2020 MV Agusta Super Veloce 800 Review

- It's not since the original F4 that we've seen an MV as gorgeous as the MV Agusta Superveloce. Inspired by grand prix racers from MV's past, the Superveloce takes that classic lineage and reimagines it for modern times - all while using the F3 800 as its underpinnings. But does it work? Road Test Editor Troy Siahaan finds out.

I think this could be the best looking bike ever.
My first response was "yes definitely", but on second thought it's hard to dethrone the late-2000s Ducati Sport 1000S with its half fairing.
Think? Buddy give your nuts a tug, it just IS the best looking bike, and im a die hard triumph guy.
Can confirm, I jizzed in my pants when I saw it.
Yo there's a successor superveloce 1000
This is a bucket list buy for me. I am obsessed with the contemporary retromod design. I am certain it's not perfect or all that special for a 2020 bike but for those looks I'll take some compromises.
I hope other builders will follow this retro design trend, it looks great.
Speed triple rr looks a bit like this
Well done, super honest and to the point. Very much appreciated MO fam!
An absolutely superb vid and thoroughly enjoyable! The riding scenery was stunning especially at 8:30. The top down visuals on that stretch of canyon riding looked like you were heading off the face of the planet. A fair and painfully honest review on a beaut looking bike. Thank you. ✌️😀
Somebody on the internet the other day wrote,
" The bike reminds me of Italian women.
Beautiful, temperamental, fiery and elegant, but high maintenance and dodgy electronics!"
Yeah, had a Rivale. LOVED driving that bike, but those electronics though.
Italian women are all different. What you wrote is a poor cliché.
Still ride one though!
Had a 2016 mv f3, love the bike when it was running. But will never buy or recommend it anyone again
@@willt1374 Yeah, thinking the same. Will probably not buy an MV again, it is just too risky. My Rivale almost made me stranded on the top of a mountain here in Norway. Had to restart it about 10 times before the damn Throttle position error went away. Think i'll buy a Honda next time 🤣
The intro was amazing. What a beautiful motorcycle! Viva l'Italia!
Absolutely stunning motorcycle 😍
I bought it 3 months ago. Amazing motorbike! The sound is unique, the power is more than enough, the electronics are ok, it turns like no other! Only con is that i am 6ft tall and it's bit small to ride on. Other than that its the most amazing motorcycle i ve ever bought and i have owned plenty of them. I dont know how's the dealership situation in other places. Where i live in Athens Greece the mv dealer offers great service. I tuned the suspension to my weight. That improved a lot the bikes driving experience.
Hi,Have you had any problems with the bike so far?
Curious aswell how's maintenance been
@@Gx60067 I was very interested 4 weeks ago, but after a lot of research I decided against it. Allegedly a lot of problems (electronics). The dealers are unfortunately very poorly supported by the manufacturer in the event of problems. It was just too risky for me.
@HotSauzZze I came to the same conclusion after a bit more asking around too. I have a ducati panigale and they are already hard enough dealing with. Probably gonna trade in for a black v2 instead of saving for a MV. 😥
@@HotSauzZzerear break failure after long winter without riding. Easy repair with no cost at the local dealer.
Awesome review as always! Can you do a comparison/shootout with this and Ducati Panigale v2?
They're both Italian sports bike with 150-ish HP
This is the old model [2020] I believe. The new 2021 is Euro 5 compliant and has an I.M.U unit with updated electronics etc.
Glad you have an honest review. It’s a wonderful looking bike IMO but yea I also think it’s a bit pricey for what it is. If its parked up at a cafe I’ll be staring at it for a while.
There are some people who just like to show up at a coffee show and meet up with people to show off their sport bikes... This bike should be it!!
The wing in the windshield is actually a divergent vortex generator.
They knocked the design right out of the ballpark, its a beautiful bike.
Don't you get the yellow option in the States?
Boutique, beautiful, Italian bike made for Sunday cruising like a Lambo.
If I had a Lambo it would not be only for cruising ... RWD EVO Huracan has an excellent chassis.
Until the tank expands and ruin the look. Then sprag clutch will act out.
@@Dranreb865 Don't be an azzshole and spew lies. Even in the past MV Agusta's sprag clutch was problematic only on some bikes, and even in the older bikes you can swap in new parts which fix the issue. And for years MV has sold bikes only with a new design system. It hasn't been an issue for any MV riders for years. The bike is reliable as hell. So way to be a lie spreading sczhumbag.
