This is sometimes called an ear pinning procedure. The video follows her from before surgery to 8 days after. Before and after photos of the otoplasty are shown. Hi, I did mine a week ago. they look brilliant, i am very happy the results. my ears they are a bit close to my head on the top side but the surgeon told me they will be normal after 6-8 weeks. i am very happy, better than before! i was really self-conscious and shy all my life. Now i feel more confidence and ready to face any situation in life without being self-conscious and shy!!

Looks really nice :) I'm fixing mine soon. In Norway all of the costs are covered if you do it at a public clinic which is great since we problably wouldn't be able to afford it right away.
Hello! I had this in november last year and I'm 16. The best time to do it is when you're 16 and under so I'd get it done the sooner the better! Basically you're in a head casty thing for 1-2 weeks and after that I was allowed to do sports as long as they weren't full contact or swimming. You have to wait 3 months to do these or when your scars have fully healed. I'd really really recomend doing it because it's really changed my life for the better!
I felt the same! I was never really that depressed about them, i am so happy I did it though. It really is an amazing feeling knowing that I never have to be self conscious about them ever again

had this done when i was 10, my mums medical insurance from work covered it somehow. used to get teased about it a lot, so happy i got it done.
I am going to have a meeting with my plastic surgeon about this soon :D i can't wait!

I wish I live in Sweden:( medical and health care expenses are really high in America:( But I have no other choice, If I travel to europe for this procedure i will end up paying the same as I pay here bcz of travel expenses! And your right after the consultation I felt better because now I know how its performed and everything! My concern is pain , did you have pain ?how long? what about the bandage?how long did you have to cover ?
@bwenstar Good for you man........or girl. Where did u get yours done at? I`m 40 years old and finally I should be getting mine done in 4-6 months. I live in Chicago.
@gizmofix I have an appointment tomorrow with a plastic surgeon here in Texas, it will cost me 125$ just for consultation,then its 3000$ for the procedure:(My ears actually are not that bad, I just want them slightly pinned back , Im like you I managed to live with the way they are and I still can! but Im curious to see how better I will look because I would rather have them alittle bit backwards :) Im glad to hear from someone like you to share your experience with me! Im sure you look better;)

@gizmofix hahah well thats a relief because I dont want people to immediately notice the difference ! Like hey what happened to your ears??!!! lol hey Im getting this procedure performed in the middle east for 50% cheaper! but at the same time I'll be visiting some family and friends, the first 10 days when i go there ill be in a hotel do you think thats enough time for recovery?? or to remove bandages?
@aniis2003 Yeah, you're right :/ I did the procedure with local anesthesia, so I couldn't feel anything at all the first hours. When I was back home and the effect wore off, that's when it started to hurt like hell. I took a lot of pain relievers, but it was quite painful. The good thing is, that was only the first day. The second day, most of the pain went away. After maybe 3-4 days, it was all gone. :)
I had a otoplasty 3 years ago at 15 and I'm so happy I've done it but for me it was really painful, I couldn't sleep for 3 days and even after it hurt for at least 1 week so think about it before doing it!!
@aniis2003 Yes. Health care, including ear surgery, is free here and most of Europe :)
@aniis2003 The pain went away quite quickly, even though you have this weird feeling that the ears are bent the wrong way :P And about the bandage, I had it for 2 weeks. When they took it off, the ears were still numb and a little swollen, so you don't see the exact result immediately. One might be a little more swollen than the other etc. After 2 weeks, they said I could have the bandage at night if I wanted, but I didn't have to. Now, after 4 weeks, the ears are still a liiittle swollen.

@aniis2003 Yeah, you should go on a consultation first. It makes it a lot easier to decide :) Is it really 125$ for just a consultation? Here in Sweden it costs 45$ for a consultation. If I'd have to pay for the procedure, it would have costed about 2300$ here in Sweden.

@aniis2003 But they look very good now, after 4 weeks total. You can go back to work/school after 2 weeks when they take of the bandage. You just have to be careful so someone doesn't hit or grab your ears. That hurts. The good thing is that no-one notices you've had plastic surgery. I have very short hair, so I thought people would notice immediately. But the comments I got was like "Hey, you've gotten a hair cut?". People noticed something was different, but not what it was :)
Even if its plastic surgery its covered? WOW! I wanna move to Norway now!

If you live in the UK and you're under 16 this is sometimes free- although you have to have a good reason behind it if you're anything over 12. I'm 15 and I'm mid-process now and I was VERY lucky to be given the opportunity to have this done. Also they're making cutbacks with this sort of procedure so if you're considering it go for it ASAP xx

You have to go to the doctor to get a statement that your ears gives you this "psychological" problem which it obviously does since you want to change them. You also have to be under a certain age.

How much did it cost and how much did it hurt after?
Yeah when I had the cast on you can go to school but it looks horrible and I wouldn't advise going to school. I was out of sports for three weeks to a month and any time is good really, just make sure you don't hit them and you should be fine!
its £2400 (approx) in uk 4 the op any uk people had the surgery abroad ..is it cheaper?

when i got this done one of my ears was really strange (not bad but like straight and stuff) so he in stead of the surgery taking 1 1/2-2 hours it took about 4 :\

@threeonethreeDETROIT hey i got mine done when i was about 13/14 but cause im from england i got mine done on the nhs so i didnt have to pay for it cause i was under 18. im supposing ur from US so im not sure how its done over there but yeah, u probably wouldnt have to pay if u got it done in the next couple of years :)

Hey! I am another girl with ears just like you and i cry every day and night because i get teased at school and i can never have my hair in a pony tail like every other normal girl. If i had one wish in life, i would wish for my ears to be gone and to have normal ears. I am tired of looking ugly because of my ears and i dont know what to do.

@aniis2003 But even if you have to spend money on it, it is worth it. I've had mine now. I never had low self-esteem or thought about it much. I learned to live with it. But I chose to do it anyway, and I don't regret it at all. It is one of the best decisions in my life, and I think everybody that aren't happy about their ears, should do it. :)
