we can change the size of the earlobe but we can’t change height 💀 edit: The game is a decade old now, it's not a reach to ask for an animation rework to include varying heights. My point was that height is such a defining characteristic for people compared to something as niche as the earlobe, which made it ironic.
If you came here to comment you already knew these and you find this video useless, that's fine, but there are many people who did learn something and I made this video for them. So let's stop gatekeeping the sims and shaming people for not knowing! Have a great day 💕
i think a lot of people keep forgetting that even though the game is 8 years old, a huge chunk of the current playerbase are very new to the game. it hasnt been free very long and it has way more details to dig through and find than it did on launch, super easy to miss things. literally took me 6 years to find out about the build/buy stair hack (using ctrl)
everytime i see one of those comments it annoys me, i know everything here that doesnt mean everyone else should since ive definetly discovered a lot of obvious things years after the game released its not like we get told every single thing so its easy to miss some small details.
I didn't know what a lot of these things in detail edit mode did, because I usually drag them by accident and end up distorting my sim's face haha. Thanks for the explanation!
When you realize that as much as you feel you are a cas/buildbuy/gameplay rotater you're actually mostly a Cas player...I surprisingly knew all of these for messing around in Cas...but nice tips for everyone loved this..also from the profile side in both nodes you can mess with the jaw to make it more out(if that makes sense) ...similar to when you get that sweet spot on the forehead...the lips you can also mess with from profile side in detail mode pulling them up and down I think on some presets it opens the space between the top and bottom lips...still messing with this one
I accidentally discovered detail edit mode lol It took me a hot second to figure out wtf I had just done to my sim. I was like WTF DID I JUST DO TO YOUR EYEBROWS GIRL cuz I grabbed n draged her to rotate, but grabbed the brows n brought them babies ALL the way up lol.
lips is my personal favorite because it can really define a sims personality, a slight smile or frown in their passive position gives a lot of character
The "sweet spot" for the forehead is easier to get if you remove the hair or choose one that is up off the forehead a bit. When I use that, I just take the hair off for a few
I’ve been dying to know how to do this stuff in CAS - in the videos I watched previously they go so fast I was unable to follow all but the most basic things. I was a Sims 2 player. Thanks for showing all the “sweet spots”
@@Jaz_Sims ik. But the game was promoted with the new CAS options and system and many creators that never played Sims before promoted it with just the CAS beta bc of this. In that way, Sims 4 became the most popular in the franchise, bc many people that never played started play for the CAS.
I actually found out about the earlobe one the other day and though it was one of the sliders I downloaded 😭 that’s so cool that it’s actually in the game
Here are some more things you can try: You can also drag the face up or down to lengthen it. As everyone has different face length this makes a drastic difference in the appearance of your sim. Adjust the width of the face, by clicking on the forehead to highlight the face in the same way as shown here, but from the front. This is a different adjustment than cheekbones, which can also be done. You may adjust the chin itself and adjust the jaw structure. You can adjust the neck from the profile, and this adjustment is actually different that adjusting the width of the neck with the sim facing forward. You can adjust posture by clicking just behind the shoulders with your sim in profile (a tricky spot to find as your sim sways their arms when standing) you’ll see the cursor/mouse turn from a hand to an arrow pointing up and down. Click, hold and drag up or down to adjust the upper back. Up = straighter posture with chest out or Down = natural to slouched posture with the upper back relaxed or fully slouched. You can adjust foot size - but beware it should be proportionate to your sim. Feet that are tiny or enormous will look very odd and off balance - unless that’s the look you’re going for. Adjustment of the sliders on fat and muscle mass will make it easier to adjust the whole figure, such as making a chest or waist wider or smaller. The sims waist can be adjusted from the front, but this is also adjustable from the profile/side which is a different adjustment than from the front, just like you can do with the neck. Adjusting the chest, you can drag it left and right to increase or decrease size but you can also drag it up or down. Typically, natural chests will be at about the middle of the upper arms. They will be a bit lower when fuller (although not to elbows) and just a tad higher when less full, (although not up to armpits). It would look odd to have an extremely full chest that’s up to your sims neck or down to her waist or a thinner chest up to your sims armpit or down past her elbows. There are so many different tiny aspects to adjust - especially on the sims faces! Play around outside your comfort zone and break the “same face syndrome”! Just remember to check the sim in side profile with each adjustment, before you save! As you might need to make a few more adjustments. Unfortunately, there’s not much depth to sims - they’re almost 2D from the front. This means they can look drastically different from the side profile than the front! This is a very useful series! I didn’t have any of these tutorials when I started playing The Sims. I learned the hard way until I had one very useful website that is still one of the best today: Carl’s Sims: www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/ They also have a channel on YT and tutorials for ALL the other sims games, too!
You can also straighten their posture by adjusting up or down along their upper back. I always slightly improve posture and make feet larger. Sim feet are so small.
if you look at your sim from the side and adjust their thighs horizontally, you can change the thigh gap! i always hated how when i made a mid size or plus size sim they still had a thigh gap but figuring out how to get rid of it changed my LIFE
They need to make playlists for shorts so I have a place to save these videos. Maybe you could make a video that puts all these CAS tips together so I can save it to my Sims playlist.

the ear rotation one doesn't work in my game anymore and i think it's because one of my slider mods is using that grab spot. which really frustrates me because i used to use that slider on like every sim. the ear presets are so weirdly upright

Height does require animation changes, ear lobe size does not.
There is a height slider mod.

about dragging out the face in profile, I always do that on the werewolf forms so they get more of a muzzle :]
OMG brilliant!
Something I recently found out is you can change your sims posture by rotating their spine up and down from a side angle

that sounds unnecessarily terrifying
