- This is why you should never let an unknown vessel into your ship, it could have an army of angry grinding bots inside waiting to be unleashed.

Space Engineer is like a mixture between Minecraft and Kerbal Space Program.
The main purpose of the game seems to be building a space fleet and fight/ally with the other factions. You build your ships piece by piece and the only know limit for the size of your ship is what you computer can handle. - Hry
“I think that other ship gave me parasites!”
haha noice
Space condoms only prevent 99% of ship destruction. Abstanence is the best option.

Aaron, love the concept but I know a way to make the Trojan drones a bit more lethal to ships. Say the drones go in, cut down a lot of the ship. After maybe ten minutes or less, the drones will self destruct. Have warheads inside the drones, causing even more damage to cripple a ship. Please experiment with this concept in another vid please.
Christian de la Cruz this is more fun and exiting but it would be cool to have sorta a centeran drone that explods
Christian de la Cruz or remote detonation of the mites
This would also ensure that if the drones were destroyed by turrets, the warheads would likely be detonated by the gunfire, causing at least some damage.
New update makes reactors explode now.
Yeah but with small reactors the damage is quite minimal.
I just imagine these slowly drifting away in space. An unaware pilot going through some debris, then suddenly having their hull disappear in front of their eyes.
"What was that?"
You could try to seperate those 'parasites' inside your ship and put them in little cells. That could stop the drones turning, so that they dont grind themselves away or enter out the top.
I agree, or even the ship could be a husk that split in different grinder elements.
I like the heavy armor idea, so that they only go down, and cause maximum chayos even if they are docked outside. you'd have to put the landing gear on the bottom though.
@@pierre-luccharron405 this! much less obvious, much better potential for wtfuckery
The little grinders could also be affixed to the outside to look like little decorations
maybe you could add a second timer on the drones so after a while of shredding it blows up as well causing more damage
esp with a warhead or seven...
I love it
They have to be able to multiply in order to be a real menace. The delivery ship being a factory for the things. Set delivery ship on a timer, which will make it open. The drones would need some kind of timer as well on their grinder, so they don't grind the delivery ship on the way out.
Oh, yes. Perfect.
You just gave me an awesome idea... *starts plotting evil, ship scrapping deeds*
Or have them be self replicating using the materials gathered from grinding to weld a couple of child drones
@@crplsteve i know this comment is 2 years old but guess what i do now.. xD
@@crplsteve you can make the nanite boarding ship, using the disassembly beacon to get nanites covid'ing the enemy hull or the hacking drone using the mod hacking computer to steal it, covering somewhere
you should probably attach a back landing gear that has autolock disabled and then have a second timerblock in the drone that unlocks the landing gear like 30 seconds after they started grinding so that the drone can grind away the shell of it's ship without going crazy and grinding away the other drones.
Nice idea for the MK2 was thinking of having the shell explode off and then have them fly out to save time.
Great idea! I wanted suggest tubes so they would not turn around, but this solution may be even better. Though I would not put it in a drone, but keep as separate part (two landing gears and time bloc would only diable one holding the drone) so they would not drag drone later.
I'm liking the landing gear idea.
Also, Please keep working on these little beauties, LSG. This is by far my favorite creation of yours, because they seem to be potentially practical.
@@LastStandGamers that would make it alot scarier.imagine hearing a big explosion in your hangar and then go to investigate and see little robots grinding your ship away from the inside and they are quite fast so it would be pretty hard to disable them without being prepared.
Have a timer block on the ship linked to the landing gears. When they lock them down the timer block sets off the grinders 1 minute timer. so pointing them down instead of up which will help with them parking it on the outside.
They could work great as time bombs as is, or as escape weapons. Imagine if you knew where someone was, and that they would be an easy target, but they had a cargo full of those little bastards, and just started dropping them randomly along their flight path with timers. The abject fear of that moment when a large lumbering animal stumbles across thousands of hungry piranha's...that's about the feeling you'd have. I can imagine a few random cargo pods just floating about full of those bastards just shredding an unsuspecting scavengers ship in moments.
