Going back to the Shane aka James episode of Icarly you said if genders were reversed the situation would be different well do you remember the BTR episode Big Time Girlfriend where all the guys were competing for Jo's attention. Obviously, Kendal ended up with Jo but at the time the guys were behaving worst than Carly and Sam. James even got an allergic reaction to his body spray. Oh and 1 more thing BTR is coming back in December
Carly was the main issue with her relationship with Griffin. The iDate A Bad Boy episode perfectly displayed how shallow Carly can be. She first only liked Griffin for his looks/his bad boy image. And when he was vulnerable with her and she saw that he liked something she considers childish & girly, she made fun of him to her friend. She then tries to “fix” him by buying him a power drill. Such a bad message to kids, it teaches young boys to be overly masculine and young girls to not accept men that aren’t overtly masculine 100%.
i find it so weird how people can be so judgmental over stuff that’s completely harmless, like plushies. Like, you don’t need to like it, but there’s no need to put down those who do

While I'm not into alot of things that can be considered for kids i do like Barbies and GI Joe's and I am beginning to have more of an interest in them. I kept it to myself for most of my childhood (except for one time I referenced them in a poem in 1st grade) because i was worried of being mocked.

Honestly they really did do my boy Griffin dirty. Even when I was younger when I watched this episode I always felt like Carly and Sam were bullying Griffin for just having a hobby. If you think about it, Carly finds his collection basically cringe and childish but what if he felt the same way about iCarly? But he never did he was always a real homie
the way Carly viewed it as a "girly" hobby which sends the wrong message to little boys about what's masculine and what's not.

It’s pretty realistic cuz some nice girls can be that shallow too, but I wish they sent a better message to kids (for them to not be that judgey).
Better to dump him than to string him along farther, but that's why you shouldn't just date someone off of this image you set for them in the first place. I also don't like the message it sent for kids about guys needing to be masculine and to be ashamed of hobbies or interests like that.
I mean he has nice or cute in every other way (including the stuffed animals) but he was freaking out about protecting them over her stuff and stealing her cold air which isn’t cool. They were crazy hard on him for no reason before that though.

I found it really creepy that so many 'love interest' tried to kiss Carly without her consent. It's wrong, and even more in a kids show...
I don't think it's wrong to show it as long as the show makes it clear that it is wrong..i remember one guy tried to kiss her and literally Spenser chased him out, broke his phone and threw it at him then slammed the door.

I still love them but I know how unhealthy they are. So I still think the break up is stupid. They could have actually given them something to break up over instead of forcing it.

Young Freddie makes me so uncomfortable now. He definitely tows the line between "friend who has a big crush" and "stalker", but often leaning more towards stalker

I think Freddie got a little better when the show went on. He wasn’t as obsessed but he definitely was really weird in the beginning

@@myasallis2698 I'm sure he didn't mean any harm doing what he was doing. I mean after all he was only a 13 year old boy. Which that's not an excuse, but feelings can be confusing during that time. As he got older he grew out of those creepy ways.
Carly and Gibby would be an odd pairing, but I strangely like them. She was so nice to him, like in the Speed Dating episode, she told Sam that she was planning to ask Gibby to the dance (yet declined Freddie). And in the iEnrage Gibby episode, when Sam & Freddie were confused how Gibby got Tasha, Carly says, “c’mon Gibby’s sweet, cute, fun, and nice”. And then the Seddie episodes, they were so awkward but I liked their interactions.

A lot of these love interests, as well as Carly herself, aren’t really good people, but i feel that’s a pretty recurring trend in Dan Schneider shows. Maybe it has to do with the comedy style being more mean-spirited compared to Disney shows. Granted, often that ends up making the shows funnier and more distinct. A double-edged sword
youre right about nickelodeon being mean spirited theyre always making fun of "weird kids" or "the homeless" but it was so subversive and funny for me as a kid haha
@@lucasouza889 I always thought Disney Channel had shows that more so had the ya know role model, learning lessons at the end of the episode kind of deal which is good for kids but then tis harder to be funny and have more edgy comedy. With nickelodeon they have the edgy comedy but that means characaters doing not so great behavior, being boderline toxic and etc. however they are not necessarily role models anyways (Sam, Jade from a more severe degree, Carly to a lesser degree than both, same as Tori). You get it.

