- Fall time is here along the Alabama gulf coast! We've had a couple cold fronts push through the last couple of weeks and that means cooler water temperatures. With that being said I had a real good feeling that the speckled trout were going to be fired up in our local marsh/river systems gorging on the thousands of bait that get stacked up this time of the year. This is by far my favorite time of the year to target speckled trout and one of my new favorite lures that’ll I’ll be throwing is the @southernsalt hoodwink !

I like the look. Only 2 issues i thought of in the tour was one the color. Cant black get hot? Do they do other colors that would be cooler when you are barefoot or sitting? The second one was how long itll be before you trip stepping to the helm being slightly uneven from the rest of the boat floor. Not a hard stop clearly. It looks great and I am happy for you. Hmm in watching the video its more grey than the black look i saw at the beginning maybe it was a lighting thing. Still think a teal or aqua could look great too. Keep a tight line! 😂
I’ve made a few trips so far with no issues of tripping yet. It may come lol but it’s so nice on the feet for them long days. And it’s mostly a grey color which I think is pretty neutral so I don’t think it’ll get unbelievably hot. If it does I’ll just wet the deck with a wash down every now and then. I’ll keep the channel updated every couple of months on my thoughts and review of it

Love the channel. Have been thinking about doing the Seadeck...what's it like to clean up after a bloody day of fishing? That's my only hesitation.

The seadek material is not supposed to get super hot to where you can’t walk on it barefoot in the summer, but I haven’t had it long enough to attest to that just yet. I guess we’ll see. Worst case I’ll just spray it down every now and then with the wash down hose

What’s the spec on that rod you’re using? I see it has a nice bend!
It’s a 7’ st.croix medium action, extra fast action rod. I just started using it a few months ago and it’s my favorite so far for throwing artificial!
Where are the big trout , Would you have moved to a deeper area if it wasnt cold.
They are/should be in pretty much all the river systems or atleast very close right now. I’m sure if we would have stayed longer throwing some bigger baits we probably could have picked a few more bigger fish out.

I have a guy that I pay to catch them for me. But usually southern Bama or jimmersons bait will carry them this time of the year
