If you are designing a 7 seater then make the 3 seats in the second row all the same size - like they used to be in Peugeot 5008 MPV
and the 2nd gen before this. My wifes dad just got a facelift 2nd gen 5008, 3 seats on the middle row all the same size, all with isofix, why take that option away? I don't get it.
Really annoys me how no car reviewer can tell me what batteries are in evs. Yes you tell me the capacity but is is lithium iron phosphate or is it lithium ion? If so is it 4680s, 2170s or 18650s? Sort it out as these things matter.
Exactly! And one more thing; Is it 400V, 600V or 800V etc.... These are all important information, just like in ICE, like how much power, torque, petrol or diesel, engine capacity, Inline 4 or Flat 4/6 or V6 etc!!
We need to know its battery type, composition & Voltage Rating etc....
@@BlackHawkTejas Couldnt agree more.
Agree. Unfortunately it does not have LFP battery. I much prefer LFP because you can charge to 100% on a daily base.
@@ferrariforever1 Not having an lfp battery and having such slow pickup is insanely embarrassing for this car😂
Well Peugeot did not put it in the info pckage and they all simply say what the producer wrote down. They never ask uestions because they want to be invited to these fancy locations 😂😂😂
You can fairly assume that small batteries under 50-60kWh are usually now LFP since that is cheaper , all above is usually NMC because the LFP needs more space and thus you cannot pack large packs.
So yeah, you are totally right.
And Stellantis does not run 800V yet, to my knowledge.
Definitely looks better than tesla
that isn't hard.. the Model Y is one of the ugliest EV's out there...
Given how Peugeot prices depreciate the fastest + electric car depreciating the most + they went crazy with the prices lately,
this is a disaster to buy new, BUT a super cheap absolute gem to buy used in 2-3 years.
This thing will be half off in a couple of years and makes sense then. No idea why someone would drop £50k+ on a french suv💀😂
Totally agree the amount Peugeot drop in value is unreal
They’ll be giving 20% discounts within 3 months (at least). No one is going to buy them at these ridiculous list prices.
Did you see though, that most value loss is on electric Mercedes models? Actual statistics.
@@csabeee2566 because brands that are famous for their depreciation are just starting the electric cars. Wait and see what the real depreciation is.
For an EV, I mostly care about 2 things besides the range and the charging speed:
- One pedal drive or not
- LFP battery or not (so that I can charge the car to 100% on a daily base)
Too bad that this video didn't cover these two items so I need to look them up myself via other sources.
Just do not bother buying an EV, unless you do not drive outside the city.
Just make it 10 cm longer or front shorter and few cm vider and there we have - true 7 seater - with 3 seperate seats great for family of 5 with ability to put parents in law into the 3rd row:) One thought - MPV always better than suv !!!
Agree. An MPV would fit much better in an European parking place.
Peugeot are nailing their interiors just now, this is also much better looking than the old 5008, that just looked all out of proportion with itself.
So Peugeot have actively dumped a set of customers, for no reason? well done Peugeot, well done. It was one of the main reasons my father in law chose this car, the 3 full size isofix seats in the middle row. Now they make the car bigger and effectively take a seat away, I don't get it?
The Rifter does that, or the Tourneo Connect/Caddy.
my next car 🤤
just like the prev gen when it's came out in 2017
the GT model design was a masterpiece inside and out and this new one is no difference
an absolutely masterpiece of a design inside and out
in my opinion best looking 7 seater in the market
Thanks Doug. I enjoy your reviews.
48 k £ for the peugeot 5008 and 65 k £ for the Kia E9 ! The difference of price is a huge !
I really like this presenter, he's well spoken, definitely well educated and nice and he's living proof that the British are bad at wardrobe style.
It looks nice, but the fundamental problem with EVs is still unchanged; charging infrastructure and charging times. You could sell this for a fiver and I still wouldn't buy one, especially with the UK's inclement weather.