I’m glad Freddie moved on in the iCarly revival because neither Carly and Sam deserved him. However, if they do make Creddie happen, I’d support if they showed us how good they are. Cuz in the original show, they always told us how nice Carly is to Freddie but never showed it.
Like the Valerie episode. Carly says that she always says how important Freddie is...yet we’ve never seen it. All we saw was her taking advantage of him by using his crush to get him to do stuff. Like in the pilot she asked him to stay after Sam was just rude to him and the episode with Austin Butler.

Apparently Carly and Freddie will have ‘romantic tension’ in the revival, and with Miranda as executive producer, I believe their relationship will be in better hands. I’m actually really looking forward to their relationship as adults and how their friendship possibly evolves more organically without the whole forced love triangle thing.
I always think it was so weird that Carly and Lance had their date while she was still in the bath cause like, she wasn't wearing trousers/pants. And she couldn't put them on cause her toe was stuck. So they had that whole thing while she was half naked

I am so glad someone brought up how much Carly and Gibby were hanging out in the later seasons. I even liked them together when I was younger.
re: the love triangle between the three friends... i really wish they gave freddie a real love interest outside of the two of them. looking back, honestly neither couple was really great in my opinion (creddie/seddie ppl pls be gentle) bc on carly & freddie, they were so platonic that them dating just felt weird and also because they kissed again AFTER he had dated sam, it felt even more like a throwaway plot line rather than something being worked towards (at least if that was what they were trying to achieve) so it never felt real to me. i do think though they had a better foundation to date because they were such good friends unlike the next couple (so if they explore this plot again in the reboot and rlly properly write it, it may work)
as for seddie, i do love a good enemies to lovers thing but honestly, rewatching how mean (and i know it's just a show) mean sam was to him turned me off and how much they really did not connect at all. like it's one thing to be opposite, but literally they had no real thing in common and no real connection aside from i guess some physical chemistry which showed in the few episodes of them dating, there was just nothing there to build any real semblance of a relationship. like what carly says in the ep where they break up, it felt like two people forcing themselves to be together.
tldr: i think each should have dated someone else. i dislike it when shows try to force cast members together when it doesn't make sense. and idk, not everyone needs to be in love. great guy and gal friendships are just as important!

Honestly, I think part of the problem with re-watching childhood shows is that they do a lot of petty bs that we didn't think twice about as kids (b/c it was kinda okay then) but now that we're older, we see the toxic problematic bs for what it is and it kinda sours your outlook on the show. Like for example, I re-watched Kim Possible recently and bro I literally never noticed how petty and shallow she could be when it came to certain things until I rewatched it. So while it doesn't necessarily make it unwatchable for me now and I still like the show, I kinda feel some type of way about the pettiness.
Well you have to remember the time that these shows were written, the style of comedy of said shows and the fact sometimes the jokes and stuff went above are heads and they were in some ways could be watchable to adults. I also think of it that sometimes it's okay to take the piss out of certain toxic or weird portrayals and etc. As long as you know right or wrong or in the end the show does not necessarily romanticize it. And going back to comedy I realized the nickelodeon was the kind of network where the charcaters were not really meant to be role models ..the comedy was more so mean spirited and characters more so had a grey area of morality. Unlike Disney channel these characters again we're not really meant to be totally looked up to and not were they meant to learn a lesson at the end of each and ever episode (as that's common with Disney channel). As a result Disney Channels comedy tends to be less slap stick/mean spirited but sometimes it's likely to fall flat more than nickelodeon. Both of these formats are fun it's just done differently.
I just feel that other then the dream Carly and Gibby ship. Carly was really shallow with all of her relationships. To me it felt like she wanted to be in a relationship because that was what was done. Not because she was emotionally ready for a relationship and had found someone she wanted to be with.
Based on her age, that’s pretty realistic. When I was in middle school & high school, I wanted to date, not because I was ready for a relationship, but because other friends of mine were and I wanted to be wanted, you know.
As shallow as Carly was being, I find Freddie's reaction to finding out Griffin collects Peewee Babies priceless. 😂

