- A few of my shotguns have started to get attention online, so let's dive into a good chunk of my shotgun collection, talk about how they work, and see some quick range demonstrations.

Doom, Resident Evil, and Terminator 2 made me fall in love with shotguns in videogames. Real life shooting turned me into more of a rifleman but I still have a place in my heart for a good ole 12 gauge.
That hatfield is so ridiculous. I love it. I have one that I chopped to 18.5 and trimmed some wood to get it to fold tighter. I heard it's super fun with caliber adapter tubes!
That sounds exactly like my first Hatfield build, my backpacker model. It’s a great setup for these.
Any thoughts on revolver shotguns? Big fan of revolvers and shotguns so I figured I would try and add one to the collection eventually
They’re hard to find and almost always way too pricey, but I personally don’t see any reason why they’re bad. Modern ammunition solves all the problems posed by revolving longarms as far as i know.

@@WendiGonerLH If you want a range toy, a Judge in .410/.45 is pretty cool. If you actually want to hunt with a revolving shotgun, good luck. There are no revolving 12 gauge shotguns that I know of. You could build your own if you really wanted to.
Adding to my last reply, there are revolving 12 gauge shotguns although they kinda suck. Revolvers are inherently bad at shooting shotgun rounds. Revolving shotguns are mainly made and bought in places where semi/pump shotguns are illegal. Incredibly hard to get your hands on as they're foreign weapons and are therefore banned from import. The design is far from optimal, but it exists (if you can find one).
@@RustyShackleford556 the rossi circuit judge is exactly the same as the 410 shotgun revolvers but with an 18 inch barrel and stock so it's actually practical. Never shot one but they feel nice in the hands

More Hatfield!!! Can't wait to see more the cyberpunk theme vids. I know the Hatfield SGL can be limited but I still enjoy mine, would love to see you do even more crazy fun concepts maybe a Hatfield Sniper, or a Hatfield Gatling Gun, or maybe a Hatfield wrist gun, or something fun.

Looking at the Hatfield got me thinking.... What if you made a holster that looked like a knife sheef?

A sneaky Pete type thing that looks like it's for a blackberry or something. Altho a shoulder holster that the barrel snaps into and has like a piece to hold the grip folded until you grab and pull could be cool too
I have a Charlie Daly 601 Tactical, the same thing as the SDS S4. I had to store it with the bolt locked to the rear. The recoil spring is really stiff. I think it left like that for a week or so. That might help, also keep an eye on the bolt. They have had issues with poor heat treatment, and the bolt peens and gouges up the receiver
You have a very pleasant speaking voice , I have my Great Grandfather's 1887 leaver action shotgun . I'm an Aussie but my Great Grandfather came from Cork Ireland . My original one is extremely reliable and never hangs up a shell

The Winchester 1887, the lever 12bore that you have a cheep copy of, WAS designed by John M Browning .... and you are right they suck for reliability and that is why he moved on to the Pump action with the Winchester 1897.

I think Booligan was trying to say that the reliability problems are why JMB developed a pump action, instead of designing updated versions of the 1887.
Yes but he only designed it like that because he was told it had to be a lever gun similar to Winchester's lever action rifles of the era
I have always loved shotguns. They are just fun all around.
They can be quiet I was into the cyberpunk genre before it was popularized and that gun in my humble opinion IS and fits. A lot of people here didnt grow up with some blade runner, some judge dredd, some Johnny mnemonic, some cheesy full moon sci fi. they just leapt onto this with the release of a video game and got all retentive. A chief element in cyberpunk is homebrew modification its about vaguely familiar technology retrofitted in such a way we the audience can perceive how this fictional gun may have evolved from our current timeline its believable. Much like early in firearms development older designs were well flushed out elegant even but the first automatics were sometimes the opposite somewhat blocky or an "ugly" complex machine beneath cooling jackets and milled steel was a gun of the future a hyper advanced gun in a cyberpunk timeline makes sense to be ultralight space age materials minimalist even. In 80-100yrs the industry could change the public's idea of style could be more utilitarian vastly different from now. We have already seen the advent of 3d printing have major effects in the world of firearms it was among the first applications attempted its not farfetched at all to believe one day especially criminal elements or just the idea of the burner gun could be prevalent. Deckards gun was born of necessity a service pistol capable of bringing down physically superhuman targets in a clean manner it parralells real world development/adoption of things like .357 or 10mm. People remember the lawgiver the most from judge dredd but that universe has a series of very powerful weapons in the hands of others that are not street judges. Even in the film aliens a scattergun is kept handy The shotgun the fusil musket is timeless.

