At the end of the day I think Akai is refreshing their line of gear
I think so too….looks like it has replaced the APC40 mk2
I love it, the sliders work great. I was hesitant to make the purchase of a beefed up launchpad pro, but glad I pulled the trigger. It really has an ableton push feel. I use it for notes and chords and use the apc40 to launch clips, awesome combo.
Does the APC 64 allow you to control each parameter on the software or is it only on some things you can use the touch sliders to control but other things you have to click with a mouse?
I’ll be waiting for that Force 2 - I use Force now for all my midi with Cubase
They should also market this tool toward the VJ community. Simply because it's more live oriented IMHO
I sold my force because control mode didnt work, because of the crap network midi driver knocking out all my other usb devices. So this is probably the answer as a dedicated controller without needing network midi driver. The one only reason i want this layout is because of dedicated record arm, stop, solo and mute button at the bottom. But then i discovered its cheaper to just buy apc mini mk2 and deal with pressing shift key.
Looks good for the Abelton users, but I'm gonna keep rocking my Akai Force.
If you don’t use Ableton Live 10 or 11 the APC 64 is not for you. I have a Push 2 so I will pass on the APC 64. I think Akai should have put out a new Force. Just saying.
This is for anyone who uses mid drum pads.
They just got smart and made 64 so you don't have to keep selecting through your 16 pads .
Esp if you're sampling. On most drum machines you play 16 then press a for another 16 then b for another 16.
This is equivalent to an 88 key midi keyboard
Whereas a 16 pad drum machine is equivalent to a 25 key midi keyboard
if you have push 1 this is better .....if you have push 2 or 3 this is a great addition i wan to see this and push 3 standalone it would be insane
I have been hoping for this unit since Force came out. I'm hoping it works well with Beats software. Could be my dream come true.
I think Push is very expensive and this is one of the best Ableton controllers for users on a budget. My only gripe is it doesn’t have knobs but a MidiMix can solve that for $100.

Can it be used as midi addon to the force? I struggle with the pads on the force. Looking for 16pad rgb modo to se with it but not sure which direction to go. Can the MPC Studio be used as a midi pad for the force?
I tested it out and yeah it's a big nah for me, because they went the exclusive route with ableton. 10-14-23
Next might be the Akai Fire
definitely gunning for novation launchpad folks since it can do external midi/ i dont think they should drop a force 2 till they finish the software for the original force
Reason is my choice. Have too many issues out of maschine software so it just sits there now looking dusty. I still may get the force one day because of your reviews tho.
Elbow I can't give you a legit reason why but I think the Akai Force is dead. It just had a bad start and lost some buzz. The Push 3 is linking me more to Ableton Live than the Force did. The Force is not with us....👾. Hey wait, Akai released an updated APC40 mkII....and now this???
it's a no for me. i'll stick with the APC 40MK3
