@PHILL SHIVELY I agree, but who knows how well the port would've turned out. I'm sure a lot of the voices would've been lost and the size of the characters would've been reduced. Would've been cool to see though
@Trzn randy Savage was in WCW in 1991, that's why he was only allowed to announce on Superstars when he lost to the warrior at mania. Savage worked for WCW for several months as a talent swap for Ric Flair. Savage returned to WWF when WCW changed management. but that's why Savage isn't in the game
I'm impressed, that was a spot-on impression of the late, great "American Dream" AKA "The son of a plumber" Dusty Rhodes! You can really tell that you're real fan of old-school wrestling! Too bad, he wasn't in the game because I'd loved to drop some "Bionic Elbows" on everyone! Truly a one-of-a-kind guy and it's sad to think he left us, but man oh man did he give some unforgettable moments and leave such an amazing legacy behind! At least, we still got Dusty's two sons Dustin and Cody who are destined to continue to add that legacy and we still got the "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, I don't know how he does it but I'm 100% convinced that man will live to be a 100 or more LOL!
That's very nice of you to say. I've been a fanOf wrestling since just before wrestlemania one and I've attended probably 30 or 40 Live events. I was in the second row in Chicago when Ricky steamboat beat Ric flair for the world title But I was also in attendance when flair beat Ronnie Garvin for the world title. I went to a meet and greet with flair last year and he was the nicest most humble guy and nothing at all like you would see on TV. By the way, did you like my Howard Finkel impression as well? :-) Thanks again

I played superstars at local movie theater every time my family would go there . Made me recall going to see Lord of the flies and playing this before the film.
I played Wrestlefest to death in the arcades and owned a Superstars cabinet for a while. Wrestlefest was the first game I ever emulated I remember setting it up on a friends PC using a bunch of floppy disks. Those chunky sprites were great and the Royal Rumble was impressive at the time.. Anyone remember the arcade game The Main Event? I could never figure out how to play that game, I think it was supposed to use those stupid squishy air filled buttons that some Streetfighter 1 cabs used..
The main event was a tough cookie to crack. I was never very good at that game either although I love the graphics. A friend of mine was the one who dumped the original ROMs for wrestlefest Back in 1997 or 1998 so it could be emulated. I was actually a beta tester when the original driver was written. The first beta I received the character sprites were all garbled but everything else is fine. So I played it for about 30 minutes that way and it was awesome. LOL
Really awesome video! I learned a lot about my two favorite wresting games! Can you imagine how sick it would've been to have Superstars and Wrestlefest on SNES or Genesis?!
this game is so good, it's almost unbelievable, especially for 1991. It's a top 10 arcade game of all time for me, maybe even top 5. This and no mercy are the 2 best wrestling games of all time.
I agree bro; this was the king of old-school arcade wrestling. I played them all back in the day, and WrestleFest was never made obsolete. I think it's even better than the fancy 100,000 or whatever bit crap thats out now.

Loved Superstars, Wrestlefest and Wrestlemania. That last one will upset a few but for those not fully angered, I had it on the Amstrad and played the blood, sweat and vitamins out of it.
I can imagine they said no to the Undertaker being in the game because Mark Calloway only debuted as the Undertaker at the end of 1990 i believe, and his character was very protected as an "immortal" character at the time, I imagine the WWF didn't want him in a game where he could lose a match and look mortal or look weak. Great Video by the way! Learned a few things i didn't know about the game! Subscribed.
I have this for play on my PC, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to win in the clinches, or the grappling punchups... nor can I ever reverse a move. I mean, is it random?

