The Olive Rockfish, would be my first choice. Very similar to Yellowtail Rockfish , more common in Southern CA. Fillet perfect with no waste. They were locally called Johnny Bass.

My friend has 22' with the same set up, 225 hp Yamaha & 15 hp kicker. Tons of room with the sea drive engine mount. I love that rig.
The back up plan usually works out better than original plan. You will catch the Norcal BFT soon Adam. If you don't mind fishing with me, there is a space for you on my boat.
Tried again yesterday but no luck, sounds like it was an off day. I'll be back out there again soon!

I'm not sure exactly but I would guess 20-22 feet long. Plenty of fishing space in the back for the two of us!

This must have been Tuesday 8/22/23. The ocean was a lake all day and close to no wind. Doesn’t happen often in Bay Area/ NorCal region 🔥
They need to learn, trolling !!! Your boat is moving to fast ... Trolling is 5 to 8 knots ... Which is slow .... Just fast enough for the fish to bite

come on guys, get a real descender, you can make them yourselves easily enough and cheap enough, dont need to be ripping up fish to 'save' them
