Years of Saturday evenings in front of the fire to watch the two Ronnie's.
That's the line that cracks me up.
It's not just the the wordplay that makes this sketch such a classic, it's the acting. Ronnie Corbett's reactions and looks are superb, and Ronnie Barker's mannerisms are perfect. Great script and great acting

British comedy legends! Ronnie Barker ( the larger one) was a brilliant wordsmith - he loved the English language.

When I was young (in the 1980s) I worked in a department store. An old guy asked a young girl if we had any rubbers. Thinking he meant condoms, she told him they would be in Health and Beauty Aids (department). He said no, I mean for your feet (galoshes). 😂
This was from the 1970s. It was nice growing up with these two for entertainment.
My personal favourite Ronnies sketch is Mastermind. It does rely on some knowledge of the time, but the writing is even better than the Four Candles sketch. Ronnie Corbett's monologues were a high point too - masterful stand-up comedy from an armchair.
The Two ronnies are legends heer in the Uk and thanks to the internet will hopefully never be forgotten. You only hve to say 4 candles to anyoneof a certain age and they know what you mean. At the funerals of both men respectively the coffins came into the curches flanked but 4 alter boys carrying 4 candles. I dont think there will ever be their like again.

Hey Brad👍this sketch was written by Ronnie Barker under the pseudonym Gerald Wiley and was first aired in 1976. The two Ronnies were essential viewing for us Brits in the late 70s plus all of the 80s. They were a perfect comedy partnership,both incredibly talented in their own right,cheers mate✌️🍻
And in Australia. Never missed an episode if I could avoid it. Two of the greatest comedians ever.