A friend of mine was the one who dumped the original ROMs for wrestlefest Back in 1997 or 1998 so it could be emulated. I was actually a beta tester when the original driver was written. The first beta I received the character sprites were all garbled but everything else is fine. So I played it for about 30 minutes that way and it was awesome. LOL
I think the best wrestling games of all time. We miss you Technos.
They created ton of classic arcade games
Really awesome video! I learned a lot about my two favorite wresting games! Can you imagine how sick it would've been to have Superstars and Wrestlefest on SNES or Genesis?!
Man I agree. One of the greatest wrestling games of all time and didn't receive one single conversion. Thanks for the kind words, please subscribe
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries yeah, I got you👍
Great video! I have this on MAME how do you access the LOD to play with them!?
Press the tab key and go to cheats that enable the LOD cheats,. You can do the same with Andre and DiBiase in superstars
this game is so good, it's almost unbelievable, especially for 1991. It's a top 10 arcade game of all time for me, maybe even top 5. This and no mercy are the 2 best wrestling games of all time.
I need to get rid of this video, there is an updated version on a page with better audio and more history
Probably my all time fav arcade game
superb! I remember playing that back in the day and it wa s always my favorite WWE game, atleast until Royal Rumble came out.
It's still my all-time favorite wrestling game
I agree bro; this was the king of old-school arcade wrestling. I played them all back in the day, and WrestleFest was never made obsolete. I think it's even better than the fancy 100,000 or whatever bit crap thats out now.
LOL, I agree 100%
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries I think you should do a video on the WWF knock-off 'The Main Event'. I loved that one too! It had poor controls but it was so well-made otherwise.
I love this game in the arcades
So do I:-)
I used to have and love that dodgeball game for nintendo!!! And this is the sickest wrestling game ever!! I was never able to find it in any arcades in my area when i was a kid and itd make me so mad!!!
I loved that dodgeball game. No matter where I was, if I Saw WWF Wrestlefest In an arcade somewhere I would have to stop and play it.
Usually saw Wfest @ the movies along with those awesome Simpsons and X-Men game that 4 players could play..fuckin awesome times
The dude who created Double Dragon also did Wrestlefest!!!!! WOW !!!!
Absolutely :-)
I love "Wrestle-Fest", The Arcade game and the show. The WWF WRESTLE-FEST Show in 1988 is an Awesome Event!!!
You are right, the VHS show is good as well
HERE COMES THE AX, HERE COMES THE SMASHER.... THE DEMOLITION.... WALKING DISASTER!!!!
What an excellent theme song
Search and destroy you,run and well find you, theres no place to hide, the demos will get you
@@johnnymccollum5935 I love that theme
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries me too..had to look it up real fast and listen lol
don,t forget there middle names...PAIN & DESTRUCTION !!!
Loved Superstars, Wrestlefest and Wrestlemania.
That last one will upset a few but for those not fully angered, I had it on the Amstrad and played the blood, sweat and vitamins out of it.
I was pretty upset with wrestlemania considering it cost me 70 bucks :-)
I honestly wish they would make a new Wrestlefest game, I spent so time and money on this arcade game when I was a kid.
LOL, so did I.
I definitely spent a lot money playing those game. Loved both of them.
So did I, the playability is still great even today
Excellent 👍
Thanks a lot, please subscribe
Good Dusty Rhodes impression 💪👍😋🤩
LOL, thank you so much:-)
I used to own a WrestleFest arcade. It was only a two player conversion but was still cool to have.
I am drooling with jealousy :-)
I can imagine they said no to the Undertaker being in the game because Mark Calloway only debuted as the Undertaker at the end of 1990 i believe, and his character was very protected as an "immortal" character at the time, I imagine the WWF didn't want him in a game where he could lose a match and look mortal or look weak. Great Video by the way! Learned a few things i didn't know about the game! Subscribed.
Thanks, I appreciate the kind words. That could be the reason as it does make sense.
I have this for play on my PC, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to win in the clinches, or the grappling punchups... nor can I ever reverse a move. I mean, is it random?
Pretty much, especially the reversals
3:52 - AVGN should've included this little tidbit in his wrestling games episode.
1 of the best games ever. Hours on here per character! Great times !
Absolutely, it's my all-time favorite arcade wrestling game
a game way ahead of its time.
Absolutely, the game hasn't been topped in almost 30 years
I own wwf superstars, wwf wrestlefest and wwf wrestlemania arcade games. I love the wwf line up in my garage.
I had waited the wrestlefest remake for years, checking the steam page about the game... after some years the page finally disappeared and i thought the project was cancelled, thanks to your vid i checked internet to know that it was in fact released but only on iphone and ipad...
Sorry you missed it but it wasn't a very good version. All I want is a straight up conversion of the original arcade game.
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries i missed nothing if it's for apple devices lol ;-) the graphics seems really ugly.... By the Way you should check the RetroMania page on steam, it seems that finally the pc version of the wrestlefest remake came back from the tomb but with NWA licence now ! So don't expect to have what you wanted either, but it look like it's really the same kind of fun than the old arcade cabinet. store.steampowered.com/app/1252300/RetroMania_Wrestling/
@@themightyomega I have been checking their page and tried getting in contact with the developers so I could promote the game but never heard back.
Did you overdub the vocals without watching the footage?
What makes you think that? Of course I watched the footage and Did the voice over.
Agree on no Demolition double team or even decent singles finisher. And I like that they have their real birthdays too.
Those Fools that did the IOS remake, they could of made some serious money converting it to all formats, if that did it right
Exactly, instead of a cheap cash in
Love the channel
Thank you very much
It would be cool if someone did a hack for this game that added more 80's characters for the original WWF Wrestlefest (Andre The Giant, Junkyard Dog, Ricky The Dragon Steamboat, Rowdy Roddy Piper, etc)
I'm surprised nobody has done that yet but with pixel arts it's a lot harder apparently
But someone had the "brilliant" idea of making a remake of theis game with WWE wrestlers of this era and release it on mobile phones. :/ Just... UGH
Great Dusty impression!
Is this still available on IOS? Can’t seem to find it on the App Store
No, the company went bust.
Not anymore, and don't worry you're not missing a thing
Did you ever play the Wrestlemania or Royal Rumble arcade games?
By the time the Royal Rumble game came out arcades were starting to die around here. As far as Wrestlemania, I played this a ton in the arcades. I could usually beat it on one credit. I always picked Shawn Michaels. Thanks for the comment.
The game had a lot more wrestlers but the playability was terrible in my opinion.. The second legends of wrestling game was better still not as good imo
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries No worries, great retrospective by the way, I really enjoyed watching it :)
@@Larry Thanks Larry, unfortunately this was my very first video and I think it's my worst video. The pacing was way too slow and proud to say the other ones are a lot better. I love your channel by the way
Certainly missing the PatMan we've come to know and love. But then I just caught the Pilot episode of Seinfeld this morning and yea its not what we all grew to love but its still watchable. Just like this here video 😁👍
11:15...
The AudioBoost Was Accidentally Turned On.