Do a time lapse of a ship getting destroyed by these things
i feel like without the drones being clamped in place until the "horse" itself has been breached, having quite that many drones is a tad inneffective, seeing as how they all grind themselves half to death. but if you wanna avoid clamping mechanisms, maybe have fewer drones facing in many directions, or only have a small handful of remote control drones. actually, what if you had four remote control drones, one with a grinder for burrowing towards vitals, one with a welder for sealing those burrows, and two with guns for defending the grinder and/or creating a distraction for it. maybe replace one of the gunners with a suicide bomb drone, or add it in as a fifth.
Have you considered launching these like the buzz droids in star wars? Have a missile that flies out ahead of the Target ship and deploys the drones in a kind of cloud. Then the ship flies through and they attack.
those are called mines
I wana see the vid that in you spawend the ship on the server.
I just spawned empty ships to see whether players would take them back but ill recorded future testing even if it is quite basic.
LastStandGamers please do the same test with fully loaded ships, i really wanna see what happens, amd im not alone in this
LastStandGamers I want to see real players in legit server get tricked by this in a video
that would be both hilarious and terrifying to hear in the distance and then see what the hell is happening near the ship you just brought in.
I think that changing which walls of the drone’s compartment is heavy or light may help to give the drones a better chance of going a direction that you want, such as having the rest of the compartment made of heavy armor and only the bottom will have light armor. I also think that making the gravity gens turn on at a specific time and then go mad, so that instead of them flying everywhere, they all go a specific direction until the timer you set makes the gens throw the drones off for a loop and go every which way; giving them better accuracy and a smaller chance of flying out of the target ship.
They might not be super effective all the time at hitting critical systems... but the random nature of how they fly and tend to cut blocks free to float around in the ship, would make it super annoying (if nothing else) to repair. Giving you time to attack the station/ship as the player is distracted with the random holes in his creation.
Amazing concept, I love it!
Yes the ships getting stuck in nooks and crannies is clearly the best way to cripple the entire ship.
3:43 Rip to that one grinding bot that literally flew out of the hangar
make the "trojan horse" a small ship then the owner will turn the turrets of to not destroy small ships.
Two factors to consider. First, thickening the topside of the trojan horse so the grinderbots escape out the bottom reliably.
Second, artificial gravity.
You should add a minature warhead to the drones set to a timer, so right after it either ends or they stop it, they blow up.
Its infuriating that you do not realize that you didnt realize that the second ship is upside down all this time.
omg xDDDD
Two things I think could improve this build - a sensor to turn off the grinder when it detects it's about to grind one of its buddies and a ring of sensors to turn it back toward the larger ship if it escapes. Might have to put the drones in their own faction so they can grind out of the Trojan horse but still turn off grinders if they get in each other's way.
Why not something classic for the name like a Locust?
Something I would do is try and separate them somewhat in their launch vehicle to try and reduce the chance of them damaging themselves.
That name is rather good will have to see what gets the most likes and I was thinking about putting them in cells divided by blast doors to stop the blue on blue.
What about buzzard or buzzers I think that fits ^^
The point of a Trojan horse: to allow enemies to enter to attack, basically break open a gap and let the enemy come in from outside, so when they broke out you would sneak in and help destroy it from inside out.
I mean it works but the drones keep flying out the ship or killing each other. Here is a better idea:
Small remote controlled drones loaded in the ship with grinders in front and a warhead loaded in it.
Scenario: Crew finds ship and loads it into their main vessel. Hidden camera lets enemy know when it is docked. Crew leaves ship or goes AFK, the infiltrator then activates the drones as one or more infiltrators pilot the drones and grind deep into the ship finding important parts like the reactor room or engine room before settling in and setting off the warheads one by one crippling a ship, as a bonus, the decoy ship loaded with the drones can also have a hidden signal attached to it notifying the infiltrators the location of the damaged vessel so they know the crew's base.
Even more evil, you could leave the drones inactive until you get in a battle with the crew and then set the drones off leaving the crew confused and in panic as their systems shut off one by one.
I think the smartest idea for a decoy though if you are in a conflict is to simply have a signal set off by a remote control in the ship to give away the location of the enemies.
Another concept could be having welders that build combat drones in the ship essentially taking it over. By the time the enemy tries to reclaim the ship, it will be overrun with combat drones either chasing the enemy away from the now captured ship or forcing them to destroy their own vessel.
