- These dumplings are similar to Russian Palmeni with some slight differences in the dough. These are delicious and relatively easy (though labor-intensive) to make.

Recipe (serves 4)
----------------------------
360 g all purpose flour
220ml milk
2.5 spoons of oil
Salt to taste (I added 1t)
500g minced meat (chicken or pork usually)
1 medium onion
salt and pepper to taste
Boil the milk. Add salt, oil and milk to lour and kneed into a soft, non-sticky, pliable dough. Cover and let sit at least 15 minutes.
Mix the onions and meat together, and season with salt and pepper. Mix into a homogeneous mass.
Roll a snake out of the dough (doens't need to be all at once) and cut into uniform pieces (I used 12-15g pieces). Roll into circles with a drinking glass or rolling pin. Place a spoonfull of filling into the dough circle, fold, and seal.
Boil 6-8 min. Serve ith chicken broth, parsley and/or green onions, and sour cream. - Jak na to + styl
Thanks a lot. My wife will like this. 👍
Glad you like it!
So you do want to develop some gluten. By the time you get to that point you really can't add water and get it incorporated. Ground veal. Maybe a tortilla press would work. If it isn't perfectly round it means it's authentic; that's what my mother always said. I guess you're cooking the meat mixture in the dough -- it's not pre-cooked.
So these dumplings get me protein and starch -- what veggie would be alongside in Lithuania?
You need some gluten but not too much. This approach worked really really well.
a waste of time… roll out a large and thin sheet of dough, take a glass and press it into a mold. the sides should be authentically folded with your hands, not with a fork. But, I believe, that a taste is the same good! 🥰
P.s. Highly recomend add some butter with sourcream 🙂
Thanks for the tips! I also think using the dumpling machines might be a good option also.
@@WorldTravelerCooking That would be less authentic 😉
Hahaha. It certainly woudl be different.
