Im going through as many videos on the music business, especially publishing, as I can. I got more out of these 10 minutes, than dozens of other videos combined. Thankyou for being so down to earth and direct. Great job
Darren Fox thank you!!
Great information on starting your OWN publishing co. I have one through ASCAP and I'm trying to get some of my co-writers/group members to do the same. Great to hear a pro like yourself give this vital advice to songwriters of all levels. Keep this going. 👌🏾
HI how to start a publishing company

Your videos has been inspirational for me and my 15 year old daughter. We almost entered into what seems to be a bad contract, but your videos helped us.

+Tami LaTrell ...Always
I wrote a fire axx country song aa well as other songs. The right country singer would make it a hit on billboard. But i see my finances & business ain't right after watching your video. Glad you're breaking it down sis. People say, oh just sign up for ascap etc. and you'll be fine. Yeah right😕
thank you! this video was super helpful!
Totally, thanks, great job.... ❤️
Hello. Thank you for sharing this info. I have a question of clarification. At 3:00 you said the SONGWRITER get paid the performance royalty and then at 3:18 you said the performance royalty "have to be paid to the PERSON PERFORMING THE SONG." Sometime the songwriter is different from the artist/person who actually performing the song so who get the performance royalty? Both or the songwriter? Then at the end 3:56 you said the performance royalty is owed to the SONGWRITER and/or PRODUCER. Please clarify who get the performance royalty? Thanks for sharing.
Nice. Is there a video that will address how to pitch your songs to music supervisors? What if you are a writer but not a musician?
i would say the best way is tl research and network. did u hit my fb page a few days ago?
+Tami LaTrell No I did not. And thanks for responding.
I just started my own Publishing and so I'm just doing a lil study an ran into yu I am adopting you as my new sis I shall be intouch you . tell them sis make sure they get a letter of intent
Come onT 🙌🏾
#Salute Queen! Very Helpful
Tami, how do I find a good royalty contract for writing a sales letter to sell someone's product. I think it would be a mechanical royalty. Thanks for your videos.
hire an attorney
killah Kev "save me"🔥🔥🔥🔥 on all music platforms next to blow Miami boi next to blow I said it first!!!!!!!💯💯💯💪💪
Hey Tami, thanks again for sharing these informative videos. Very Helpful. Was wondering if the producer is still considered as and deemed the "writer" and or "co-writer" of a song if he/she only credited percentage share as composer of music and not writer of lyrics as written and agreed to in a song split sheet. So for example say i produced the music and an artist i collaborate with wrote the lyrics to the music and I helped write some of it(lyrics) as well, but we agreed in the song the splits to split shares 50/50 with me signing in as 50% music and the artist 50% lyrics. If that song was played on pandora would my name and her name be in the credits down below the lyrics display showing the name of publisher(s) and Songwriter(s)? Hope you understand what I'm asking and may be able to have an answer to clarify. Thanks for your time and all that you do. Peace
yes. creators of music and creators of lyrics are called "songwriters" in music publishing
+Tami LaTrell thank you for clarifying !
Sorry for this question because it has nothing to do with music bit I want to create a game using a software application called Unreal Engine 4
and if I release and publish this game they're asking for 5% royalty
I have no idea what this means, I'm not sure how much exactly they would be entitled to and I'm just going around trying to get as much information as I can
you've got a subscriber in me.
Do you like ASCAP over BMI? I need to pick one. What do you think about Tunecore publishing?
Faith evans with bmi....so
well appreciated
you're welcome! Thanks for your shares in advance!!
Which publisher do you recommend for a songwriter looking for artist placements?
Hello, I understand the U.S. copyright term= the life of the creator + 70 yrs. Most, if not all, intl copyright laws are about the same length of time. Let's say some one had a hit with re-doing.....mmm... 'The 1812 Overture'. How would the new artist claim what royalties, if any? If the new artist uses 12 or so bars of the original melodies, then goes off on their own tangent for 50% of the song length before closing out with the original hook?
Thanks in advance.
Can you create a Publishing entity (DBA) under an existing LLC with a different name? I have an LLC already, but just want to know if I need to create a new one if I chose to incorporate publishing company. Thanks!
Nope you can use the same if u want.
How does publishing work when it comes to soundrecording? I'm asking because unless you're an independent artist soundrecordings are usually owned by the record label
The label owns the sound recording / master rights but not the publishing / composition side thats why labels try to do pub deals with their artists to so they can eat off that side. If you are indie you own both.
@@TamiLaTrell what if I'm not the artist only the songwriter of the song. Who does sync companies go to for permission to use the soundrecording of my song?
@@lornalawson6393 you would have to book a consultation for any more questions. Tamilatrell.com/shop/consultation that way I can help you one on one
I'm working on it you don't have to holler at me 😐 😳 ☑️

💪🏿💪🏿👌🏾
All this sounds well and good. But what entity exist and how is it enforced that if a local bar around the corner or nail salon plays your song that anyone is going to report and pay anything to anybody. Sounds great but highly unlikely. I know for dam sure my barber isnt paying anyone while he is blasting the music in his store. Same thing for night clubs etc..
Corporations, bars and franchises are usually regulated to pay licenses. All others may or may not. I'm only the messenger of what's supposed to be happening. Lol
@@TamiLaTrell I totally hear that. And the "whats supposed to be happening". clears that up haha
Didn't want to get these artist all worked up seeing huge dollar signs because there GF heard there jam at the nail salon on main street.
Rock on.
Tami, I have an original song on CZcams how can I be paid for this performance?