The claim of the tank expanding is just too stupid to even comment on.
Could you customise it to fit your expectations of excitement, without spending heaps. Surely there is a way, or is it easier to buy the other F3 models, or are they just as underwhelming???
Where did you film this?
How's the heat? Is it toasty?
So beautiful!
Break Light.. My My... loved it. Too much.. just love it.
After MV’s 800cc engine valves dropping and sprag clutch shenanigans on their f3s, I’m going to wait 2-3 years before even thinking of getting this bike to see the long term reviews if they have fixed that issues yet on their updated 800cc triples.
for design MV is the best!!
For technologies and cutting edge components, MV is the last!!
@@lensoprezole5322 No, your mother is.
Gotta love MV's design team.
They don't have a design team, they're all artists.
Is the F800 better? This looks great but it doesn’t sound like the best ride.
Traction control? Comfort? Abs? This is a MV Agusta . I appreciate the review but this is a (piece of art) like you said in this video. This bike is built and designed for experienced riders / enthusiasts.
At what point does art beat performance nowadays? Most bikes have wicked performance, but very few look as eye-catching as this?
that's mv agusta for ya
This is not a bike you take to the track. This is a bike you take to your favorite roads and push it to safe levels because who wants to ruined such a beautiful machine. I get the seat is hard but I am sure a good shop will modify it to your liking. My only issue with it is that it’s way out of my price range. Other than that I love it.
I own a 2018 Super Duke 1290r and 2019 MV Agusta Dragster 800rr Pirelli edition. I bought the MV over the Ducati Streetfighter V4. Middleweight bikes are the Goldilock bikes. I love V2’s snd Triples for their unique character. Triples are similar to V4’s but much simpler. The MV is the size of a bicycle and feels like 200 pounds. There will always be 1000cc plus halo bikes showing off new tech that will filter down to their other bikes. Super V is awesome but like a upright stance like the Dragster. Love the Kineo aluminum rims on the Dragster. MV is a very unique boutique brand like Ferrari and Lambos. I have owned Ducati’s in the past. MV has a bright future! Great video
Your pocket book is much larger than mine.
I agree, middleweights are really perfect for the real world. Most of the super bikes just have too much power for the street and it feels like you’re babysitting them constantly
2018 Superduke has some bad flaws : heavy to change directions, fork dives at breaking, engine buzz too much. 2020 model adressed those flaws.
I would have the Black/gold one with the MV spoked wheels. It is quit pricy tho..... 25000$ in the EU
Is that a dry clutch on tick over? How did they get a dry clutch past Euro 5? Honestly I think I'm in love.
Mv Agusta never had dry clutch.
You confuse with Ducati.
@@philippefaure8839 what's with the low RPM rattle then? I know Ducati where famous for a dry clutch but there's nothing stopping other manufacturers using one.
@@gerardmontgomery280 Yes it's true but it's the F3 engine.
So sure is a wet clutch.
I like all the safety nets. Hospitals are expensive. Just like stability control mandated on all cars 2012, tech saves lives. Tech has become smaller now showing up on long overdue motorcycles. European bikes, if offered, is standard. The 2 Big American brands seem to be options for safety for some reason.
Your happier on my Dragster RR..I could do a SaddleSore 1000 on the Veloce, I did one on my Dragster RR... 2065 miles in 22hrs. certified!
I saw one during a trackday on Alcarras last october. Sounded beautifull going down the straight. It might not have quite the performance or comfort but I think is more like a unique collectable than an out and out sportsbike. What is the closest competitor? I would say for instance a Triumph Thruxton RS. Very different but also the same in a way. Good for a sporty ride on sunday and it stands out from other bikes. The MV is probably more rare tho and fasther too.
