  • How I build our shower come toilet come wet-room. We did'nt want a shower with a shower curtain so set about trying to build one without one.... Success (although a little more work) very pleased with the finished product.
    It has been a godsend on the road, cant understand when people say they never use their campervan shower. Although I surmise it is because they stay alot of the time on propper campsites and there are already showers available, we tend to wild camp as much as possible. I hope I helps you with your shower build.

    Have you had any cracking of the shower pan?

    • @ScottAndJen
      @ScottAndJen  Před rokem +1

      Hi Brad. There was lots of cracking in the end I had to completely re-seal with epoxy resin which made it look brad new (I mixed white with the resin). Re the install in this video I didn't apply nearly enough adhesive to the floor and if I were to install again I would be putting maybe a tube or more in large mounds to stick the tray better. I would also be tempted to fill any voids on the underside of the tray completely with expanding foam to reduce movement and improve rigidity. After long term and consistent use I would make the review that the tray is cheap crap and poor quality. However that being said there are no others that you can buy that are a set with the toilet we had. If you take the above precautions I would suggest you would be able to avoid the problems we encountered. Good luck

    • @bkk6211
      @bkk6211 Před rokem

      @@ScottAndJen It seems that your experience is not uncommon. To avoid this I'm thinking of sourcing a better quality tray and then mounting the toilet on it somehow, should be possible 😁

    • @ScottAndJen
      @ScottAndJen  Před rokem

      @@bkk6211 it could be an idea or just make one with ply and tile the thing. Potentially grout with flexible grout if that is even a thing. I would surmise there is some sort of material to suit as I've seen people using tiles in a van before. Maybe normal grout is no problem?

    Awesome video dude, thanks! Have watched it through a few times, getting ideas to approach my own shower build.
    One little tip: when kerf cutting to bend, the cuts should ideally be on the compression (in) side rather than the outside (back). It does work that way, as you did, but the bend is weaker. When they’re on the inside, the remaining spines support each other, leaving a stronger bend. 😘

    Hey Scott great build about to do the same for our shower, your video is very helpful thank you!
    Quick question -
    That elbow bracket for the shower mixer that you put on top of the batten and drilled through the batten -
    To keep the batten strong so you don't drill through it, I'm thinking about mounting it to the underside of the batten via that backing plate (not to the wall), do you think that would cause any issues?
    I think my batten is slightly smaller then yours so worried about drilling away too much wood and don't have room for an extra 9mm wood to screw into!
    Cheers

      Hi. Glad the videos have been of help. You can mount it where you want aslong as you can get the pipework to it and have the correct depth to cover the thread once the front plates go on. Just make sure all you measurements are sound before the cover anything over.

    I would have put the shower head on the other side of the shower room. No one wants the water to pummel their face while they are showering. If its on the other side you have more room to adjust the spray nozzel. It doesn't help that the shower pan is small to begin with but next time you are in a shower stand right infront of the spray nozzel where you are practically bumping into it and you'll quickly realize how annoying it is and you'll want to have a bit of distance from you and the shower head.
