Mid-Missouri zone 6b. The buds on our Mulberry trees are just starting to show some green. Field corn will be planted about May 1, and Mulberries will be ripe at the first cultivation of the corn. I always stopped the tractor under the trees and ate a few Mulberries.
Growing up in the country side of town - there was a ditch nearby our property. Would go down near the wooded area where there was a big mulberry tree with black berries. Would take a bucket & pick what i could & take home.
Mom would wash them & make a cobbler pie & Dad would buy a carton of Vanilla ice cream. YUMM!! (Mom would also make juice to drink. Was nice & cold & tasted good on a hot day.) 😊
Thanks, I have an organic sweet potato growing slits in my window. It's too cold for Ohio. We are supposed to have a freeze warning for Sat night into Sun. After that the weather takes off to sunny days.
My great-grandfather brought home seedlings from when he was planting trees for the parks during the Great depression. Whe have a mulberry tree thats sadly dieing but it still bears fruit my nephew enjoys 90 years later 😊

I have a little mulberry sapling that I planted last fall. It was so leggy that I cut the top 5 foot off and stuck it in the ground. I have mulberries! Yay!! Only a handful this year, but I’m so excited!

I bought 2 mulberry plants to start this year because of your videos about how good they taste 😊 I never had any before so here I go!
We have 3or 4 mulberry trees in the windrow. Last summer I juiced enough mulberries to can 4 quarts. This winter I made jelly and we sure have been enjoying it. Mulberry cobbler sounds delicious right now. I will have to wait several months to enjoy some.

I don't get out and wonder around in the woods much anymore but growing up in Indiana we knew where several wild Mulberry trees where, close to us. We would clime up in the tree and eat them untill we had our fill.
Mulberries are so delicious and plentiful on a tree. Unfortunately there are not many in WI. I had one for a few years but i believe that it got frozen out some years back. Going to try again in a more sheltered area with plenty of sunshine. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day.

It is so relaxing in the morning to hear nature? I have a question! Golden small potatoes I bought at Kroger ( organic) . Three days ago I cut off some bad parts of the potatoes and today those small parts that I cut off are not rotten! That is not normal! I hope I explained it well . Was the potato sprayed with thing?

Yes that's normal it's called chitting it's how you plant potatoes.
Wanda, Mulberry trees grow all over here, and used to eat them while playing as a child. This year I’ll try to harvest them for a recipe. Permaculture for sure.

I hope to plant red raspberries and purple ones after the last frost on Sunday.
My mulberry tree is just now putting leaves on.
We would just spread an old sheet underneath the tree and shake the branches until the ripe ones fell. 😊
I just get enough to make a cobbler then let the bird have them

Wow here in Louisiana our mulberrys aint near ready. And we cover with tarp cut to fit around each tree and shake the heck out them..... We harvest way more than the birds 😅

What kind of Mulberry Tree do y’all have?
I am sorely tempted to order y’all a couple different varieties of mulberries that y’all could maybe plant at Pecan Grove. I am in country too cold for most varieties of mulberries, but they thrive on the heat where y’all are. IF I had some sent to y’all, would you LIKE to make a place for them? It’s probably too late for this year, but for next? I was thinking of shade and feed for the chickens as well as people. Please answer yes or no. I’m still praying that y’all get abundant showers of blessings, including rain enough to replenish your groundwater and ponds.
I'm wondering if you guys have a different variety than Ohio. They are the most tasteless berry and most just leave them for the birds to eat. They aren't even that sweet.
@@Jomama02 Different varieties have different flavors and growing conditions also impact the taste.
Mulberries are great unless the tree is close to where you park the vehicle.
What variety mulberry is that?

What does a Mulberry taste like?
Tangy but sweet if fully ripe. Birds are getting them before fully ripe so most get picked half ripe and turn during the day
Ummm, Ummm, the cobbler looked good. So did all those mulberries. The ripe ones are delicious, but I like the red ones that are just starting to turn black, too. I like that tartness. Was wondering how old your trees were before they started producing berries. I bought a couple of really small dwarf trees last year. Just sprouts, really. They're still really small.
