    I’ve taken this and several other online tests, and I score high on all of them. Still, I have this fear of being disbelieved if I ever do find the means to go get tested, or even worse, I get imposter syndrome about it.

      @@neurodivergentme I did this questionnaire yesterday after watching Jimmy Snows coming out video, scored 40. I declined the offer to chat with therapist, said then "At my age a diagnosis would do me no good or harm." Now I'm thinking being open about a diagnosis may benefit others who suffer social consequences, but I'm still scared.
      Now I'm curious about the scoring, several of your answer were different than mine, and some were opposite.

    Regarding imagination and pretend play, I'm not sure what the test is aiming at. Some autistics have a wild imagination, while others, like me, have not a all. I don't know if I lost point on those questions, but I have aphantasia, I can't (or not without a lot of effort) visualise something, create a image in my mind's eye.

    I am 66 female and recently got clarity of ASD, which almost completely explained my entire life to me. I am totally scared of telling anyone I know about ASD, all I can manage is to maybe say I am Neuro-divergent and leave it with that. So far I have not been "attacked" from telling anyone (like 3 people close to me), but I don't feel safe telling anyone else because of a lifetime of rejection, misjudged, bullied. I am glad I finally found out what the deal is with me, but it's also making me feel very sad for a "lost life". But I am studying every day and hoping to make progress within myself, regardless of going to a medical professional (which I don't completely trust). The AQ test is for me. I scored 44/50. I think I actually like myself the way I am, but it's almost impossible for me to have friends, but I am actually ok with that at this later time of my life. My grandchildren love me the way I am and maybe about 3 other people, maybe more IDK for sure. I am retired and widow so I don't have to deal with working and masking HARD and I don't have to worry about taking care of a man anymore, thank God. The problem now is that I still don't know how to deal with "mean people" so I had to quit going to my senior women's church group. I hardly ever go in public anymore due to distance and money and I just keep to myself which seems to work out best for me. I have to live in a very NT environment which keeps me triggered all the time so a lot of my energy goes to trying to cope to stay calm. My grandchildren and my creative activities are what keep me as okay as I think I can be. Im not really interested in meeting new people anymore. It's way too hard and stressful and scary. ❤️🙏

      I so related with your comment. I am 65 and just recently started pursuing this. My daughter, who is a pediatric nurse and neuro diverse herself (ADHD) told me she thought I may be autistic. At first I was upset but then I started researching (which I am known for in our family!). I had no idea the differences between women and men on the spectrum and how underdiagnosed women are. I did take the AQ (along with several other tests) myself and scored a 42. All the other tests also scored me as probable for autism. And looking back over my family, I think my father was likely autistic and my younger brother may be as well. Now I need to decide if I will try for an official diagnosis. My husband feels it is not necessary to get one but then he isn't the one that has lived his life feeling like he didn't belong! I think an official diagnosis may be validating to me plus those who won't want to believe this might be more likely to if it is "official".

    First off, your videos are great. I’m diagnosed as autistic, but I never score very highly on these type of tests. I got a 30 on this one which appears to be borderline. I’ve always felt like I’m not autistic enough to claim my diagnosis. I feel like I need a second opinion. The psychologist who diagnosed me is highly respected, but I just have those lingering doubts.

      have you watched the video by Aspergers from the Inside on this AQ Test? He explains more about it and says that 20% of diagnosed autistic people score less than 32. If you score less than 20 then it's unlikely you're autistic. But you said you scored 30, that's not "low" at all, even thos most autistic people score higher.

    I took this recently and scored 40, I had my fiancée take it to compare and she got 11. I’m not diagnosed, but I’ve thought I could possibly be autistic ever since my first year of college - someone in a communications class I was taking did a presentation on autism and SO much of it resonated with me, so it’s kind of something I’ve thought “well...maybe...it’s definitely a possibility...” for the past 12 years of my life and only just recently (the past maybe six-ish months) started reading more about and researching more about at my fiancée’s insistence. She’s really been my motivating factor in my own self-acceptance and been trying to convince me to get a diagnosis (but my insurance is garbage so...)

Knowing what I know now though, I would have happily saved and pay out of pocket. That's not to say that everyone needs to do that though! I wasn't able to accept it as truth until I heard a specialist tell me. I (and so many other missed autistic women) was gaslit to believe that I was just over dramatic and part of me really believed that maybe it is just that. When you've exhausted all other options and continue to struggle, who else is there to blame but yourself? That's where I was and the diagnosis really helped me accept myself wholeheartedly. Scored a 35, diagnosed with ADHD in the first grade, my mother used that as an explanation for all my “quirks”, but I’ve always felt something was missing to explain me. I do believe I am a high-functioning, high-masking, adult female on the spectrum. I’m more social than my counterparts, but I believe that’s because people and sociology have been a special interest of mine because of how confusing yet important people are to me. That trait does make some people doubt I’d ever be on the spectrum, but my mask is so intact in social situations that I can even fool myself about myself. This has left me at times disconnected from my true self, feeling major imposter syndrome. Wondering how many can relate?

