series.
    If your Massey can’t have a under belly mower, I’m sure they have dedicated mulching decks for the 3 point. If you just wanna buy lots of tractors, I can’t fault you there, I do as well!

    I'll take the Iseki over a John Deere any day. Sadly Iseki doesn't sell their machines as a first-party item here in the states. They usually make machines for other companies. My Massey Ferguson GC 1723E is made by Iseki and uses far less plastic than anything John Deere offers. It was also $4,000 cheaper than the competing John Deere as well.

    3600 rom on a small diesel engine sounds much :P But i come from a world where the ideal rpm range is between 900-1200rpm :D