I actually just did a rewatch of iCarly and hadn't remembered much of Gibby besides him just being there. I loved that episode of him buying that puppy and honestly I feel like they could've ended up together if things were different. I feel like the show really bullied him and I don't know if it would've felt right to have him end up with her. For that one episode though it felt more natural than Carly with anyone else in my opinion.

Nevel deserves last place but he was too funny to for me to want him to be there🙈his presence just made me laugh. He talks so polite and like he’s reading a poem. Like when he says, “I stole a kiss upon your cheek, now another kiss I seek” and “a kiss I seek, upon your lips, no not your cheek”.

it feels like a lot of the reasons why her love interests and exes were all bad was bc the show was trying to make freddie look like the best option comparatively, but in doing so made freddie and carly's (romantic) relationship boring. or i guess it's more like, they focused so much on the romance with other love interests they forgot to give freddie and carly any romance to give a satisfying ending to the show

Not gonna lie, younger me was all for the Creddie ship. I don't know, maybe it was just because it was mostly one-sided on Freddie's side, and I sorta always root for the one-sided pining.
Though, the writers on the show were just terrible at writing relationships. But when they do decent jobs of Carly and Freddie in episodes like iSaved Your Life and iSpeed Date, I can't help but ship them.
They were the best ship, Freddie waited and in the long run Carly also realized her feelings.
The rare moments Sam and Freddie had throughout earlier episodes were great. And it made me ship them a lot. But I agree it fell apart after iomg. They had no clue how to do their relationship.

To be honest, as a kid back when I was in middle school, the Beanie Baby episode kinda made me feel a bit insecure because I also had a lot of weird hobbies I was very passionate about, so it kinda made me feel like if anyone found out about them then no one would want to date me. Luckily I grew out of that and just simply found happiness in what I was doing without worry of finding someone, and because of that I'm now dating someone with the same exact weird hobby I have who loves how passionate I am!
Never date someone who makes you feel like you have to hide a part of yourself. Your passion is wonderful!
fred has had terrible love interests too, he basically spent the whole show in love with someone who was clear about not wanting him and he kept pushing desperately and then he ended up in a relationship with someone who spent a lot of time bullying him (there was also that ex girlfriend who was just using him for her website)
I’m loyal to Creddie tbh. Seddie was deeply toxic and abusive and honestly such an awful and dangerous example for easily influenced children.

Griffin was done so dirty for no reason, but also Carly was in her tweens/teens? So it’s understandable that she’s selfish and shallow most people are at that age.
I wouldn't say most people are shallow and stuff just because of their age..even me when I was young watching it, as well as I see in the comments when people were in their teen/tweens watching, they were kind of uncomfortable with her being grossed out with his bobby. To an extent it is understandable but they should have made her disgusted after she found out he was obsessed so she actually has a legitimate reason to break up with him, not break up with him just because he has this hobby..

I am in the middle with the situation because actors play roles and they don’t pick their costars. And sometimes it involves a kiss or two. I blame the people who hire adults to play love interests to teenagers.
Than I ask, what if the adult was the best person for the role?

Season 3 wasn't bad. I liked Bella and Will as characters. Sophie was my least favorite character.
Woah woah season 3 wasn't that bad. It had a good plot, it did suck that Emma wasn't there and they had the main characters basically act like Emma never existed, but apart from that it was actually a good and interesting season
