- I knew nothing about these things - and with how cheap this one was I was willing to take a risk. It sounds insane and it's definitely exciting! Stoked to take y'all along for the journey!

Who else would love to see a dozen or more of these racing around The Freedom Factory 🏁
The Freedom Factory actually had a race planned for legend cars but only 2 of us actually showed up for practice so they canceled it. My profile pic was actually taken during that practice. And while it would be amazing to race there, the track is almost in 2 rough of shape for these cars to run for an extended period of time.
I love legends on dirt but they don't race them on dirt around here anymore...
They used to have dozens of Legends competing during the Desoto tenure.
My local racetrack in Sweden run them from time to time. Usually 30 cars per race, and they need to do multiple heats...
Parts look up VMS Motorsports, legends direct and great north legends. Can find Info on the search Us legend cars or INEX. I race these at my local track
I wonder what it’s lap time would be round the compound
Thinking the same thing
Exactly! Lap time before it gets broken ⏱️⏱️⏱️
This should be the time atrack car over the crx
👌
They have two RVs parked on the compound course for the next couple of months so it'll probably be a built drift car by the time anyone puts down a lap time with it XD
20 years ago I could tell you everything about setting these up. They have changed so much as far as setup goes. Now they are running 3 cylinder water cooled motors instead of the old 1200 and 1250 motors. I have a old video on my channel from 2003 racing in Las Vegas at the nationals. The video cuts short but we started 25th and finished 3rd
Awesome shit dude 🎉
@snussy-kp8qj thanks, I have a bunch more video including in car from back then. I am trying to get it all formatted over to upload. I also have this entire race but for some reason I can't get it to read on my computer. My DVD player reads it fine.
I had the chance to pick up one with the yamaha 4 in it, increased displacement and whatever mods were allowed, I also had my eye on a bike with the 1100cc version of said motor and was thinking about swapping it back but it never happened.
I'd love to see them get their hands on one of the US Legend Thunder Roadsters lol. Probably would be a lot easier to slide.
What would this kind of coupe even be called? Id love to find one
It's cool to see Hert and Trevor there. Getting all the legends together. Trev has insane natural talent for working on cars and Hert's presence is always appreciated. Assembling the dream team at LZ HQ
Big Trevor and Adam fan, add Chris and it funny and informative 😂
literally getting legends(just one) together
+1 Trev
Chelsea is the king of sketch. Every time Adam does some weird shit at the compound, poof…. The ghost of drifting past shows up… lol. Love these funky old legends cars, bro. You definitely need a dozen just tandem drifting around the compound lol
And then take them all to the freedom factory to race
I noticed this too.
I feel like the only reason he didn't txt Adam back about the car is because he was already on his way to the compound to drive it🤣
Can you imagine a train of these, drifting on a regular circuit, you can really pack them in there 4-5 wide - it would be great for everyone; drivers (cheap entry point, good learning car for multiple disciplines), spectators (as above, more cars on circuit/side-by-side), fun factor 💯
These need to be more popular, they already produce great racing all around the world, drifting these in their own class would be epic!
What engine is it?
Swap the control arms left to right and it will move the shock mounting point to the top of the control arm. Then you will have all the tie rod clearance you need
They won’t bolt up, they are side specific.
they are made to turn left...lot's to be done
@@bos200409they race circuits also. They turn left and right.
@@zacharyhonaker5305 looks like it worked though.
That's like 1/2 of a stanced car, except you'll be going right instead of left
The spindles and control arms are sold by the racing series that regulates them. It is stamped on the arms and that website will lead you to alot of good parts and information.
One thing about drifting this is to keep the RPM’s high. It may have 120ish HP but it has low torque. So you need to keep the RPM up to keep the wheels spinning.
And be ready to change the clutch soon.
Let's get #cooking
This needs to be a thing : Adam buys random race cars and tries to turn them into drift cars
Love it 👍
next up a cup car chassis
@@OhDoctorrLosey from Lone star already did this
Well the prices on those lil speed demons just went up no doubt! I love this type of content, I had a blast watching yall having a blast!
Exactly what I thought as well 😂😂
They are popular around here and have been for years with several tracks around me that run them so they are already way more than 4k lol.
I thought, "RIP affordable legends." There's a stunt driver at Goodwood FOS that drifts a legends car in between run groups. Terry Grant was the name.
