The SD-1 is an absolute beast. Isn't too good for your bread and butter 'analog' sounds, but for epic soundscapes, textures, pads, FM-type sounds, this is always my goto synth. The programming is deep, the effects are nice, and there's tonnes of inspiration and playability in it. The fact that you have 6 oscillators, all with their own set of modulations means you can get some pretty crazy sounds out of it very easily. I love mine, and I don't think I'll ever part with it, it's so unique and such a fun synth both to program and play. Your video definitely does it justice :) cheers!
That sounds like my absolute favourite sound (X3P-Keys) from a unit I had that was stolen from me. I loved this thing and I also believe it had the best synth action keyboard ever made. It played like a dream. Plus, I see your screen flickering. That was a common problem with mine too. Apparently it was a common problem all around.
I just wanted to point out that all of the sounds he was using is from the Ensoniq sound banks . But you can do much much more with programming the sounds check out my Ensoniq clips on my channel ..
Sverd from Arcturus did/does use the SD1! Its the sound of Arcturus. Check out his live playthroughs of Mortem songs: czcams.com/video/-Vv44OoZocc/video.html
Nice playing and demo although, I feel the sound of the SD1 isn't doing you justice. We missed this synth at the time, probably because it doesn't stand out + UK dealerships were rare. This isn't to say I wouldn't want one! It rather reminds me of Roland's D series tonally.
@@synthcloud These things are pretty rare. I helped in a music shop with an Ensoniq dealership in the mid 90's it was likely the only Ensoniq outlet in the UK East Midlands. We sold tons more Yamaha synths/modules and samplers than anything else at that time. The Ensoniq ASR10 attracted much attention though. We even had attempted fraudulent purchases on them!
It was nice of you guys to let this werewolf play your synthesizer

The first sound seems also to be used in Arcturus' song "Cosmojam" :)