The AudioLevels Get a Lil'Up Sometimes.
I'm sorry, this is my very first video and I had technical difficulties. This is why I put up a remastered one a few months ago
1:41 Man that sounds just like the Road Warriors...on whippits.
LOL, you are right :-)
I found this video informative, but dude, we need to have a chat about audio levels and video pacing. I fast forwarded through half the video and didn't miss a single thing you said.
Take a look at the date on my video, this was the very first one I had ever done quite honestly the worst one I had ever done. Prior to this one, I had never used any sort of video editing software so there is that as well. I picked up the pace in the next couple of videos. C sorry you didn't enjoy it check out my other ones if you like. They turned out much better
My go to heel tag team was always Jake and Ted
I love this game, I have it on my phone. I might get the WWF Superstars game. If fans want to play something similar, but with a modern take on it, try out WWE Allstars.
WWE All-Stars is a lot of fun
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries I wish they came out with a part 2 though.
My favorite is still NWO vs WCW Revenge for N64.
Revenge is good but my favorite is either wrestlemania 2000 or virtual Pro wrestling 2
PatmanQC - History of arcade game documentaries Haven’t played those. Revenge for me was easy to master compared to 2k. Button mechanics made sense. Tap for quick hit/grapple hold for strong hit/grapple. Only wrestling game I’ve played that I knew how to play. Plus I loved the NWO era, Nash, Hall, Sting, Luger, Goldberg, Giant, Hollywood. Plus I loved Han Zo Man! I’d be running around ropes and turnbuckles doing all kinds of fancy stuff. Grabbing chairs and run smashing you. That’s what I remember. That and Golden Eye back in the day. Now it’s all garbage.
Hi pat great video ❤❤
Hey, thanks
You have to do a history of WF superstars this game was my favourite wrestling game ever I spent so many coins on this game back in the day it’s a straight classic.
I kind of covered It's in this one but we will see
PatmanQC - History of arcade game documentaries correct you did cover it but it was only a cursory look at WF Superstars and obviously your main focus was WWF Wrestlefeast. But listen at least you featured the game and if you don’t think it’s necessary to dedicate more time covering that game I understand.
Those were the days playing in the arcade
Absolutely, I have many fond memories of it
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries hell yeah
WWF WrestleFest was made by Technos Japan and Techno knows arcade type genre style of game play.
Great job

As a Honky Tonk Man fan, I wish to thank you for saying the "ofaaaaalltiiiiime" part correctly.
Absolutely :-) I met him at a comic convention about 10 years ago and said that exact same thing to him :-)
PatmanQC i love that fact that you are an old school fan (mark) :)
Thank you, I've been a fan since I was 12 years old
Great review. Any word on why Savage wasn't in the game?
