Yeah stuck in an undertow swimming in the swamp being dragged to the bottom all because of a dam flood Ps I really love undertow =) was the first tool album I heard been hooked ever since
About the "Bob" thing, Maynard was friends with Bill Hicks and his comedy routine included a bit about God perhaps having a simple name like Bob. Thus, Bob help me. Also theres another reference about the "stealth banana" where Hicks said why don't we use military technology to launch bananas instead of missiles at hungry people. Stealth banana came from the sky. The entire song is full of movie references and brand names to infer this high school dropout's thinking is the result of a head filled with nothing but movies and other popular culture. I find the song hilarious. Some dude winds up in a hospital explaining to a doctor about how he got abducted by aliens, admitting right at the beggining he took a bunch of psychedelics.
The Rosetta Stone is an ancient tablet that has translations from a few of the ancient languages like Demotic script, ancient Greek script and ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics... Thus teaching modern-day society ancient languages... Rosetta Stoned is about taking DMT and being able to communicate with the "ancient ones" whether its God or Angels or Aliens.... people describe DMT and also very high doses of magic mushrooms (psilocin and DMT are literally the same molecule except for 1 atom that makes psilocin orally active) as death of your ego and identity in the presences of Gods or Aliens or getting a glimpse of the afterlife or peek behind the scenes where they program our simulated lives... So the song is about the use of psychedelics to translate information previously lost... Kinda like the Rosetta Stone...
I just thought of this whilst in the shower: If you look at song order on 10,000 Days, Intension & Right in Two is after Rosetta Stoned. That’s it. That’s the message he was supposed to relay.
“ I hate how good they are” bro, me too. 😂 seeing people’s reactions to tool has got to be my favorite CZcams pastime . Loved listening to this with you. Spiral out!!
Dude was tripping balls. Whether or not there were actually aliens is up to interpretation. "Blotter got right on top of me" basically means that he took too much LSD
The story I’ve heard is that while they were recording the album a friend of theirs cane into the studio tell Tool this story and he was freaking out, coming down from his trip...Tool being Tool wrote a song about it.....👍
In an interview, Danny said the song was inspired by a friend? Bill Manske, who went for a drive to Palm Springs or Desert (not sure) and he apparently had an alien encounter. He went to Tool - tried to tell his story. He was really shaken. Maynard was inspired to write. Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned was born.
With the help of a “heroic” dose of LSD combined with a DMT blast off, I could see how the scenario described in the song could occur. This song captures the sheer beauty and butterflies in the stomach feel psychedelics can illicit.
I had my subtitles on when listening to this song and they were all over the place. Its a fun way to listen to this song. The lyrical version with you tube subtitles. lol so fun
This is why you gots to listen to Lipan Conjuring. It’s where this tripping spiritual balls journey begins. But man, you my man got much more in the first listen than I did in my first 40. It gets more awesome as you piece it together. Love reliving this journey!
Don’t let them get to you. I’m sure you give them a good thorough listen off screen, and multiple times. Tools music is meant to be listened to multiple times. Constantly revealing new sounds and subtle you missed the first few times. Keep it up. Great reaction. I’m gonna subscribe. Stay safe and healthy and share music. It is something that links people across borders, languages and culture.
I appreciated that you said, "this is a good movie.", never really thought of it on those lines but it obviously follows a parallel dynamic. Only difference being your imagination making the visual vs someone else's imagination doing it for you. One last note, this very well could be Danny's best performance and that says a lot with his drumming catalog.
You get points for hitting one of the most complex Tool songs. I have been in the tool army since 92 and it took me a while to comprehend the greatness of these songs.subbed. You do great work. PS - you forgot the pen...you had one job hommie. LMFAO. That’s gold.
The first words of ths song are: "Alright then, picture this if you will: 10 to 2 am, X, Yogi DMT And a box of Krispy Kremes In my "need to know" pose, just outside of Area 51"
I loved your reaction, man! This is one of my favoriteTool songs, and you're right - no other band sounds like Tool. Rosetta Stoned is really about his LSD trip where he may have or may not have seen and encountered aliens.
The next 2 songs on this album tell the rest of the story. Intentions and Right in 2 is the rest of the story. Intentions is what the ET was telling him. Right in 2 is what humanity has done without that information because “He forgot his pen”
DMT is a hallucination. This is a story about Maynard taking it and having an alien interaction. He's questioning whether it's the drug or if it's real
Idk if someone replied to your question in the beginning of the video about that sound. It was Adam's amazing Gibson guitar that seems to be able to hold a note for.fucking.ever. Sorry for language XD
Great content! Been waiting for these TOOL sections bro! But yeah, you should check out the “Bob Lazar” interview with Joe Rogan! It’s a trip and this a blended story/experience of a friend of theirs and Bob Lazar. To think that this was way before social media is ridiculous! Not to mention all that’s transpired since that interview! We’re not alone, only a few more months until the White House has to disclose ALL information about extraterrestrial 👽 life. To each their own, spiral out!
