  • This video shows how I replaced a defective control panel for a Chamberlain garage door opener. I used a LiftMaster branded panel because it was cheaper and it worked fine.
The part number of my garage door opener is HD950WFi
Part number to the replacement panel: 041A7305-1.

Thanks for the video. I was hoping for a deep dive. For my experience, I went to the wire between controller and opener first. Tested to ensure not broken. I did find one connection with a short amount of exposed wire. I stripped a bit more, made the connections again and it worked. This had been working for several years without issue. Not sure if the wire connection was the issue or just a reset helped. Wanted to post before everyone runs out and spends $80 on a replacement. It’s easy enough for most people and paid off for me. Thanks again for the video, you removing the wire is what made me want to confirm mine was good before jumping to buy. I’m not sending a check but appreciate you helping me save the cash.

Thank you so much for this video! You saved me a trip charge from company to come fix. I simply had a loose red wire in the door opener. I wasn't sure how to get it back in place until I saw you use your screw driver to push tab in so I could simply reinstall the red wire. Thanks again!

I am signing in to say thanks to you. It turned out that I don't really have to replace the control; I just removed the panel and poked the wires a little bit and it turned out to be working!

Same thing just happened to me. I thought I was going to have to reset something but I’m guessing it’s done for and need to replace the wall unit. Thanks and great video.

Very helpful thank you my friend. My issue is both my remote controls stopped working only way I can get in is through the app or punch in the code. The panel has power but will not open/close when I hit the button from inside.

Did you ever get it fixed? Same thing is happening to my wall panel. App works, outside code unit works. The wall panel has light and says PRESS PUSH BAR TO ACTIVATE CONTROL. I push, nothing happens. Check the voltage on the wiring, it's good. I even bought a single doorbell type switch, the light in the switch works, pressed, and still nothing. Not sure what to do anymore. Any suggestions?

I had a similar issue, I took the garage door opener off the wall and then put it back on and now it works. Try that

Excellent! And thanks for the links. Mine, only 2 years old, works then it doesn't then it does, then gives me an error message to "see user manual".

Just bought what looks like the same wall unit to replace a previous one that's 10yrs old. Power goes to the wall unit and I can set the clock, but the up down and light buttons only work intermittently. Think I need to rewire? The wire is fished through the walls, not stapled so hope not. Ideas appreciated.

Question: daughter just built a new house, brand, new, LiftMaster, garage door opener, all new equipment the wall mount button all of a sudden quit working.
I looked over everything disconnected the wires at the motor itself, reconnected with new wire caps. The light come on at the button after a few ups and downs with the door I lost power again to the button.
Just for shits and giggles I replaced the wall button with a new one. It worked for a couple hours and then I lost power to the button again any ideas?
I am still getting the one up three down code on the motor itself.

Good video but why would you remove the wiring to the wall panel. Just remove the wall panel and replace it.

so it is literally two wires? did you ever have issues where your control panel stopped working when it was very cold out? mine goes dark, then the clock resets and eventually it works again.. hate to pay my garage door company money to replace something that is less than two years old.

You fixed it by replacing the panel, you didn’t really fix the defective panel. Title should say panel replacement.

you did not "FIX" to opener, it you spent $50 and replaced it with a new one.
