Angelina inspires me to do what I can to help make the world a better place, so I am asking all angels and others to spread the story of Narges Mohammadi. Angelina was just recorded here at the Nobel Peace prize ceremony in Oslo Norway, performing Unchained Melody. She paid tribute to Narges, who is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two twin children, who are 17, spoke on her behalf at this event. The more people who are aware and call for change, the more likely the leaders of Iran will set her free. Acts of kindness, is what Angelina always reminds us to do. We angels, need to honor Angelina by doing what we can to be kind to others. The smallest acts of kindness can make a difference.

To add to the other comments, Narges Mohammadi, the Nobel Piece Prize laureate is currently in prison in Iran for her activism for human rights, specially women. Also, to say her twin daughter and son and her husband were present at Angelina's performance.
I think this information gives the true dimension of how she interpreted the song, not as romantic love as we know it but as love towards Narges and the wish that she's freed soon ♥

What a fascinating and intimate interpretation of this mithical song, absolutely suitable for the occasion of the tribute to Narges Mohammadi! I was moved to see and hear Angelina singing in such an incredibly mature and charming way, this wonderful version of a fantastic song and so appropriate to the occasion, 8 years after the last time, in the same studios and with some of the musicians who accompanied her as a child, when she took her first steps into her musical future. Here Angelina was simply fantastic and "unchained", a singer who has already sung on 2 different occasions at the Nobel Prizes and at just 17 years old.💛🧡❤

Angelina is in Norway because that is where the Nobel Peace Prize is always presented. She is the only singer in the world who has been asked to sing more than once. She sang at the age of 8 for the Nobel Peace Prize for Children's Peace Price. Also while she lived in Norway she sang very of with the Kork Orchestra so they know one another very well. This song is very apt because it was written for a movie of someone who was in jail and longing for his loved one. This Nobel Peace Prize is being given to a lady from Iran who has been jailed for a long time to fight the oppression of woman in Iran. Also Angelina's gram Mery Zamani was born in Iran vso this has a lot of meaning to her. The words are meant for jailed lady's husband and twins a girl and a boy who are present at the award. Shows what a really loving and precious young lady Angelina is.

There are a lot of great singers. Only so many make it big.
That is a fact, and unless Republic Records has a amazing master plan concealed in their so called "World Wide Promotion " they spoke of when she signed with them when she was 14 then I have reason to be worried. Right now I can thing of at least six female singers that have better voices than Miley, and even Taylor that do not get the attention they deserve. Then there are the ones "Over the Hill" and still trying to make a huge comeback. This means the competition for a place in the mainstream is not a rosy picture. Sometimes t feels like it is not a great voice, or immense talent that people seek, it is who can "Perform" the best while showing the most skin. Just my humble opinion. I want to see Angelina carve her place in music history wearing high end gowns. perhaps she missed her chance, and should have been a singer back when class, and elegance reigned supreme such as actress Audrey Hepburn, or when Jackie Kennedy was the first lady in the white house.
I was at her concert in Portsmouth when she did a newer version of this song but as great as it was leave it to Angelina to outshine herself with this rendition as it beyond explanation how this amazing young woman can bring the emotion she does to this song, not doubt hands down in my opinion the greatest artist to put a microphone in her hand.

Magnificent! Every time I listen to her performance for this concert I am blown away by the utter beauty of her, her voice, the orchestra, this performance. I'm not sure our ears can feel more love than this. The recipient for this year's award was Narges Mohammadi, an Iranian dissident, now in an Iranian prison for her outspoken messages and activism for women's rights. Narges' two twin children spoke on her behalf at this event prior to Angelina's singing. They are Angelina's age and haven't seen their mother in years. She was able to speak with both before her performance. I'm sure this performance was a very poignant moment for Angelina--one quarter Iranian herself, and whose grandmother Mery is full Iranian. If you watched any of the videos of Angelina, you know the love between her and her grandmother is palpable--it's a beautiful thing to behold. I loved everything about this performance, and I appreciate your obvious appreciation as well

