  • This video is a FOLLOW UP video to my original video demonstrating the glazing of each of these pieces. Here is a link to that first video: • Glazing Possibilities-...
In THIS video I show the final glaze results of the finished fired pieces. I made the original video to help prepare my Ceramics students to glaze their pieces at the end of the semester. They were able to see the finished pieces in person.
If you would like to go directly to a technique, here is a list with timestamps of when those techniques appear in the original video. Here is a PDF of a Googleslide presentation with links within: drive.google.com/file/d/1MXUl...

I used what we use in the classroom, which is our Coyote brand stoneware glazes (cone 5 and 6 midfire) on our Standard 153 stoneware, a nice midrange firing stoneware. Since this video I stopped using that clay body and switched to Standard 125, a replacement clay body which has a smaller firing range to be vitrified at cone 6..

I am a public high school ceramics teacher at William Mason High School in Mason, Ohio. (Mason is currently the largest high school in Ohio!) As a potter, I have been working in clay for over 30 years, and I have been teaching for over 28 years, the past 20 have been specifically teaching high school ceramics. I love what I do! I have my own studio in my home basement, where I work on my personal pottery for my Etsy site; www.etsy.com/shop/KaransPotsA...
I started my CZcams channel a few years ago, to make videos to help my students if they are absent and miss a demo, or if they would like to explore more advanced techniques independently. I have been amazed to reach such a wider audience than my own students!
Please subscribe to my channel if you would like to receive channel updates, or would like to learn more about clay and studio processes!

I had a terrible art teacher in high school who made me feel very inadequate and discouraged when it came to art. He wouldn't give us any creative freedom and if you asked to try something he would doubt you and not offer guidance. His instruction was always tinged with a tone of annoyance and condescendence. Because my partner is a ceramics artist I have rekindled my relationship with art as an adult and we now have a full on ceramics studio in our home. Watching your videos is like getting the art education I always wish I had. Your students are lucky to have you and you are so kind to upload your content for everyone.

I am sorry you had a negative experience. That just makes me sad when I see kids stifled. My goal is to give the kids a little interest, and a little bit of passion so they will always have an appreciation of the media, even if they never touch it again!!

Hello from Naukati Bay Alaska. I am an Intensive SpEd Aide for our small school here and stumbled across your videos. I wanted to thank you so much for all the hard work you put in for your students. This was an amazing set of videos! You took the time to show all these different techniques and colors, but then went the extra mile to actually show what time on the last video it corresponds with! You are an amazing teacher and don't ever forget it! 💜

You are a clear, effective, concise communicator, your videos are focused and dense with info, and your presentation style is suited both to your students and potters of any age. Kudos on the series of videos demonstrating glaze combos and your refreshingly authoritative comments in each case. Your efforts are well worth the time and attention. Your students, and we, are lucky for your care and enthusiasm. You are the type of teacher people remember fondly and appreciate years later. Many, many thanks.

Just a random 50something wannabe potter from Dallas who stumbled upon the videos for your students and got sucked in. Loved, loved, loved the 28 glazing techniques and was so happy when you said there was a follow-up. Love, love, love #5 plus the drippy one and all the blue/green/brown combos, basically anything with a 70’s vibe! And the real red, love, love, love! I need an entire semester of 8 hour days of your classes, please!

I just wanted to say thank you, for providing so much useful information! I just started taking pottery classes this January, for the first time. I"m 53 years young. The instructor I have is lovely. But, he's not always the best at explaining things in layman's terms. I got a lot out of your Part 1 glazing video. I'm here now to see how the pieces turned out. I've learned so much about technique and terminology from you already. I appreciate you taking the time to educate not just your lucky students. But also the rest of us.
