Not like my last joining servers video where I joined random people's Minecraft servers, not how I got banned from this SMP. In this video I joined abandoned / empty Minecraft Servers. Not Ranboo / TommyInnit / or any other Dream SMP member. This is a new and original Minecraft idea / challenge where I join dead minecraft servers.

It's pretty depressing knowing that these server are still up but rarely anyone plays on them. Somehow I think it just signals the end of an era to extent.
don't worry I'm sure some of them will have a lot of new "friendly" players :)

It's not that deep. There's thousands of new servers that many people still play on today. As people get older and Minecraft continues to get updated, the game outpaces the speed at which people can keep up. The same thing will happen to many of the popular servers that are here today. The circle of life.

the reason the servers are still up are either
1. server owner forgot their paying for it and still use the payment method
2. they bought the domain and server hosting/vps for x amount of years and the plan is still up (most likely imo)
3. server is now used for memories/friends

@@tutacat Almost certainly. There's no way someone making money is gonna forget about paying for a server they aren't using lol. They'll remember once they see the charge to the credit card.

I doubt they are using the same payment method. Debit cards expire.
Man, Dancraft was the server I played from 2013 onwards, I remember it’s decline and everything. Quite emotional to see on your video… crazy how times change

i remember this kingdom server back in 2011, my first ever server. it was such a cozy community, you lived in a kingdom and could build your own house and ask the "queen" or "king" to protect your little plot so no one could grief it and they'd tp to you to do it personally. both my cousins were banned from it and whoever gets banned would get a gravestone in the graveyard lmao

that weird feeling when you join one of these servers is probably the fear of liminal spaces - when we see a place where we expect a lot of people to be in, but there are none.
i dont think thats what a liminal space is but ur kinda close. liminal spaces alone are just places of passing that you need to go through to get to ur destination, like stairs or an elevator. what makes them unsettling though is when the people are removed and it's just the space itself. mc servers aren't a liminal space but it is weird seeing them empty

Wow... The fact that EMC ended up on there is surprising. I remember playing back when it was really popular and then there was a lot of controversy with staff and many players left for new servers or just stopped playing. Back when Mixer was a thing, stream base was amazing! There was a partnered streamer who exclusively played there with their followers.

@@ZachCogswell Well to be fair, that's a small active core left behind after a much, much more active past. There's a reason why there are 10 servers. It's because they used to actually see a lot of use. Now it's 2-5 people on each server.
@@Zandercraft That just describes Minecraft as a whole. EMC is more active now than the vast majority of servers were at the peak, with hundreds of active players. As far as servers from the old days EMC is one of the ones that have fared the best.
I just think that the whole clickbaity, sensational THESE SERVERS ARE **DEAD** of this video is a sham.
The 1.19 thing could be explained by the possibility that the activity on the server died down, the update was announced, players on the discord were hyped and asked to update to that version, but in a new world. The owner did, and only a few people played.
That is essentially what happened on my server. On my server, it was a combination of players realizing they miss the old world, plugins taking a long while to update (some of them long since being abandoned), and some players essentially speedrunning through the world, then griefing everyone else

It’s so weird seeing these servers frozen in time. Reminds me of a tekkit server I used to play on WAY after most people moved on. It got to the point where only me and a couple of players played at once. Eventually I was all alone many times… that’s probably when I moved on too… sad to think it’s probably dead now

People with no standards be like:
When the game was dominantly based on building, there was a clear division between regular players and griefers. To get past this before all the pay to win garbage (servers did have donation ranks but they really cared about you voting for them), servers either had whitelists or permissions based "initiations" where you would have to answer a quiz after reading the rules or even make multiple forum posts before getting whitelists/perms. This only increased with admission to a township.
I remember TeamExtreme trivia lol. I was looking for answers everywhere only to look what it looks like
I remember the claim plugin, where you would be able to claim land using a golden shovel.
9:36 I bet the reason that the server is still up is that it runs on a provider that auto-charges your bank account, and the server owner either forgot about the server or still keeps it running, because it does not cost that much.

I used to play on cowcraft in like 2014, it was a fun server, mostly creative and hunger games, though there was a survival world on there as well

I used to play on a few of these (Craftgasm, OriginPVP, Dancraft, and Cowcraft), and I recall meeting quite a few people on them. I had a little base on Dancraft below ground, and was just absolutely devoted to the underground lifestyle. That was years ago, man. I wonder if that base is still out there, somewhere, with all of that stuff and our pets..

In case you're wondering ecosity craft is actually a economy based server and gear does not do a whole lot for this server and is not pay to win whatsoever so this server is actually pretty fun if you want an economy based server
I used to play this, you have to pay money to place water in the sever it’s def a scam. I stopped playing in 2020.
ZombieHorde used to be a pretty big server back in the early days, they shut down but their code was bought out and it's rehosted by someone else. It's dead but still playable and I think the owner still works on it.

I used to play on this minecraft server maybe like 8-9 years ago. All I remember the name being **lihp** (It was a partially dead server back then). The only minigame i used to play was Dwarves vs Zombies which I really miss right now

Yo! I used to love Zombie horde back in the day. I believe the one you were playing is actually a revival of the server after it went down previously. The original server had a much larger playerbase, so I believe the game balance may rely on more players being present.

7:00, it could happen that the server owner bought a lifetime domain or at a long time, the ip ( so the server aswell ) was deleted and so other server and users can get use of it. Propably the domain pointed to some random guys server

iKonia Network is also dead, it's a turkish server since 2010 and it does nothing more than lagging though the developers still update the server every season and stuff but there's only 3 people or 0 based on turkey timezone

(Sorry for bad English) I remember randomly finding a server with 0 people in it I then joined it to check it out little did I know it was a server from idk 2010,2011,2012,2013 one of those and what I realized was that they had signs explaining what happened since it looked like there was a big war there were huge buildings and stuff that looked amazing but there were some untouched areas with some names .
Id like to point out most of these servers that where active once a pon a time died out due to owners not actively trying to update

YO Zombiehorde! That was very popular years ago, nothing has changed on it since really other than its like dead. Its very unique. All there is is a few maps that are new but that is IT. They still do update version compatibility usually.
I’m quite surprised PartyZone isn’t on here! I haven’t seen anyone on in that server for quite some time and it used to be pretty popular for its murder mystery before hypixel came out with it!