Dani, it was a pleasure listening to your warm and sincere reaction to Angelina, how wonderful is she. She has ultimate confidence in herself and thusly she wraps herself totally into the song she is singing 'for us'. Angelina always wants us to feel the hope and love in the message of her music. The recipient of the award is someone who is in prison, a woman standing up for woman's rights in Iran. Her twin children (a boy and a girl) were at the Ceremony to accept the award. I recommend you find the video and hear the story. Angelina chose this song to sing because of the relevance of it's words and she poured her heart and soul into it's message. My hope is that the authorities who have imprisoned her will listen to Angelina sing and perhaps they will 'see the light' and understand she committed no crime and allow her to reunite with her family (currently residing in France).
Dani, you might want to know Angelina was born in Oslo (where the Nobel Peace Prizes are always awarded) and this is the second time she has performed at the event (the other time was when she was, I believe, 8 or 9 years old (she sang 'What A Wonderful World') and she is the only artist who has ever appeared twice at the annual event. What a wonderful gift it will be for humanity if she is set free.
robert Angelina is NOT the only artist to appear twice at the NPP concert. There are several, including Sinead O'Connor, Kylie Minogue and Wyclef Jean.
Another reactor stated that she is the first to appear twice before the age of 18. That may be more accurate.

The singing is hers. You can find an acapella Version from the summer and in Portsmouth she did nearly the same slow down.

Arrangement is usually collaborative when we get to the complexity of an orchestra. She indicated the way she would sing it and no doubt the music director had to write the specifics of instrumentation. I have no doubt KORK and Angelina have collaborated like this on Summertime and Back to Black. We saw this in a video about Back to Black. More so here no doubt ten years later.

It takes more than just a great voice to become a superstar these days because the world if full of great voices. Many people wonder, will Angelina become another Adele, or perhaps a mainly jazz singer like Norah Jones. It is a known fact that Angelina will have to place more emphasis on drawing in the young music fan if she is to succeed. Most of her fan base right now is much older. Her subscribers has gone from 635K back in 2021 when she did her Christmas special, to 878K today, but that is still low compared to some other singers her age. Republic Records songwriters have to come up with a mega hit song to attract the masses of all ages for this worthy singer.

It is all about Narges Mohammadi, recipient of this years Nobel Peace Prize. Her story is one of great courage, advocating for the rights of women.
Narges, is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two children spoke on her behalf at this event. Most of the performers were Iranian.
I thought "Unchained Melody" was a odd choice for this event, but have since learned the history of the song. More on that later.
Certainly Angelina was thrilled to be performing back in her home country of Norway, where she is a national treasure, but this performance goes way beyond that honor. She first performed at the Save the Children event at the 2014 Peace Prize event, when she was 8 years old.
We know Angelina's grandmother, Mery Zamani, grew up in Iran and was a prodigy for painting and poetry. We can imagine the conversations Mery had with Angelina about Narges. This performance had to be extremely meaningful to Angelina and her family. I hope all the angels will spread the story of Narges and her mission, with the hope for change.
In 1954, Alex North was contracted to compose the score for the prison film Unchained (released in 1955). North had a melody he had written in the 1930s and composed and recorded the score when he was asked to write a song based upon the movie's theme. North asked Hy Zaret to write the lyrics. After first refusing, Zaret and North together wrote "Unchained Melody. Zaret refused the producer's request to include the word "unchained" in his lyrics. The song eventually became known as the "Unchained Melody" even though the song does not actually include the word "unchained". Instead, Zaret chose to focus on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time".
The film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or completing his sentence and returning to his wife and family. So indeed this song fits along with Narges being in prison and her two children, and the rest of the people who embrace freedom, calling for her release.

this level of complexity. Angelina applies the 'breathy', 'whisper-like' releases
she learned from Billie Holiday and incorporates them with her personal delivery
that brings forth the most emotion laden, penetrating rendition of this song I have
ever heard. It's only fitting when you realize it is a tribute to a brave woman who is
languishing in an Iranian jail for only saying the truth. If Bobby Hadfield has listened
to it from the 'far beyond', I'm sure it would have brought a tear to his eye as it did to

Ioved this. Thought it was a tremendous performance, though I still consider Bobby Hatfield's live performance on Andy Williams' show the definitive performance of this performance. The ochestral arrangement was very beautiful. I did notice she followed Hatfield's style of the melody very closely, drawing out and emphasizing the same notes. That's not a criticism, it has become pretty much the standard for those who sing the song and its a very difficult thing to do well, and she did it many levels above "well".

Angelina sings on behalf of all women who gets arrested and even killed for singing or showing their hair. Its so sad. Singing and fixing hair is the JOY of girls in all ages, all places at all times. Women in Iran is not even allowed to feel the sand between their toes, swim in the sea or bicycle.
