    This is EXACTLY the review I was looking for! I was torn between the CT6 and the XTS, but this helped me decide. I drive a 2015 Chevy Impala LTZ right now that I absolutely LOVE, and I didn't want to veer too far from it. It's the Platinum XTS for me! Thanks SO MUCH! I'm headed back to the dealership tomorrow for that 2018 Platinum XTS! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

    I have driven the 2014 XTS4 3.6l and was very impressed of how smooth and comfortable the ride is, and when the CT6 came out i thought it was better looking at the front but the XTS looked better with those tail lights, it gives it a more "Caddy" look.

Daily basis I drive ATS 2.0T and this car is awesome too. Bud ATS it's a madman compared to XTS but I love it sporty handling. I wish to keep my ATS and have XTS for long cruising. I hope to get a CT6 for few days and wander which one would fit better to me, XTS or CT6. I think Caddilac should keep XTS in production if that's ride like a boat. • @alexellsworth4415

    The reason for the key difference highlighted in the video is a difference in intent: The CT6 is designed to compete with the taut, highly engineered vehicles of premium German brands, while the XTS is a large, soft car at an affordable price point designed to appeal to taxi/limo operators and elderly customers. Essentially, Cadillac hoped to attract new customers in the former category without losing its existing customers in the latter category.
    I agree that this strategy muddles the lineup and confuses customers. However, I should note that Lexus has successfully employed it for nearly 20 years with its IS/GS models on one hand and ES model on the other hand. The ES may not sell to fleet customers, but it similarly offers a larger size, softer feel, and more traditional styling at a lower price, while the IS and GS are firmer, much smaller for the money, and designed to compete with the Germans.

    Excellent, EXCELLENT review! Yes I did wonder about those rather small center A/C vents in the CT6 and how useless they would be unless the fan control has a TORNADO setting on it. Here in oppressively hot and humid Orlando where a breeze doesn t exist and it's hotter than a dog's breath or a nun locked in her room with a kielbasa sausage, you need much larger vents and a hurricane fan setting.

    Wait, if your hearing is going bad, a noisier interior is less of a problem, so that would be a point in favor of the XTS, not the CT6. Aside from that, it seems the difference boils down to the XTS being more of a traditional Caddilac, while the CT6 continues the trend of trying to be more "European."

    • @wasabiworthington6352
      @wasabiworthington6352  Před 3 lety

      I know my comment on "hearing going bad" surprised some people. With hearing loss certain sounds become super irritating. It's not so much that volume levels go down in your head but rather that some sounds (like tire noise) can dominate what you hear in your head. :-)

      Exactly! The only real difference between the two are the drivetrains and overall lengths of each car. The XTS actually looks and feels nicer than the CT6, plus it has more headroom in the rear. The CT6 has superior handling.

  • @gwaddles
    @gwaddles Před 2 lety +1

    The most dominant difference is that the CT6 is Rear Wheel Drive. The XTS is Front Wheel Drive….

    • @wasabiworthington6352
      @wasabiworthington6352  Před rokem

      When you put your foot into it... the XTS with front drive spins the wheels more than expected and more than intended. XTS 2WD puts 300+ horsepower to the front wheels, no wonder. And then the computer takes over. It is vulnerable this way. Unless you bought the 4-wheel drive version. Rode in one once and it rockets out of the starting gate like a bat out of X$*&$% with all the horses onto the pavement! The CT6 2WD does less wheel spin compared to the XTS 2WD, no doubt. I would love to compare the 4WD versions though. So, the question is how often we pump the pedal to the floor. Me? Maybe once each year.
      By the way, from 30MPH to 70MPH all 300+ XTS 2WD horses get you going with no wheel spin. So fast and more than I need! Hang on baby!

      @wasabiworthington6352  Před rokem +2

      Your questions are valid. GM threatened to cancel the XTS several years before they actually did. And so here we are. The CT6 I drove is long gone...and they are out of production. The XTS I chose to still drive, against all recommendations, is still the best car I have owned in my whole life. Now about those mechanics who take the cheap way out and who easily recommend replacing $3,000 in struts and $2,000 anytime anything else is wrong (Not my local Cadillac dealer, whose numbers although are not much better) I can say this one thing. Prove that you are a real mechanic. I will pay up for proper maintenance. But don't just start slinging around repair quotes that cost more than a good but used Honda Accord. And, so far, every part I need has been available from an authorized GM source. The challenge has been finding good mechanics...not finding good parts.

      The headlights are "self-leveling" when you start the car. But, there is still some adjustment. For example, on my XTS the driver side headlight was aimed higher than the passenger side and higher than it should have been. The dealer mechanic pulled it down in a couple of minutes. I will kinda agree that the high beams are not quite as powerful as I expected too. But I live in Florida where there is almost always traffic and the low beams are awesome...I never get to use high beams.

The owner's manual or OnStar can help you turn this off or set the "Exit" seating position to something better.

    The ct6 does not have a bumpy ride what so ever!

      These things are relative. Compared to the XTS, the CT6 has a bumpy ride. Do an immediate ride-by-ride comparison and you will see what I meant.

      i agree, we own both the CT6 is not bumpy what so ever and does ride quieter than our XTS.....

    Wait, my hearing IS going bad, which makes me favor the XTS in that aspect. The CT6 is quieter, but I don't gaf because noise isn't an issue. What am I missing?

      Haha, I thought the same thing. However, a quieter car might make it easier to hear conversations in the car if you have bad hearing.

      @@Spikejou That's a good point, maybe that's what he meant. But Cadillacs are traditionally very quiet, and the XTS is definitely the more traditional between these two. I can't imagine that the decibel difference really matters that much in the real world; there's no way a big, cushy Caddy could ever be considered noisy by any stretch of the imagination.

      I am laughing. Well, people like me with hearing loss...certain sounds can even be quieter but yet more annoying. Hearing loss has unexpected impacts. :-) And this is one reason I drive Cadillac's. They all are above average with interior sound levels.

    7 1/2 feet of floor space is like a Minivan and bigger than most SUVS.

      Bruno TaTa I am guessing that you don't drive a diesel ford Excursion like I do then. It fits in my garage just fine as well.

      I know my comment on "hearing going bad" surprised some people. With hearing loss certain sounds become super irritating. It's not so much that volume levels go down in your head but rather that some sounds (like tire noise) can dominate what you hear in your head. :-)

    Xts is a impala with cadillac decals thats why they cheap asf and everybody buys them these cars are not even in the same category if you want a car with ass end that looks like it has a 4 foot lift kit in the ass end get the Fwd Xts ..