Brand new legends from inex is abt 20 grand. They now have a mz09 motorcycle engine in them. Cost of affordable racing is out the window now.
It’s so cool seeing Sam, Hert, Chelsea and the whole crew out there laughing it up having fun. Watching this video brought me up after being down most of the day. Thank you so much.
OG Hoonigan Daily Transmission vibes
Was massive in Australia at one point.
You may find information if you google "Aussie Legend" race cars.
They made them with miniature Australian Ford Falcon and Holden Commodore body shells as well.
A lot of the legends use Toyota Corolla/corona/celica rear axles and front suspension. There is a difference between ring gears, 8 bolt vs 10 bolt. There are different axles shafts, the later are generally bigger with more splines. Use smaller stuff as long as gear ratios support needed rpm range because of weight savings. Weir racing does have upgrades. There is a full float conversion out there. Just a few thoughts
Those things are a ton of fun on a track. That bike clutch is not going to hold up to repeated clutch kicks though.
good thing they are cheap and easy to replace
Shouldn’t need to clutch kick it if I had to guess it makes enough power to slide without it
You’d be surprised how much abuse those clutches can take. My clutch has 2 race seasons on it, probably well over 100 race starts - 13.5K RPM near clutch dump, every single start. Stock clutch, stock springs. Doesn’t slip, still makes the same HP numbers.
as many times i've seen stunters use their clutch when doing circle wheelies, I think it should be fine. Shoutout to DankWheelie
It's a wet oil bath clutch it should be just fine unless they over heat the motor over and over again
Years ago, these things were all the rage in the magazines. I loved the concept of the older body shape, downsized, with the street bike drivetrain. It sort of reminds me of some of the dirt track racing I went to see when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s.
You can't go wrong with one of these, everything is replaceable for dirt cheap, and what's better...can be reached easy! Love that. They can roll over in grass, and I've seen people out near Judge road when it used to be dirt, near the Orlando Airport(pre 9/11) having a fkn blast in these. I've always wanted one, to actually be part of the series, but never had the time, or room needed. You are goign to have a lot of fun, and a few headaches, but I bet it's worth it! :D
Yeah im more interested in seeing what time this thing can put down around the compound. I freaking love this thing. Need to find a salvage kawasaki h2 to engine swap it. That thing would be a straight death trap then. 😂 Although a busa engine would be way cheaper.
Sick blazzer 😎👍
And Busa is easier to fix. More parts readily available
Busa or zx14r cheaper than h2r big displacement and good tq. Also way more available. H2R is like impossible to find the motor also will be like 3x the price.
Wrecked r1 or zx10/zx14
Another video where Collete has the perfect opportunity to obliterate Adam's ego without trying lmao "why are u so tiny" hahahaha
I thought I was the only one that notices what she does lol
@adamlz I thought this was on its way to a million views.. such a great idea and addition to the channel!
That has to be an absolute thrill to drive. I can’t wait for the future content that this thing will produce.
I just started racing these not too long ago on my channel. I’m trying to put as much information i can on here, but I don’t have 20 years of experience like some people.
I’ll check you out bro
Adam just playing Forza horizon or something in real life on his own compound😂. Love it man!
Hey Adam, it's not necessarily bent. Legend cars are made to turn best in one direction so they have little modifications done to suspension components to make turning easier in that direction.
As a DVET ,paralyzed and ex racer .i must say that this is one of the best videos you’ve done
Don’t know what they’re called, but I think horizontal slit vents in the front fender would looks sick opposed to the holes drilled in them
louvers?
it's called a Legend, they're raced all over the globe on both dirt/paved ovals and on circuits. search for Legend racing for more info and/or videos
@@drewoleYup
They’re called Legends cars
nobody asked lmao@@crazyepl666
Definitely needs to make some laps around the freedom factory 💯💯💯💯
Hell yea! Can't wait to see what you do with this, they are a blast, shortwheel base and a lot of low end torque, they can kick the rear out real easily. Not sure if I can help as I'm located up in North Carolina but been racing these for close to a decade, anything I can help with just let me know! Set up right they should self steer, in races when I kicked the rear out in the rain, I'd basically just let go of the wheel and catch it and it'd self center, sometimes needing a little kick back.
Main points to adjust control pinion angle of the rearend housing, camber, caster, toe, ackermann, and bump steer is about all you got on these.
These cars are incredibly safe, at least in their application, not a single death in the decades they've been driven, I've been in my fair share of them myself.