Finally, and I think the best idea, to have welders build the remote controlled grinder and warhead drones WITH a landing gear and have them park all around the ship effectively booby trapping it, if the crew brings their ship back to base, it will violently explode dealing severe damage to the base.
Keep them in seperate compartments facing downwards. This will increase efficiency and stop them from killing each other. Also make some replicate upon activation and all will self-destruct in 1 hr of activation.
The Dark Star's internal guns were switched off. I have a feeling that would have ended the break-out pretty fast.
The trojan horse ship looked like it would be a very good ship. You could probably get some of those normally in your world, and have space to walk around on long voyages.
you should make a bait ship out of large separate parts, held together only by few easily grinded light armor connections. so when the drones wake up, and start grinding - ship quickly falls apart and they don't waste time grinding each other.
sort of like Kestrel's airtight doors, but with single light armor block holding it in place, instead of a merge block.
also try adding gyroscopes or rotors near the connection points, so CLANG will wreck bait ship apart very quickly, once those connection points are damaged.
also maybe reorient drones inside bait, so they are launched in different directions.
If you used the magnetic field warhead to punch through initial armor, the nanites *mite* find it easier to get inside, without all the whooptie doodads.
Strap both insane contraptions to a heavily armored carrier and have fun breaching anything big enough to literally shit on
You could connect the roof with merge blocks/ rotors and set a timer so that when the grinders activate, the roof opens so they don't have to waste time grinding out
Hey is there a way that you can make a small ship and a large ship version of this like the small one would have 3-4 of them and the large one can have 10-20.
I wish i could find a design n setup for these trojan grinder drones. are they built with mod parts?
I think the name should be... the T3R Mites!
Get it? Ter... Termites? Eh? No?
Okay...
XD! fuck, that actually got me, thats fucking good...
oooh...that gave me an idea for a type of RP faction... basically a drone made faction where things like this are the base of it, and the ships or drones are named after types of insects and such...just like how in halo, human vehicles are named after animals, the covenants vehicles are named after types of spirits and such.
**now I want that as a faction**
Kiero Vance™ I like your thinking!
A great idea worth trying would be to have the ship burst apart using some sort of decoupler mechanism right when the drones activate.
I challenge you to build a drop pod with out a parachute or engines that can survive re-entry intact.
The Astro Gamer put some extended pistons and you'll just bounce of the ground.
Easy peasy. Made one years ago.
Create a small light armor pod with a seat and a single small antenna on the bottom.
It doesn't even require any power.
didnt he find out how to do that already just add rocks ;)
I think this is very much a zeppelin idea, in theory it’s incredible, but in practice it just doesn’t seem to pan out how it was expected to and turns out to be more costly than it’s worth.
great video I really want u to make a video in a online server and troll people and u should try to make the grinding bots better like more destruction and make them not damage eachother like placing some in the engines of the horse so some will come out off the engines and place one under the cockpit like everywhere not every single grinding bot in the middle of the hourse like if someone desides to cut a small hole on topp of the ship they see every grinding bot soo yeah
Separate the drones out so they start further apart. If there's a programmable block on board, it can read a lot of information from the sensor and the parasite. You could set the drone up so that if its gyroscope or thruster(s) become inoperative, it detonates a warhead. I would program it in a way that the warhead gets placed on a countdown and every time the programmable block detects that everything is operable, it resets the timer but still counts down. Warheads do no need power to countdown and explode. So if the programmable block or the power source gets taken out, if the parasite runs out of energy, BOOM.
Real live fire test! Awesome
Hey last stand, I was wondering if you could make a tutorial how to program your guns to your fighters, I'm having a hard time trying to get my guns to fire from the mouse button than either pressing 1 to activate it to fire, I can't figure how to configure my weapon keys to the mouse button when I build a new fighter
so I just want to say, I love this. pure evil genius. That said I think you're launch system needs more work.
Wow this was kinda the idea I had that I never cared to try out. Thanks.
Are u going to make anymore survive series i liked them they where fun
Sooo, Id totally thin the armor on the horse like just parrely finish it in places to the grinders bots get out faster, or even grid them in inot the ship more like in the nacelles. Could even make this into part of a ramming assault pod with a hull breach nose that pours out sleeping drones right after impact!
would it not be possible to make a type of surpise egg, so for example the side engine pods fold up or down or away on a timer block so then they nanite bugs can get out. is that possible??