Me and my dad are the same lol. Until recently he had the Mossberg 500 bullpup, and I had a Winchester 1300 Black Shadow Turkey with a 22" barrel. He wouldn't get me the defender (because it would be useless hunting and I was 12. 1998) after a few birthdays and Xmas I built it up piece by piece. I had the Choate Mark 5 and Choate short forend. A Tacstar side saddle. The factory scope mount with a Tasco reddit. Truglo fiber optic sights. An 8+1 mag ext. And a barrel clamp with sling. I bought my dad's 5 round stock shell holder and it's curve fit my stock, so I had 9 in the gun, 6 on the side, and then 5 on the stock lmao. Probably....
11-12 pounds fully loaded, but I had 20 rounds in one package. I recently replaced the stock with an ATI full PG because it was slimmer and looked alot better. After that my dad got a Mossberg 835, and then a 500A1 tactical. After my papaw passed he inherited a super old 870 wingmaster with a 30 in barrel. He got an 18" barrel and a folding/collapsible pg stock for it. We're in West Virginia so everything is basically in slightly range, but Id honestly love to find some type of 20" barrel for my Winchester and I think they only make rifled. I'm super tempted to get a breacher choke just for the hell of it!
I have an old mag fed bolt action 12ga I've been thinking about giving the obrez treatment. Would love to see your take on one.

I love shotguns. I especially love the shockwave and the tac-14’s. I own 2 shockwaves, a couple full size 590’s, including the retrograde which might be my favorite. My heart is with the 870’s though. I own 5 in various configurations including a vindicator, a “retro tactical” with a vintage weaver qwik reflex sight, and of course a police magnum. Shotguns are fantastic, despite MAC’s feelings on them. ;) I also really enjoy a single shot 12gauge.
If you love shotties, an over/under will change your life. My 28inch over/under is shorter than my buddy’s Benelli m4 and half the weight. Get a vented rib and a bead site on it. Mine has become the ONLY gun I bring out EVERY time.
I really enjoy break action shotguns. You typically get about ten inches of extra barrel for free. And getting rid of the weight of a (any) repeating action is simply unmatchable.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention that there are barrel sleeves available out there where you can make your shotgun fire rifle and/or pistol caliber rounds. I ran across a blacksmith’s website about 2 years ago that had a link to a guy who had a small machine shop that produced several different calibers. From 9mm, to 45 Colt to 30/30. If I can find the guys page I’ll post the info back here.
Yep, I have several sub-caliber adapters. I keep them with my Hatfield backpack shotgun which isn’t in this video.
If you still haven't serial numbered your SBS 500 build have you considered electro chemical etching a number inside the bottom loading port? There is plenty of room there (that would be concealed in an 870 by the shell lifter). And if you chemically blackened it after ward it would be vary subtle. (If aluminum would even need blackening, steel some times doesn't.)
On the SDS S4 have you ever tried lapping compound to speed up break in?
The cyberpunk 12 gauge looks gorgeous with the wood IMO
Cool video dude and some interesting equipment and ideas. Have you heard of the double barrel 12 gauge black powder pistols named the Diablo(6/6.5 inch barrel) and the Desperado (8.5 inch barrel)? They look very kickass I have to admit! There are a few videos on YT of people demonstrating various loads and projectiles that you might find interesting. They are made by a company in Arkansas I believe. I may be mistaken since I’m going by memory at the moment, so if I am then I apologize for the mistake.
I remember commenting on your smart gun build and totally didn't realize I wouldn't have been able to keep my heat shield and my Magpul forend without your help haha you're a legend 😂😂😅