Edit, also not sure if it was mentioned in the video but those carbs need to be cleaned, really small jets on them and that stutter at 15:53-16:00 going up the revs is from the gummed up carbs, cleaned up you'll have much better throttle response and control when it's on the lower half of the RPM range.
Ohhh that one is gonna be fun to see what you guys do with. Love it
Steve Morris saw your 4 rotor at PRI and was very impressed. You should do a collaboration with him and teach him to drift. You, Cleetus and Steve at the FF.
That'd be sick! Also just need Adam to get a SM engine in a drift car, that'd be -bonkers-.
Terry Grant is the master at drifting these. Made a whole career outa one of these to the point he did the mini scenes in the remake of the Italian job.
Big up terry grant
Love seeing Terry Grant throw cars about at Santa Pod
Man, I was watching the video, and remembered about Terry Grant from about 10-15 years ago, he was a big thing back in the late 00's...
You beat me to it! They need to hit him up for setup tips...
So what kinda race car is this?
Looks like a blast! Gonna have a bunch of legend cars rippin around the LZ Compound soon!
There used to be a race series of these in Australia, I remember it being a beginner/filler segment in televised Motorsport. There was a fleet of about 25 competing around the country.
@18:16 The words no man wants to hear. EVER
Thanks Collette 🤣
I was looking for this comment XD
My favorite content on your channel! Random smiles per gallon, personal projects, obnoxious car stuff... Thank you Adam LZ!
These are known as Legend cars. A ton of fun to race. Many years ago my brother won the national championship racing these in the pro league. He also smashed Kyle Bush home track record back when he was still racing these back in the day. Good times.
Absolutely stoked for this! Those cars are so cool
Hert is no doubt my favorite person on the internet. Dude is such a blast to be around. Always laughing enjoying life. Heck yeah 🤘
These things are really common in the UK, big scene for them. Very fun, very light, very easy to work on and repair. Reliability… well a very highly stressed engine with a lot of weight compared to what it was designed for… and a lot more mechanical grip too.
UK also has Fun Cup cars. Those look like a blast!
You can put any bike engine in... Even the old i4 250s 20k rpm are a bunch of fun
You could just gear them slower for more torque and less stress on the engine.
@@alexfeatherstone6676 They already are, but the gear ratios are so close it almost makes them pointless for shifting. 1st gear does almost 50mph in these down from 90
Wait until they hear of them f1 stockcars 😂
Got to love it. We race these at the dirt track and have 2 for sale right now!
Love your videos, Man. Thanks.
Its mostly a kids series for nascar or whelen modified. Most local circle tracks run these. Cleetus can prob put you in touch with people who know alot about them.
Facts!☝🏻
I watched people transition from legend to late model/modified, all the time, i used to pit for a guy who ran figure 8, demo derby, trailer races you name it.. but it was always a symphony of exhaust notes during the legend races...lol
It is a legend they were also called midget cars way back. My Grandpa has built them along with scaled down modified, sprint, and late model dirt cars. All powered by street bike engines.
Looks like the Dwarf Cace Coupe we raced in dirt & road banked ovals when I was a kid. Haven't seen those in years. I got out of cars when I started racing motocross. These are cool little cars.
I raced dwarf cars for a while, tons of fun especially on a dirt track. They are so basic and easy to work on. Not sure how many clutch kicks that motorcycle clutch is going to take though. Those FJ engines have a diaphragm clutch spring and some of the drag race guys would double spring them to keep em locked up.
not just race guys, my daily fj has a doubled spring too. also there are aftermarket pressure plates that use coilsprings not for weak hands though :D
Adam, you guys should all do NASCAR paint schemes on your legends. I figure since you're #5, a Kyle Larson or old Terry Labonte scheme would be sick!
This bring me back to 2009 when I saw a Legends Car race in the small town in Finland I live in. They made a temporary race track on the streets of an industrial area close the the city center and raced a few different classes, one of which was Legends. Certainly was something to behold watching a full grid of these zoom around. I don't think I've seen one of these cars anywhere ever since! (except for rFactor)
This is the kind of car i learned how to race in when i was a kid. Way back when my family would run late models we'd bring one of these along and most of the time the track would let me sling it around before they'd start practice or qualifying and stuff. Even got to be an honorary pace car a few times in one.