It tells you in the song... They gave him the details of the end of the world to tell everyone. To warn them. But, alas, he forgot his pen. We will never know the details. You won’t find those details in THIS album... There IS a message at the end of Lateralus that lines up directly to this. It is a sort of secret track at the end of Lateralus.
Then 13 years later he makes an Album tited Fear Inoculum right before a worldwide pandemic and the album is about learning about how you are not invincible and the Descending of our world. It ends with a storm like no other that lasts for a long time.
I "lemon tekked" just 2 grams of Penis Envy Cubensis (most unfortunate name for one of the most potent mushroom strains), I had incredibly vivid deja vu and I had convinced myself that I was witnessing the inner workings of the machine of life, and and then I saw the actual word "WAIT!" Like tires squealing dead stop WAIT... and immediately started thinking does the world actually exist beyond our interactions with? Like am I conjuring up own reality instantly the moment I interact with it? Like if I'm not thinking about something or someone at that moment does it actually exist?
Its almost like the story of Jesus. Or maybe the Moses eating a bad fruit on his 40 day journey in on a mountain with a burning bush. One person urged by a higher power to tell everyone how to survive the end. Its a fun song. When I was a teenager, I picked up a friend who was on LSD. We went out to the lake to meet other friends. He kept yelling "Pull Over!!! STOP! Pull Over!" I thought he was gonna puke in my car so I pulled over and kicked him out the car about 50 feet before the car came to a stop. He told me that he cant drive anymore and wanted to know if I could drive him to the lake. Im the one driving...lol So later he told me a story about a goose that was floating in the lake and took off without a sound. It was some crazy talk. Oh and when I pulled over to "change drivers" he saw a branch hanging from a tree. The leaves were red and falling off. He thought it was a person with a dog and freaked out. It was irritating at the time but have only to learn and to laugh about it now. Fun song.
This is the deep end of the TOOL Pool, lol.. once you dive in.. you gotta swim to get back out, lol.
The truth is... you never get out. EVER.
Still swimming 🏊♂️
I've a suggestion to keep you all occupied... learn to swim
I’ll see you down in Arizona bay 🤙
Yeah stuck in an undertow swimming in the swamp being dragged to the bottom all because of a dam flood
Ps I really love undertow =) was the first tool album I heard been hooked ever since
"you forgot your pen???? you had one job homie!" Most underrated line of the video!
This is based on a story Maynard and Danny heard from a mutual friend, I believe.
I love watching people find out about tool. I’ve been hooked since the first time I heard them 20 years ago
About the "Bob" thing, Maynard was friends with Bill Hicks and his comedy routine included a bit about God perhaps having a simple name like Bob. Thus, Bob help me. “You forgot your pen? You had one job, homie.” 😂
if ever there was a song to break down in real time during a reaction.... this is that song.
It’s a beast of a song that very few could pull off, if any........except for Tool....

Dudes Lead singer from green jello with ~ over the e from what I found, which apparently Maynard was apart of which I didn’t know until recently.
The siren noise is a Justin Chancellor their bassist playing with feedback on his guitar.

Legend tells that this song describes a DMT trip that Maynard had.
The first words of ths song are:
"Alright then, picture this if you will:
10 to 2 am, X, Yogi DMT
And a box of Krispy Kremes
In my "need to know" pose, just outside of Area 51"
Not Maynard.
Tool is on another level💚👽
iirc the lyrics are based on a dmt trip a friend of theirs had or something
Love your reactions! You're one of my favorites. Enjoy your passion and humor.
This reaction gave me chills
👽🔥👽
Man your reaction fun as shit bro, keep it up!
great review of a great track by a great band
I think his friend was doing DMT and had a bad trip and this song is it.
17:22 you got it....lol just watching your face as you realise what’s happening......
Greatest band ever never to late to find tool
I loved your reaction, man! This is one of my favoriteTool songs, and you're right - no other band sounds like Tool. Rosetta Stoned is really about his LSD trip where he may have or may not have seen and encountered aliens.
You have to react to The Pot, 46&2, Lateralus, Tempest & Pneuma. Welcome to the Rabbit Hole!
Definitely hear the Rush influence.
They have way more influences than that, but yes, one of many. Check out some of their personal playlists.
Perfect!!!
Bob help me, refers to bob lazar he worked at Area 51
He's tripping. Thus the reference to blame Hoffman. Hoffman created LSD.
It's an ebow on his guitar neck. Basically a handheld device that vibrates the strings
masterpiece
The instrument you’re hearing at the start is the guitar’s feedback 🤘🏽
The song before these is about taking ayahuasca/dmt. So he trips, get in the hospital and tells his story.
That’s Adam’s Guitar feedback
Tripping balls on DMT the day you get abducted by aliens and they teach you how to save the human race
But you forgot your pen
Yeah, man. Made it to the end of the video Great speculation too. What other band makes you react like this?🤯
Your friend prepared you well