Other than their retro-inspired design, the difference between this and this Thruxton is day and night. This is unbelievably sharp compared to the so-forgiving Thruxton. I had both a Thruxton R and an MV Brutale 800 at the same time (and I’ve ridden almost every MV except for the new Brutale 1000) and the combination was just perfection - Thruxton if I want to ride a motorcycle with a relaxed mind (much more comfortable, relaxed brakes, more than relaxed clutch and longer wheelbase which makes for a more stable ride on the highway coupled with its higher weight), and MV if I want to feel sharp (manual throttle blipping is a nightmare unless you’re on top of your game as the RPM move very quickly, clutch is just as demanding with its pin-sharp biting point, brakes respond the moment you touch them, etc). MV for a 1-2 hours ride max (more than that it overwhelms you) and Thruxton for longer rides. When he says it doesn’t do it for him, remember he’s a top-flight bike guy. The complaints are geared towards one who demands everything from a motorcycle and is benchmarking them against the absolute best. MVs are some of the sharpest bikes on sale - they just run short when it comes to electronics and thats understandable given how costly they are relative to how small the company/sales are.
@@kolokolok Thank you for your reply. I see where you are coming from.

I owned a 2017 F4RR. Too many mechanical and electrical issues. I was expecting a reliable motorcycle but very disappointed. My dealer dropped the MV brand from the show room. Issues I had with the motorcycle: electrical wiring issue which was fully replaced under warranty, oil leak from the crank where the sprocket is (even after dealer servicing it), gas tank deformation due to ethanol content in the US gasoline (replaced under warranty), engine overheating issue even with a better water impeller installed, vibrating mirror that was replaced under warranty, LCD dash that becomes dark & unreadable when the bike is parked under the sunlight for too longer. Issues with dealership: untrained mechanics due to high turnover, careless work (missing screws, missing fasteners, overtorquing causing damage to engine crankcase, missing clips, did not put the fairing back correctly after service), misdiagnosed problems causing even more expensive service. I’ve seen two other customers with Brutale 800 (MY 2017) whose engine was broken and replaced under warranty. The F4 or any MV bikes are motorcycle art for the living room literally. My F4 is the most expensive living room decor there is. I’m still holding onto it for my project bike and learning to service it myself. The F4 is a great motorcycle when it is working but my ownership has been plagued with too many unscheduled visit to the dealer. I will forever never consider buying another MV Agusta again.
My Ducati is surprisingly a much more reliable bike from electrical and mechanical perspectives. Aftermarket parts are plentiful. Dealership experience has been very positive so far. Service work has been great also.
Sorry MV Agusta, you are extremely beautiful to ride and to look at but I have no patience in dealing with many negative ownership experiences. YMMV.
"The sound is unique, .." Unfortunately it is not audible because of the 'music'. The sound of the motor would be the most beautiful music.
I wish you could have explained more about the riding experience and why you didn’t like it. Was it the handling, the engine, the feel??? Wanted to hear more about that. Apparently it sounds fantastic and handles well, MVs are well known for being exciting to ride.
Yeah, I suspect if it really was in any way flawed in how it rides he could've easily verbalised his complaints. Seems more like he's one of those people who fanboy on certain brands and therefore has to put down others dishonestly.
I have no problem with people having differences in taste or preference and liking other bikes better. But pretending that there's a flaw somewhere where there is none seems underhanded to me.
@@pistonburner6448 There may be something in that...…our Michael Neeves from MCN (UK) said it rides well, and he's a club racer and a great road tester. I think this guys a soya milk drinker anyway, can tell when he was going on about IMUs and 'tech'
@@JamchesterBoozle Haha, yeah!
He said that the bars are buzzy at highway speed, the plastic below the seat digs into your thighs, and the seat area is not long enough to allow you to tuck. Also thought the ABS came in way too soon and could not be turned off. No IMU. Price.
There may be some fitment issues from a short inseam that are also affecting the total experience.. Notice even riding with toes on the peg, his thigh angle is a bit low - hence the seat complaints. That could get into different brake & clutch levers perhaps, but if he gets that knee position higher, I suspect that cures some things. Maybe 5mm up/10 or 15mm forward? As a bonus, hanging off could feel better too.
MV makes the best looking bikes...
... And the less reliable. And with obsolete components.
@3:55 Only if you are a scrub. Despite, you have traction control on this bike, so you don't talk about no traction control but about an electronical nanny. :)
@4:04 It is more important to become a better rider than an overconfident one. :)
I dunno why or what changed but it doesn't look as good to me as what they showed at eicma whenever it debuted.
Still a stunner though, if only I liked inline more
That was the serie oro. It had a much deeper, metallic red and gold accents and a yellow headlight
UPSTART CONCLUSIONS - FROM UPSTART PEOPLE !!!!!!!
