    I think you learned from your momma the best, you honor her well and are a wonderful teacher! I have lost my momma too and there are some things we just can’t copy so well but I bet they are proud of the job we do! Your teaching video is the “bomb” and you should be proud! ❤

    The blisters form because they are steaming and cooking the tortilla from the inside, so you really shouldn't press the steam out. But so good! Yes, Lard and made with butter is SO much better than Crisco🤢 healthy fats! Crisoc, no bueno!

    Hi it's fascinating to know that people around the world make this bread but called by different names.
    India.. roti or chapati
    Western world.. Flat bread
    You call it tortilla. Basically same style of making.
    Thank you. Will try.
    Lots of love from South Africa.

    I can Honestly say that Trish has this down to a tee she is the only one of four sisters that makes tortillas just as good as our mother, “ sorry to the othe three” I always ask her whe she visits if she’s making torts, because they do remind me of our mother’s tortillas. Yes Trish you inhearited her talent which is hard to do because our moms measuring cups were her hands, but you figured it out. One day I’ll have the courage to make them but would rather have Trish make them. Keep up the good work. Mom was very proud that she was always able to watch you on TV. Thought you were very famous! 🤓

    This makes me miss her sooo much 😢. But makes me wanna practice more! I could never get the right thickness/shape. Mom shapes them like you but she tucks under and there’s a divot in there from her finger.

      @cookingwithtrish  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes keep practicing . I can’t fully explain how I make my testales . I tried lol . It’s all in the hand . Try rolling them in to balls and press down in the center , then roll . Grams never had me make them with her . I would watch & she would explain . It wasn’t until I got married & moved out I realized how much I needed my tortillas lol . Mine used to look like the shape of Utah 😂.

      @cookingwithtrish  Před 2 lety

      Thank you . That’s very nice of you 😊. For sopapilla , my mom used to make the dough for tortillas . She would roll it out as if she was making a tortilla . Cut it into strips and intertwine them . She put them in hot oil until they turned light brown but fully cooked . She then sprinkled them with cinnamon sugar once she removed them from the oil. These are so delicious .

      Ok … lets start with the dough . •don’t add too much baking powder •knead longer . Now cooking . •make sure comal or griddle is hot enough . You wanna hear a good sizzle when you place tortilla on it . If its smoking , then its too hot •don’t over cook •store in a sealed container …. Go over these steps . Make changes where needed .
