- Danny Denzongpa speaks about B. R. Chopra. He says, " I met with Mr. Chopra in 1969 or 70 at that time he had done many films and I was a film student so in the final year examination he came as an examiner and after the examination, he called me and he encouraged me and said that you are a different type of actor, you are very natural and after your course if you come to Bombay I will give you a role. That was a big thing for me because B. R. Chopra is B. R. Chopra and incidentally I told him that time the very first movie that I have seen is yours 'Naya Daur'. Then I came down to Bombay and Chopra was making a film called Dastan with Dilip Kumar and he said that there is no role in this film but I will call you if there is any but in the meantime keep struggling and keep meeting with industry people. He planned 'Dhun' after 'Dastan' and an assistant came to me and said that B. R. Chopra had asked for you."

We stayed in his hotel during our tour to sikkim ,in the old capital of sikkim,he is my favourite so i was exited during our stay

He is from one of the most affluent family in Sikkim. Their family has huge investment in hotel industry and distilleries all over Sikkim and outside. But none of them would show off, coz they are reall Buddhist in spirit and in practice. 👍

Very few villians have been seen on the big screen who were genuinely scary. Danny was one of them. He had a very masculime voice and used to scare me in the late 80s and early 90s movies.

Such a wonderful speaker. Soft, articulate and every word laced with poise. His hindi is immaculate. His humility and genuine respect and admiration for BR Chopra comes through so nicely. He is one of the actors we grew up watching, and though there were so many superstars around at that time, Danny Denzongpa carved a niche for himself. A very powerful actor, adept at doing different types of roles, the one in Dhoond was special. And, yes, that swivel and the dish coming towards us was an iconic shot. I watched the film with school friends at Plaza, the only movie hall in Kurseong. It was great to hear him talk at length about the film.
Incidentally, many of his batchmates from the Pune film institute made it big in Bollywood. If I am not mistaken, Jaya Bhaduri, Raza Murad, Navin Nischal, Shatrugan Sinha and a couple of directors were all from his batch (I may have missed a few). Wishing him health and happiness