I am not a majority it seems, but I would for sure rather have 3 more equal seats with 3 ISO fix positions. The fact it doesn't have it may actually turn me down on buying this car. :(
100% i had the second generation and with 2 kids it was very confortable to put both kids in the middle and side seat and leave a window seat for an adult
@@nickrojitas exactly. I Don't see a point of having 7 seats but only 2 seats are ISO fix friendly.
I love looking at the reviews of the vehicle offer in the UK, however many people here can't afford them new. It looks nice but we have to wait for a used one. Keep up the good work 💪
The only problem compared to the EV9 is that the big battery in this car won't be on sale this year and the EV9 is already on the road. So it's a bit odd to compare the price and real-world range of the Kia with the theoretical claims for this Peugeot.
The wltp range of both cars should be obtained using the exact same methodology, right? Then it doesn't matter whether a car has been on sale or not.
@@ferrariforever1 No, WLTP test conditions can vary because there is no one central authority responsible for verifying these tests (such as the EPA in the US). Therefore, some car makers are cherry-picking a car configuration for the test that will not be on sale in all markets, or it will be a time-limited offer for only the initial few months of sales. So a majority of potential customers will not be able to buy it. In the case of this car, Peugeot is trying to sell that it will have the same consumption (15-16 kWh/100 km, a figure from independent tests) as their e3008, which is a smaller, lighter and more aerodynamic car.
Really wish these journalists would slate the manufacturers for their pricing rather than being fairly middle ground and ensuring they get invited to more launches. Anything starting with a 4 is far too expensive for any Peugeot
Actually looks quite good 👍😊
Great review
The LR with the 3rd folded, would make a good airport transport.
Was the range quoted related to the european WLTP or something closer to the USA's more realistic real-world range EPA protocol?
They f’d up by not putting isofix on the 3 rear seats as this was a major selling point. Stupid decision
This will be an outstanding taxi / family car. With 100,000 mile warranty it is a stunning piece of kit.
You won't reach 100,000 miles without problems.
So, if you have 2 isofix chairs, and isofix only in the outer middle seats, how do the passengers access the last row without having to take the seats out? The main appeal of the car for an average family (being able to accommodate a couple extra passengers) is gone...
This boot has never 916 litres of storage (03:30) , unless maybe counted all the way to the roof. WhatCar's boot size measurements are so annoying, so much so that I don't believe any number you state. They are also very difficult to compare. For some cars you guys take the official numbers, some cars you mention numbers until the parcel shelf, sometimes until the roof etc. Just FYI, the Peugeot homepage states "259 litres with 3rd row up and 740 litres with rear seats folded" vs your claim of 348 and 916.
259 and 718 sound like figures for the 2ng gen car
Buying one of these financially would be madness. Secondhand value of these will plummet. How many families actually require a 7 seat vehicle out there ?
Enough to sell quite a lot. The old 5008 did very well. Some will buy just for a huge boot and rarely use all the seats.
Virtually no one will but these new - they will all be leased.
I am waiting for the Citroën 7 seater, with a long range battery to compare
They won’t be a long range battery on the new C3 Aircross
if you are adding third row and not adding ISOFIX point there, you are doing it wrong. especially when you cant mount the seat in 2nd row to get access to 3rd.
A stunning masterpiece. Alluring design, truly next level tech this is a work of art! Bravo Peugeot showing the unreliable British and boring Germans how to make a great car!
Don't knock the warranty! One service every 2 years on an EV will be shirt buttons! My BEV dealer service carried out a few weeks ago was £99.
From nearly 50,000 £ .. enough said .. WTF
I'd buy this as an AWD 200ps turbo diesel instead of the VW Tiguan Allspace
Touch screen controls....what a mess.....
Great looking cars coming from Peugeot but prices, reliability and depreciation are killers
So which European brands are reliable then?
The e-5008 100kwh FWD basically has only one 7 seater EV competitor at the moment: the Kia EV9 RWD.
