The Lightrail in Calgary, Canada 2024

Calgary Transit provides public transportation services throughout the city with regular bus service, bus rapid transit (BRT), and light rail transit (LRT). Calgary's light rail system, known as the CTrain, was one of the first such systems in North America (behind Edmonton LRT). It currently consists of two lines (Red Line and Blue Line), with 44 stations and 58.2 km (36.2 mi) of track. Most of the CTrain runs on both dedicated tracks with partial grade separation across suburban areas, and a street-level section across downtown. ~Wikipedia

If memory serves, Calgary has a population of just 1.1 million, and yet the C-Train has the highest annual ridership of any light rail system north of the Rio Grande. It's a roaring success.

Great video! Both the Edmonton and Calgary LRT systems were based on the Frankfurt U-Bahn design principles and have been wildly successful transporting Albertans around. Too bad we haven't been able to revive our Inter-City HSR program... yet... Ellis-Don has signed onto a project called Prairie Link for a 380 km/h HSR apparently but details are scarce...

Other than seats in new units are uncomfortable and made of plastic, it is great transportation system... I've been using it much when I was on my tourist trip from EU to Calgary earlier this year.
