I made a standalone comment, but just to let you know, as a former fence builder they did everything as perfectly as it needs to be. There's other things id do to my own fence, but this is spot freaking on and I'd definitely use this as a template plan. One little pro tip, pour a gallon(1.5 really) of water into the hole BEFORE the concrete and use a metal rod(we used rebar or just a metal stake) to get the air pockets out and push the water UP through the concrete to ensure it fully sets and is compacted.

@@joshuaavila8317 congrats! Buying a house is a tough process and I can’t wait for it to officially be finalized. I qualified to get a VA loan and the military doesn’t always make it easy to get the documents you may need. Hopefully yours was easier and the house checks those boxes!

I've helped build a few fences throughout the years with my dad. I used to hate it, being a lazy teen but these days it's enjoyable. You can be proud of how fine that fence came out. That piece of string is such a simple but helpful tool.

This reminds me of putting in our fence with my dad, father-in-law, and my wifes grandpa. worked in the rain and the heat, but had a good time. It was also a gift to us from both our parents.

Dan.....absolutely onenof your best videos, kinda got me in the feels of missing times with my Dad, prior to losing him. Every time you look out at that fence you'll think of these days and someday will definitely cherish the time spent and experience even more so than you did in the present. I don't comment much, but I'm going to say something from the heart here Dan. I worked in carpentry with my dad, then I became his "boss" when I was a hotel general manager. This video you just did with your dad, this is a memory you can keep, not just in your mind but also to watch. My dad passed away last year and I wish I did more things like this video when he was still here. All the sad things aside, great work you two!

Mr and Mrs Dan's parents, that was an awesome gift, not just the fence but the memories made and to be able to say Dan built it his Dad. I lost my dad about 5 years ago and I find myself clinging to the dumbest stuff now just because of the memories. Anyhoo, I would love to see Mrs Dan's mom in a cooking video, especially if she smacks him with a cooking utensil, also I think Mr Dan's dad should go for a drive in Corvette. This was a great video. Fence came out looking fantastic. Congrats Dan and Dan's Mom & Dad. I remember my first house. We moved into a cul-de-sac with all new homes so all of us built fences at the same time. Wasn't my Dad but a bunch of neighbours. It was a good time and involved copious amounts of beer. Our fence didn't come out as nice as yours though.

Enjoy and cherish this time with your folks man. My father was only a good example of a bad example. The only really positive male influences I had in my life were my Uncles. Its good to see a somewhat textbook Father Son thing like this. To add to this, seeing I live in Arizona and I have seen a bunch of fences go up over the years. I have never seen one that the posts were actually concrete/cemented in. That would normally from what I have seen been done for brick or cinderblock walls. You know for the Footer for them. Fence turned out really nice. You should be seriously be happy with all the work that you guys put in.

As a former Crew Lead for a fence building company, you guys did nearly everything perfectly. Aesthetically, Id have some revisions, and theres a few tips and tricks to speed the whole process up. That doesnt matter though because you still built a beautiful fence that does everything a fence is supposed to do- Provide a Protective Border, Be Straight Sturdy and Strong, and last as long as can be expected. Personally, id have two tips for ya still if that house isnt intended to be sold: Be SURE to stain it, and add id add a top cap on the fence(on top of all the pickets/posts). Either way, thats a 30yr fence, but you could eek out another decade on top of that before the posts rot out.
So happy to see you and your dad get to do this dude.