60k vs 67k euro
100 kWh vs 100 kWh
660km wltp vs 563km
2300kg vs 2501kg
4,79m length vs 5,01m
No one pedal drive vs one pedal drive
no LFP battery vs no LFP battery
Feature wise and space wise I think the EV9 is a better deal, but the e-5008 has a significantly larger wltp range. Really a shame that it does not have the one pedal drive.
The WLTP range of this car is nonsense. A car of this shape and weight will be really happy if it consumes 17-18 kWh/100 km in good weather. The much smaller 3008 with a small battery(73kWh) is 15-16 kWh/100km with two people on board.
peugeot 5008 = 48 k £
Kia E9 = 65 k £
The difference of price is a huge
@@stephen10. I'm comparing the 100 kWh version of both cars. The e-5008 100 kWh is about 60k euro.
You forget the EQB with seven 7 63k for 250+ AMG Line with all options. 520 wltp and 4.69m lenght. 70.5 kwh battery
@@eRedBlue- I'm aware of the EQB, but it's more a 5+2 seater, and not a proper EV platform. The efficiency / range is quite good, mostly because of the relatively low weight. There is now a limited edition that starts at 46k euro! Unfortunately the EQB does not have one pedal drive, nor LFP battery. Its technology is quite ancient.
What a car ❤
The old one looks better imo
Hate those alloys also
Perfect
it's a Mitsubishi Outlander contender
The front grill copied peugeot's China joint partner's original design Chang'an UNI-K.
The “haptic “ buttons on the steering wheel are truly pathetic.
This or latest VW Sharan? Ignore fuel type
Wait 6 months the price will be dropped by half 😂😂😂
Cheaper than an EV9, 3 times more expensive than a Dacia Jogger. All 3 cars do the same job.
Peugeot really gotta stop putting so much black piano paint allover the place. It gets dirty and scratched quickly and overall feels a bit cheap.
And no physical buttons. Hard pass.
@2.20.......looks like some blonde was having fun in the boot.......dog+dark carpet=vacuuming forever
Peugeot are hardly cheap!
No.
Not for me..
What´s the use of a SUV without 4x4 capabilities?
Now everyone needs AWD. And not everyone wants to have to change all four tyres at the same time. Mind, if you can afford £50k as base spec., you can afford £500-£600 for tyres change.
It’s the new version of minivan/ hatchback
I take it you’ve just woked up from a 15 year coma to 2024. I hate to be the one to brake it to you but they havent made MPVs for years and years. Everyone has moved on to these non off-road SUVs and crossover-SUVs. It seems to be because they like the design, higher driving position and ground clearance.
Now I know it’s confusing but the term SUV is a very loose one. Nowadays it mostly refers to road going cars with elements from off-road cars. There’s also plenty of subsections like the crossover SUV but it’s story for another day.
@@dcvariousvids8082it is not a given that you need to replace all 4 tyres at once, that depends upon a number of factors. Tyres rarely wear evenly so you often end up with a natural imbalance between axles in any case as most cannot be bothered to rotate tyres. I always replace tyres in pairs though unless I am unlucky enough to get a puncture on an almost new tyre.
@@dcvariousvids8082Isn’t that’s to reduce wear on the centre diff on an ICE car? With separate front and rear motors I can’t see any need to replace all 4 tyres at the same time.
A lot of people realise the mistake of going EV that’s why they’re not selling .
😂😂😂
Au contraire! After 35 years of driving fossil burners I switched to EVs 10 years ago. Best thing I ever did.
@@fyank1 you’ve yet to realise your mistake . People are not buying EV cars and manufacturers are cutting production drastically.
@@user-fz8ep5ey4vI don’t think so fella but if you know best carry on paying through the nose. I will carry on enjoying my cheap motoring.
@@fyank1 you are so wrong , why is nobody buying electric cars if you’re so right . Depreciation in the first year alone is around 50 % . You keep believing you’re right .😂😂😂😂😂😂
Those wheels are terrible.
all that anoying keyword stuffing finally worked. unsubscribed.
Silly car. Like all EVs. All of them are a waste of money.