That looks like serious fun and looking forward to the upcoming content
Adam with a legend car is the content we needed these are big around here in Canada for racing circle track and people been using them auto cross as well
I love thr fact that Adam knows how to keep his fans laughing because his ideas are amazing 😊
Just a heads up when these have a cage windshield instead of open or clear glass it’s usually a dirt car. If that motor is a 1200 it’s an old old car. If it’s a 1250 it’s closer to a 2010-2018 car. FZ water cooled direct injection motors were 2018-2023. The new motors are the MT09 with is basically a FZ09 with an electronic throttle.
As far as them being unsafe, it’s wrong. In like 50 years they’re hasn’t been a single death in one of these. And there has been an insane amount of races since then. Like in the hundreds of thousands. It’s box tubing but they’re safe cars.
Also the reason it’s probably hard to drift is because those tires are usually really grippy and soft for the 90ftlb and 160hp they make.
I remember seeing a really similar car growing up parked at the street side of the entrance to Portland International Raceway circle Dirt Track same color and everything. They took out the track and it's now a shipping hub
I remember seeing these Legend cars when I was young at the dirt track that used to be near Denver airport (Rocky Mountain National Speedway). Get about a dozen of them coming up the straight in a group and they sound like a deafening swarm of angry bees. The drivers were always cool af, letting little kids sit in the cars in the pits and also signing pics of the cars for them to take home.
Adam is honestly the best person for this car he’s able to give this car the life it deserves
This is my first visit to your channel. Wow dude this sure looks like fun. You know what? I just subbed. Greetings from Germany CU
I’ve always loved the Legend cars such a cool little set up,so many cool was this could go.I’ve always wondered if you could customize one into like a mini Rally car/cross cart style thing???
In New Zealand they are called Star cars, In Australia they as called Lil aussie racing cars. For reverse we engieered a disc with a cog and installed a starter motor so a button was pushed to go backwards, could only be done with the engine running otherwise the battery went flat. Lot of fun and yes I have seen one drift.
Let's go. Keep killing the game lzmfg crew!
I saw the legend and had to check you guys out but we race them up here in New England great way to learn how to race in if you can run it on the track and do well your well on the way to the the checkered flag
Hey there! I never saw this channel before, and didn´t finish the video yet but i´m very happy to the algorithmic work´s.
Cheers!
Adam, you reached to anyone in Central Florida for help. Well there is a shop in Lady Lake Florida that specializes in all aspects of Legend cars. They race, repair and sell all parts for these cars. They are located on Lake Griffin Rd about 1 1/2 miles east of SR441/27. Look for the shop with 1/2 dozen race haulers. James is the contact.
My father raced a class of cars similar to these; Dwarf Cars. We used the GSXR 750, 1100, and 1200 bandit oil cooled motors. I think dad still have a few of the motors, jugs, cams, and carb setups in storage. They did some wild stuff back in the day. Defentaly the reason a few rules were made. As the local dirt tracks died off, so did the Dwarf Car class. The legend class kept going, but the two classes were very similar. I remeber a few legends cars racing with us. I always thought their body style was cool bc I didn't get to see them as often.
Those little bastards were fast as hell. I knew a guy who ran 750 class and could do 140 on a dirt track straightaway. I damn near killed myself driving it; almost had a close encounter with a tree in his backyard. So much fun.
I’ve been waiting for something like this. The compund is PERFECT for it 😂😂
I think they're called Legends... We have a championship with these things, both national level and european
Unusual mint little car bro. Another fun project!
These things are incredibly popular by me. At least 20-25 cars enter each race at Riverhead Raceway on Long Island each week
Adam is the friend with many toys that when you visit you don't wanna leave
We definitely need a lap time in this little thing. The new fountains look good btw
Never seen this channel before but I sat in that car the day it was sold at Fischer and Roes auction. I got confirmation when I saw that little turbine. The guy who brought it to the sale said he never got the throttle all the way to the floor when he took it around the track. Scary fast for as small as it is.
