Tuomas is Nightwish. Tarja is a voice.
She's a magnificent voice, and I sorely miss her in Nightwish, but without Tuomas, there is no Nightwish. Without Tarja, Nightwish is simply different.
i must diagree...Tarja was heart of Nightwish...without her Nightwish is no more Nightwish...they still have good music, but when i am hearing "Nightwish" first thing that i imagine is Tarjas voice

The only reason Tarja sounded the way she did in Nightwish is because Tuomas wrote music tailored to her specific vocal style.
That's why, when he wrote music for Anette, they sounded completely different.
Tarja was just a voice, and Nightwish will live without her.
Tuomas maybe wrote music, but Tuomas doesn´t sing it ;-) but every member of Nightwish ist its important part...but if the members were parts, Tarja was glue, that makes this "machine" perfect ;-) without Tarja is Nightwish still great, but no longer perfect ;-)
Personally I find Tarja quite good, she does some amazing works, her co-op with Within Temptation (song: Paradise) was excellent. And half of the songs here are amazing as well. I do agree with some of the comments that some songs are pretty bad, but all bands have bad songs

The ascending guitar part at the end of Until My Last Breath sounds like Muse. Tarja and Matt Bellamy's symphonic music are made for each other, imagine Tarja singing on tracks like "Sing For Absolution" and "Butterflies and Hurricanes"

Tarja has actually said herself that she is a big Muse fan! Listen to her new cover of "Supremacy," simply astonishing. Mr Bellamy would be proud indeed.

This is probably her best album. I love it, its mysterious and dark. Her voice sounds amazing, better than it did in Night wish. I'm glad she left, her work is much better without them,
Hm... tbh, one of the most energetic experiences i ever had with a band was Nightwish and Tarja live... it was something special... but yea, to each music is something different ...

Durch Nightwish habe ich Tarja kennen und lieben gelernt. Ihre Stimme ist eine Offenbarung. Irgendwie muss ich es schaffen sie einmal live zu erleben.
Ein Duett mit Adel wäre ein Traum für mich. Das sind in meinen Augen die zwei besten weiblichen Stimmen auf der Welt

I'm like "wait a sec she looks and sounds familiar and I don't know how though." and the side bar had Within Temptation-Paradise and then with that made a connection to Nightwish and it just hit me that Tarja was a singer for Nightwish...and now I feel like a dork because me remembering names is similar to that of a cat's short term memory which only lasts about ten minutes.
Lamentável Tarja ter saído do Nigthwish, ela tem uma linda voz, pra mim n existe mais Nigthwish sem Tarja.

I think everyone was expecting her to sound similar to Nightwish. Well, she didn't write the music for Nightwish. I think my biggest problem if I had to criticize her is the lack of consistency. I find that with her solo career, I either really like her music or I honestly dislike her music. I can't honestly get through an entire album of hers without skipping quite a few songs. Luckily we live in the digital age where you just have to buy what you like unlike when I was a kid and buying a CD was a calculated risk.

+SuperMaligan Exactly. She has a couple songs that sound similar to Nightwish here and there and I've had arguments with people who claim that's proof that she's intentionally copying their style. She's going to have similarities because NW was her major exposure to the genre. That's only natural.
And it's not diversity I'm criticizing. Her albums are more like a bunch singles stuck together than a coherent album.

I like it. It has that delicacy that Tarja gave Nightwish. Metal is rough, it is the male force and the opera voice is sweet the female force, perfect combination.

All she needs is someone that can write music for every member of the group while hearing it in their head, like Tuomas could. Truthfully its a toss up between Tarja and Floor Jansen their both beautiful women with voices that can make me cry if i'm not careful.. I hope she figures it out because I'm greedy and I'm not done wanting to hear her voice.

What's with the sound of "In For a Kill"? That's not the cut on the album. It doesn't do justice to the song. The poor sound quality is like a recording by someone in the audience at a concert.

This is not exactly how I would have mixed the album. Does anyone agree that perhaps the kick drum could have had more low end boost? Perhaps more mids for the Guitars.