Hey could i ask some advice? i have a pw87, but mine fails to pull shells out of the barrel pretty consistently... have you had a similar issue?
The ithaca 37 which is a very different shotgun design has peculiar extractors that on occasion fail to grip modern shell bases they really like high brass many cheap shells today use a zamac material with less pronounced rims the gun the PW87 was modeled after used early paper hull shells with really pronounced bases those shells are very hard to come by nowadays outside of cowboy action sports back to the ithaca 37 a common issue when there is one is slippage of the extractors, rounding of the claws sometimes on a very old gun or one with soft metallurgy. There's a very easy modification among shotgunners called chamber team or polishing what you'll do is use a metal abrasive compound or even whitening toothpaste (it has a mild abbrasive in it and works) you'll use a 12 gauge bore brush it can be done by hand or with a handheld drill setup no need to go hard on it just a reasonable speed and in short increments using the polish you can smooth the area where a shell would be chambered sometimes due to corrosion, carbon buildup, or even micro burrs of maetal from factory will cause a shell to stick just enough to jump springy extractors this reduces such resistance if done properly your left with a chamber the shells just slip from apply a small amount of penetrating lubricant to the chamber. Just take your time and pull up a video to help.
If it makes you feel any better people that compete with 1887 shotguns often speak on how they have more than one due to them needing to be in the shop not a bad gun at all just can be hit or miss the Chinese clones of them I nearly owned one still desire to sometimes I held one and noticed the internals have lots of burrs from manufacture it wouldn't be a bad idea to smooth some of those things out or just cycle it many times until it settles in. The chamber in all likelihood has some material that just slightly impedes extraction Winchester AA shells are smooth with no contours on the hulls ive noticed they run more reliably for plinking in a gun that has this affliction.

The only m4 clone that truly works; and is a direct clone, is the Tac12. My friends and I have shot it a lot and have had no issues.
This one is actually a direct clone of the ARGOS gas system. The execution is just sub-par, haha.
@@booliganshootingsports right on; the tac12 has been in Canada for years and is very vetted. I compared it to a true benelli and it’s really nice. All other clones no matter how close just seem to not work or break.

@@keenumman1 yeah. Really hard to find in working order and the grip is shaped wrong to make it look like a shotgun. But I've debated trying to find one and see if the grip can be rebuilt into what I'm looking for. Also don't they have major safety issues or am I remembering wrong?

I don't recall anything inherently unsafe about them. Rossi also made a singleshot 410/45lc but they only produced it for a few years. Pedersoli has a double barreled one they call the howdah but it's around 800 if I remember correctly.

Braces on most shockwave builds are not legal, per the ATF.
@@booliganshootingsports can you document that? Last I checked, braces were not equated to stocks as per ATF regulations. What would the issue be here? Even with a brace, the shockwave wouldn’t be considered a SBS, as it isn’t designed to be a shoulder fire weapon. Only adding a stock would change the shockwaves classification to a shotgun, and therefore a SBS due to its barrel length.

There are similar documents related to various court cases they provided advice on.
However, their upcoming brace rule change codifies it that no “smoothbore shotgun shell firing firearm” would be permitted to mount a brace at all, period.

I almost bought one last month but the price was just on the wrong side of my comfort level relative to the condition it was in.
Idk what it is with ithacas but they're really uncomfortable to shoot atleast mine is possibly because it's a featherweight model

I wish I could get away with just tossing the new serial number on the barrel, but they require it to be on the receiver. It's still something I'm waffling on doing, we'll see!
@Booligan Shooting Sports Maybe before you pay the ATF designate it an SBS, you could try to swap the guts into a newer receiver then Form 1 it. I bet that bolt is just polished beautifully from years of use.

Personally I'd stay far far away from any Chinese made shotgun.Every one I've ever shot just plain sucked. If you want a good lever action shotgun, spend the extra money and get a Henry.

I'm with you. I would buy one that's newer and has a serial number first but that's more money again