Could you use a projector and 1or2 welders to build a massive swam once the ship is landed?
Thoose drones would be even more efficient if they had a cargo container and a way to come back home. I'm not sure about the ROI on that thing, but that would be a lot of fun.
Ennemy player : Oh ! Free Ship !
You : Oh ! Free ressources !
Build a axle in the center of the "Trojan" craft. Make retractable doors above and below the axle with the bots attached to the axle or a similar system, maybe hidden ducts where the bots sleep & hide?
Maybe you can use some merge blocks and pistons to make the carrier ship open itself, so the grinders can get out more easily, which should make them less likely to break eachother. Could put in some warheads as well, if you felt like it.
Or instead of pistons, make the ship just come apart into lots of pieces, still using merge blocks, then add mass blocks to each part and a spherical gravity generator somewhere in the middle to launch the pieces outwards.
I think this version is far more harmful for attacker than enemy. Maybe it'd work better if your ship opened to let them out so they don't destroy your ship and each other but easily follow their target. There could be also platform on piston pushing them out.
Maybe if you came back to sticky bomb design you could add a rotor and some sensor so drones activate one after another in one direction except all at once and everywhere.
Maybe automated factory of drones with gravity gun would do the job since they look cheap and losing some wouldn't be a big deal when you keep shooting new ones.
Maybe landing gear would work if there was a timer which releases it after few second if block is out of grinders range. (If that's the problem)
Those are few of my quick ideas about your project.
Kakss its a Trojan horse.
its not his ship once its stolen, so he wouldnt care if it gets destroyed. its not like hes going to go and rescue it anyway.
These really should be set up to lock on, cause if the victim figures out what's up before it's too late... a quick emergency jump will leave the drones behind.
This method is just amazing i love it so much!!!!! Very impressive and kind of hilarious
If you can get them to auto Target the power supply that would be one hell of a trap
A couple different ideas:
First, Perhaps this could be used as a form of bomber. Though it would take some skill if you could design a bomber that carries anywhere between 10-20 of them you can attempt to target the hangers or airlocks if they are open, that way when they activate they are not contained in a small ship, rather they have the ability to spread out and do more damage.
Second idea, similar to the bomber idea this would be a combat build rather than a trojan horse, design a ship with chutes narrow enough that the bots cannot rotate while being transported, latch onto an enemy ship and activate them, they will follow the chute (hopefully) and burrow into the hull directly beneath them, a good way to propel them is to possibly use grav generators to push them into the other ships hull.
Both the bomber and the latcher can be reloaded for multiple attacks allowing for you to save resources and to cause more damage.
(Disclaimer; I do not own or have ever played this game. but from what gameplay I have seen this has a possibility to work.)
Would it be more effective to arm the ship with bombs set to detonate on a timer? Or could the drones scatter across the ship and detonate?
Very good and dangerous concept
I remember a video, idk from who, who had a torpedo like thing that would attach to the ship then drill through out, you could probably do something like that but have at the front a door that opens and releases the nanites, also better having heavy blocks on the places you dont want it to go through, food for thought.
You should do the same thing, but with warheads and thrusters, so it's detaches the top, and then the warheads fly out and hit stuff, or you could have one grinder to grind the floor while the warheads try to get out.
What if you set up a constellation of these between you and a base belonging to an enemy, far enough apart that they wouldn't easily be noticed but close enough together that several would be able to lock onto a large ship should it travel through, each set on a 5 or 10 second timer to give the chip time to get surrounded and then suddenly you have 10 or 15 of these things grinding at the outside of your ship trying to get in.
For an actual survival world I really like the concept of a trojan horse, but I would go way simpler and just fill the cargo with warheads
This is perfect for any war servers. Looks great!
How about building them like missiles and shoot out before starting to grind?
Just thinking. Is there a way where you could have a price of the ship jettison so they go out instead of being all trapped?
Is there a way to make them point towards artificial gravity? It could help them burrow into a ship then go crazy when the grab generator is disabled.
You could do like a barnacle design with 4 and individual tubes of heavy armour for each rginder with a thick shell but paper thin bottom for latching onto the outside of ships and maybe have multiple ones of these spread out on the ship
jesus, those are basically buzz droids on steroids
i would suggest using the one remote controld nanite or whatever you called it i forgot than you could target the vital equipment.
