In this week's episode, we explore a thoughtfully designed home in Tampines, embodying Japanese minimalism and Scandinavian warmth. The five-room HDB spans 1,216 sqft, harmoniously balancing natural light, minimalism, and neutral tones.
Starting at the entrance, a sizable seven-panel shoe cabinet sits adjacent to the dining area. The dining space, featuring a six-seater set and pendant lights, seamlessly connects to the spacious living room with a 65-inch wall-mounted TV, L-shaped sofa, and travertine coffee table. False ceilings maintain clean lines, reducing visual clutter.
A glass sliding door separates the dining and living areas, offering a mix of open and closed shelving for decor. The doors, leading to the kitchen and bedroom corridors, contribute to the overall aesthetic when open.
The galley kitchen boasts a wide walkway, grey stone countertops, and wooden cabinets. A laundry area, ingeniously integrated, includes a utility sink, washer, and a laundry basket. The bedrooms, including a study and a minimally furnished common bedroom, lead to a simple yet elegant common bathroom.
The master bedroom accommodates a king-size bed and incorporates ample storage, avoiding the need for a walk-in wardrobe. A six-panel wardrobe and an additional two-panel wardrobe complement the well-thought-out design.

So well presented Juliana. I like the minimalist style. I think separating toilets from bathrooms is the only change I would make. A very peaceful home and I loved the sliding wooden doors that bring in the lovely Japanese touch.

Wow interesting! Could you please provide information on systems and types assoicated with sliding doors? I interest with this !
one wall, the one next to main entrance looks odd when all other walls are all dressed up, especially it has that indent, typical of apartment here. Having some texture or large art pieces will make it more complete although the whole colour scheme still look kind of boring.
It isn’t practical to have laundry sink built in. For aesthetic and practical reason, it is better to retain the service yard and have a big laundry sink for washing stuff that shouldn’t be washed at the kitchen sink. I realised not many home here have that. I asked around and were told they they did their washing in the toilet which explains why the toilet in many homes look kind of dirty after just a couple of years.

One of my favourite on Stacked Homes -- "Japanese minimalism with Scandi warmth". The only 2 things I can do without is the vanity table (I much prefer to do my minimal makeup in the bathroom) and TV console (we have not watched tv shows for over a decade).

Nicely designed, lots of good ideas ... but when I saw shower & toilet with no partition I "saw wet floor and toilet seat" :) haha, just my first reaction :)
Great for a short term rental unit to a single or a business couple Not practical for people who work, have kids and entertain. A little bit of mess will make it look horrible. e.g.Where do you hang your shirts & clothing to dry? When you cook, where do your guests stand in that narrow kitchen? Do they all leave you there alone?
The best part of a traditional Japanese home is the bath yet this house has removed that. 😢

living room dining area and the kitchen are just about perfect. homeoffice room feels too white and a bit of an aftertought. bathrooms look really good also.