    Scored 45 out of 50 and used the test as information for my neuropsychologist who diagnosesd ASD And ADHD with a bunch of subclinical but present presentations at borderline status. Cautions not to take on line tests as diagnostic but basis for recommendations for professional testing and diagnoses are usually made with certain score ranges. Many presentations may occur that as an individual are subtle enough but warrant attention. The cumulative evidence may, as was for me, was the basis for the diagnoses with the copies of self-testing scores only as reason for follow up professional diagnoses but only part of the picture and pointed out presentations I was either only partially aware of or not at all aware of but clinically significant. Admittedly professional diagnosis isn't the only path, that's a matter of individual choices and preferences. It sucks that professional results are expensive with or without insurance, and a second opinion may be reasonable but greater clarity and awareness have their benefits that should not be unnecessarily brushed off. This is a time when "it's all about me" makes sense. The intersection of self-testing can at least give you pause and a reasonable foundation for taking your next steps. The usefulness of "Self-Identified Autistic" shifts some of the clumsiness of "Self-Diagnosesd Autistic" away.

    One of the few things where we differ is that I really lean more towards fiction. Specifically, sci-fi, high fantasy, urban fantasy and paranormal fiction.
    Mostly because of the fact that I've always felt like an outsider in this mundane world, so clearly I must have a better chance of fitting into one of these worlds where the threats and the rules make more sense. It's largely a form of escapism. Also, in fiction novels, the narrator tells you what people are thinking, or at least the main character, so I don't need to work out their intentions, they tell me what they are.

    I've taken the test, and thought it was pretty lame in the questions it asked. It overstressed imagination among other things, and understressed difficulties in social perception, in executive function, and in sensory overloads. There was not a single question about either shutdowns or meltdowns. And I'm not even sure there was a question about stimming. The test comes out of the medical community, which is way behind the online autistic community in understanding autism.

    It's a spectrum... Being good at imaging things and being bad at imaging things does not impact if you have autism.
    ASD is about how much SUPPORT you need and none of these question ask if you have trouble doing the dishes. You can score 100 on this test and not have ASD, because you can only have ASD if you need support. If you can figure out how to do the dishes, cook food, work and other stuff, you are no longer "disabled", but if they don't catch that your not a normal person and need the autism guide to living and not the normal guide to living, you are most likely going to run around until you crash one day, the entire system is broken.

    Currently have a BPD diagnosis after thinking I had ADHD. Still think ADHD is a possibility but now Autism seems more realistic. Borderline Personality Disorder only explains my “improper” anger and nothing else about me 😕
    Edit: Oh, I scored a 32 on this.

    I had to do this test at 18 when social security (namely SSDI) was working on whether or not I would be able to continue to collect from my biological father's social security and I got a slightly worse score (46/50) than when I redid this test courtesy of the link you placed in the description and got 43/50 so that might be good 😏🙄.

    Last time I've taken this test I got a 47. I'm 19 and undiagnosed because I have no where to go at the moment. Nobody believes me so I'm trapped in my own thoughts never knowing if I'll have an explanation for myself. I was diagnosed with ADHD last year and have felt that there's more to it. Every autism test I've taken online I've gott high signs of autism. I domt know what to do right now, other than feel trapped without a diagnosis.

      I'm sure that's a tough place to be. It's so frustrating how difficult it is to get a diagnosis as an adult. I will say this... I don't think any neurotypical ever wondered if they could be autistic. If you're resonating deeply with the experience, its probably safe to say you are. I'm sure that doesn't help that much considering the serious imposter syndrome most of us struggle with. I would strongly suggest that you connect with other autistic women to help feel less alone in your thoughts. My channel is a great community but There are many other places... I really like Reddit for this. 💕

    This is super interesting and helpful, thank you! Since you like astrology, do you think certain astrological positions predispose or signify autism or Asperger’s? For example , moon is Capricorn can make people tone-deaf or moon is Scorpio can make people socially awkward in childhood?

    • @neurodivergentme
      @neurodivergentme  Před 3 lety +2

      Such a good question! I don't think that certain positions make a person more or less likely to be autistic but I have wondered if placement could make an impact in how it presents.
      For example, I'm an Aries sun, Aries rising, Libra moon and I think that those signs played a role in appearing extroverted/social. I've wondered if signs that are naturally more reserved or analytical would display more classic autism traits. 🤔
      What do you think?

    • @almond1739
      @almond1739 Před 3 lety

      @@neurodivergentme I don’t really know.according to your horoscope, you are a “people person”, I.e, there is nothing there that shows autism. According to my horoscope, I could be intense, anxious and socially awkward but I took the test and I scored 20. Maybe, some traits that the test attributes to autism are just normal in some people and is just another way of thinking?

      @neurodivergent me lol. I'm hoping I get my referral to the specialist this week. I've been working with my doctors for the past 6 years to make my adhd symptoms manageable but I still struggle. I'm hoping a diagnosis will give me access to different resources to help me better navigate this world. I love your videos. They help me understand some things I do. 🙂

    Hi. I am working with a therapist and have recently determined that I am on the spectrum. The reason I said that is so you will know where my comment is coming from. Your videos are very helpful and informative but, do you know the way you can’t handle some sounds or lights?… When you are in your living room, the sound is fine. When you are standing in front of that embroidery backdrop, it sounds like you are in an echo chamber and it is kind of disturbing to me personally. Because of me being on the spectrum, I felt this was kind of important for me to say this because some of us might need a cozier sounding microphone rather than an echo chamber. ♥️ Absolutely no offense intended. Totally filled with hugs!

      The test is definitely written in a way that supports stereotypical beliefs around autism... I wish that I would have included a bit about that in the video. As we know, autism is a spectrum and I have talked to many autistic individuals that have amazing imagination! 💕