We have similar cars in Australia in a race series called Aussie race cars. They run Yamaha R1 engines and race on all over Australia! Super cool to see these still kicking
These are always the best episodes, especially when you have literal legends like Chelsea and Hert involved too
adam’s car obsession is definitely growing to be an amazing one at that. sheesh broski
“I’ve got so much dust in my eyes and love in my heart right now” these are the moments that make you a car enthusiast for life! ❤️
That thing is hilarious!! Reminds me of something out of 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit'.🤣 Love the old late 30's, early 40's body style. Once you get the suspension gremlins worked out, you can do most anything with it. Short track asphalt would be really fun! (or dirt track).😉👍👍
Pennzoil make 4T which is a 4 stroke motorcycle oil specially developed for motorcycles with wet clutches ,which is what u should have used
Looking forward to this doing a lap of the compound!
Build it as it should then start to race and see if you are as good as you think you are it’s great racing.👍🇬🇧
I’ve built and raced so many legend cars, love to see you got one bro
Legends class. I love watching them race.
Your best place for some information is probably racing forms. They race these legend cars a lot around the mid west. Here in Ohio we have them at local dirt tracks. So from a dirt track background I love to see this thing on the channel ! Love to see you take it on a dirt circle track where it belongs 👌🫶🏽
You should build your own off that chassis and engine setup. Be cool to see a custom mini drifter build.
I owned one and raced it on a circle track for a season, have a pretty good working knowledge of these cars if you have questions. The new ones have the FZ09 engine in them and yeah a new one runs about 18-19K.
So much fun on the island. You know ya want one !!!
I love when everyone comes together for the invitational content be so good
Dude this thing could absolutely obliterate the compound record and I think with some good R and a lot of D this thing will drift pretty damn well. With some suspension/ steering, tire and gearing tweaks possibly a little more power or even more importantly torque this thing will probably be a good or at least really fun drift machine and I'm stoked for it 👌👌👌
Glad to see you have your hands on an Aussie Legend. They were originally designed and built by a guy named Gary Ward, don't know if he's still on this earth. I'm sure someone in Australia could chase up info for you, and if Gary is still around.
What car is this actually??
@@jedivanrooyen9614 Its an INEX Legends car, raced on short oval tracks and smaller road courses. They come in like 3 or 4 different bodies of old 30s cars
this is sooo cool ! my sister used to race these out in vegas
id enjoy a full build series turning this into a beast at the drift track!
In Denmark it is a reel race league and super affordable one.
They are powered by a yzf 1300 Yamaha motor.
I owned one myself and loved rippin around.
Here in Denmark the nice ones goes for around 9-11 grand
Jeg har bygget udstødninger og forskellige andre dele til et par teams her omkring Djursland/Århus.
Det er virkelig nogen fede små biler...
You can get alot of information on them here in Las Vegas nv. You guys are going to have alot of fun with the legend. Also they are made to turn left on the oval.
Legends Car. I raced those when I was a teenager. Very fun and fast and shouldn't have any problem drifting even as stock setup. They used to have a built in electronic rev limiter at 10,200.
LEGEND cars always look like so much fun!
I want to see a compound lap time in this thing and see where it compares to the others!
I love seeing that you still got hurt in your content because I miss him from the hoonagan channel and it is good to see him from other aspects other than his own new hurt Lyfe channel
Loved watching these race at the speedway in Charlotte
I wonder if Adam is gonna buy a fleet of these and take them drifting with his friends across the country. 🤔
(Edit:further in they plan on it 😂)
Paint the legend like the e36 or the FD s15. Fountains look sick! It’s also cool to see Chelsea at the compound more! Would be dope to see a Denofa x LZ event.
Many of these have shortened Toyota rear ends,a similar set up is “mod lite” in dirt racing and or dwarf car most set ups carry over from each class
its called a dwarf, theyre used as entry level cars in dirt track oval racing usually, along with mini stocks, theyre how you get into sliding in circles for cheap, unless grandma has an old monte carlo or something you can tear apart its a good option.
I need more legends car content. I was looking into getting one but have been having the same issue with not enough information. So it's sick to see what you do.
Get a midget 😈
I have been tinkering with these for nearly 2 years. I have some amateur info and deep dives on my channel @NewYankeeDoesIt
This dude is literally living our dream, but he definitely deserves it and I can’t imagine how much success he is going to achieve in the future
I raced them for years, killer fun. That’s an old 2 bar chassis with a fj engine that is not used anymore. New cars are fx9 water cooled. You will have but that’s why it was cheaper
Where can I learn more about it? What are fj and fx9 engines? Awesome stuff! Never seen that before. Is a US thing or these can be found in Europe as well? Thanks.
I wanna see this thing do a timed lap at the compound! So cool!!!!😊😊😊😊