I wish that how to build those little salvage drones n set them up would be shared. I would love to use this
Best content on youtube bro keep it up. I love your space engineers video's. I subbed and notifications on, id like to support your channel and also to catch some live shows but im in the uk and dont know what time it is you go live bro. Holla at your boi
'OH NO! NOT THE BEES!'
again, integrating some lotus tech might be useful. slap a projector and welder on, and you get yourself as many drones as you have the resources for. or until the projector/welder gets grinded away, which could also happen very easily with such little space. so that would probably be more useful for your first attempt, where you can make sure that the drones initially all fly away from your main projectile and only come back to it sometimes due to randomness.
One or two of these could cripple one of my anthem ships, as they have internal hanger bays, but wouldn't do much to a Zusatz, as they have external docking areas.
Those Trojan horse bots make a pretty good self-destruct for a valuable ship
What happened to the orbit series I'm still not caught up cause I like to beinge watch is it over or something
Would it work better if you forced there direction down by packing them tightly with 1 block all around, once it breaks the bottom block it'll fly out.
Can you make them go off a sensor of the moment they try to strip the ship? Get a surprise when they try to take down the ship for parts
oh good idea, like a way for a sensor to check the damage of a part or something would be useful, making it activate something if its grinded or damaged too much XD! **could imagine a grinding ship just grinding it for parts, getting a suprise**
Exactly a ticking time bomb for when they go to grind the ship, they get a surprise gift
If you want the drones to cut their way down instead of out the top, Put heavy armor on the top. Most drifting objects will take the path of least resistance.
As soon as it hits, jump if you are able. It leaves the nanite grinders behind and leaves the pod attached, as long as your jump drive didn't get hit.
That ONE drone is cutting all power
A good idea for this is to had the drones face different directions inside the horse. One down, one up, sides, front back, ect. And there would be a timer block that would activate the sensors AFTER they started grinding, and got away from eachother.
couldn't you set it up so that the grinders activated before the drones released so that they make a exit hole through the ship?
Seems like it'd be best used in conjunction with a sneak attack. Use the parasite droids to get them out of the cockpit and then come in with jet fighters to take out all their engines. Potentially even drop more grinding droids. I'd probably make the quick change to have the droids drill in a straight line.
You made a larger version of this a year or two ago and I think it worked better because they would use more sensors to determine where the large ships were
Perhaps make them more like disks or cubes another thing you could do is add thrusters to add directional thrust that splits them in certain directions adding a timer block that turns them on and off would still create the effect of them moving around a bit but to cause maximum damage they need to get into the interior of the ship to be effective.
This gave me an idea to create some Mines in Space out of them.
Seems more like a mild annoyance than actual threat
What are those ships made of? They look to small to me a normal small shop, and I can't find what's propelling them.
What about some projectile that penetrates the armor and when it is inside, releases its nanite
Can you share how you made these small grinders?
you could try making it a remote activation so you have a couple cameras about and when you think the player has left or quit you press a button and havoc ensues
the major problem with the 'mini' drones is they cant get out and destroy most of the others before escaping. You ether need a longer ship to space them more or a way to jettison the roof of the ship to release the payload.
why not use gravity blocks on em? so when you land on top of a ship they go down or are they no longer small ship blocks? youd just used the enemy ships gravity cause most people park in a gravity able facility
may want to setup rotors/pistons on the same timer or something on the ship to clear the way
A sort of syringe craft that anchors onto the side of a ship, Cuts out a hole and fires in the grinder droid things?
*Oh my god I want to see you using that against captain jack! :D*
I would love to see this implemented as a breaching torpedo
maybe a limpet style mine, one that when you go near it, it fires a grid of them that just push straight forwards? if you have enough, its going ot be impossible to defend against
add the nanobot build and repair mod, these would be 100 times more effective since you can actually tell the system which types of block to target or ignore. I currently use a small ship to take out the enemy control stations and remotes allowing me to quickly place my own and take control of thrusters to avoid enemy response units.
maybe if there were some sort of release hatch that was timed to open as the grinders go offf to release them instead of having them needing to grind their way out first it'd be much more effective