Wouldn't you be able to disable ABS with an ECU flash/tune?
all bikes over 125cc is required by law to have ABS as standard in most european countries i believe. besides the F3 is a better choice for the track.
I understand, but it is not my intention to abide the law. I value the freedom of choice above having a stock motorcycle that is restricted by such rules

The bike is amazing, only problem is that it should have an inline 4

Moving Art.
I prefer the 2021 variant in white.
Wait, is Troy tall? Cause this bike looks TINY.
Yeah, how tall is Troy? I'm 6'2" and a bit worried :D
Always hate to see such a beautiful bike not be at least fine for riding.
Uh? He's pointing out some things that are not perfect, but literally every bike is fine for riding. Depends on how much you're willing to compromise, this kind of bikes are not meant to be taken on 1000 miles day trips, bit you can still do it.
What the F are you talking about saying not fine for riding? It's the friggin best bike for riding!
Maybe I'm a bit old school, but not having an IMU is a big negative.....really? Tech is good as a safety net, but I think for many, they rely too much on tech and not technique. How did we ride before all these amazing techno goodies? 200+ hp superbikes are not something most riders have the skill to pilot, at least without a ton of electronics to keep their lack of skill from spitting them off the thing. What happens when electronics / sensors fail? Having ABS intervene too early is annoying, but it's the flip side to the tech coin. When it's not programed correctly, it's worse than not having it.
The issue is that at that price, it is expected nowadays, even if it is never used.
Had a Dragster. TBH they've got s cheek asking the amount they do for their bikes. Stop pretending you're a cut above (had 2 bikes from 2 differing manuf since - better quality), produce more - get costs & therefore sale prices down, sort out network and backup, keep making them beautiful and then you will have a great lineup in your arsenal.
I know im going to sound crazy, this bike needs way less HP, and no tech. Part of the allure to retro bikes is working for speed. Ill never make such a bold statement that i can take my bonnie scrambler round the track better than a 600 however i will have worked a lot harder for that speed, felt a bit more brave for it, and will result in my continued satisfaction. Smooth mapping was a mistake, i do want the slightest fear of danger like the fz09 the first year it came out.
The only thing I dont like about this bike is that there's nothing to customise and why would you even think about altering this beauty.
love to look at it...if money weren't an object...why not?
man this machine is sexiest
Ill see u around the twisties.life has a way of evening out.karma!
I don’t like the front end, plus the price.....
Orang batak ya?
What in the holy-freakin'-fuck? The reviewer completely missed the point of this bike.
It wasn't made to be a canyon carver. The potential owner already has one or more of those.
It wasn't made for track days. The potential owner already has... you get the point.
It's a cafe racer. The sexiest bike currently in production. The bike was made to get it's rider laid. Period.
Women don’t care about motorcycles. They have no idea what an MV Agusta is, and likely only will like it because of the colors. The only women that do care about motorcycles would hate this bike because they cannot ride on it without needing hip surgery afterwards. You could accomplish the mysterious-motorcycle-man vibe with a Triumph for half the price and have a better all around bike. This bike is for collectors, and like Troy said, people that Love to ride industrial art. I appreciate his commentary on performance because if the bike was 10 out of 10 in both categories I might consider buying one used in a couple years when they could be had for more like $12k.
@@MechAdv you are the real connaisseur. What you said is so true.
MV Agusta is not Italian. it's from the oldest republic in the world. San Marino !!!
Lack of space... anyone who is remotely tall or large cannot fit on an MV lol
The only problem I really have with this video is the fact that you indicated that it doesn’t really quite satisfied or however you put it, it’s really not what you expected.
That’s OK to say that. But then you don’t give us an alternative. You don’t tell us what would excite you. So we have nothing to compare this to you.

This bike is so overpriced regarding to the old components it has : old Brembos, brake master cylinder is not Brembo, no öhlins, old ABS unit. MV Agusta makes video advertisements that are degrading for women. Reliability is still to prove because it's known they are randomly reliable. Really a wrong buy 🙄🤦♂️ There is way better bikes than this and less expensive.
Not to mention no IMU.
What a horrible review. First of all you are riding an old model, and then you say you don't get excited about it yet can't even say why (because it's the dollars from Ducati that makes you say that?)? Then you change it to it not being good to ride, based on what??? Then you go even further and say it doesn't have performance??? Based on what??!! It is 100% fact that it DOES have great performance.
Pathetic.
