Scotty Kilmer Great video Scotty!👍🏼📸
Thanks Scotty! I am enjoying learning about cars from you. You are a household name between my husband and I 😀. I always say, "Well, Scotty says..."
Just so you know a lot of the car wash that have wripe them off, HAVE 1000s of towels, and they use them on one or two cars, and then put in a pile and there washed,
Self driving cars, means you can be tracked every second. They actually had a self driving semi deliver a trailer of beer.

Hi again
Scotty maybe you can make a lexus nx300h (hybrid around 2016) review, videoreview?
Kindly
Peter
My current car is black, got one heck of a deal on it, but I’ll Never buy another black car.
I feel u bro
Had a blue and two reds in over 30 years, now dark grey.....super hot, and one little drizzle after a wash, looks like crap from dirt spots. Who knew rain had so much dust/dirt in it?! Shine and wipe to the rescue.
Black cars are stunning when clean. It is lots of work to keep them looking beautiful.
black collects dust like no other
Once you've had black, you'll never go back... ;-)
So they say. Lol. 🇬🇧
Just checking in to see how I’m living my car life all wrong.
touché
Taking you car to the carwash will kill you
I'm still waiting for Scotty to make a video entitled " Why your getting in your car the wrong way".
How to fill you car up with gas the correct way 😂
@@filip2529 all joking aside....i think he really did one like that.
“Why you’re driving to your moms house the wrong way”
Sixty Gs Babay Getting into your car to drive it is wrong! Lol
@@filip2529 He did say when filling the tank dont keep clicking gas in to fully fill it.
About the Sentra cranking too long. I had the same car , an 06 and same problem. It was not the injectors ,it was a fuel delivery problem between the injectors and the fuel pump. I got rid of the car quite sometime ago so I forgot what the part was called , but it was only a few dollars. Nissan admitted the problembut never issued a recall. You don't need to crank it for 20 seconds , your starter will go soon. Just crank itup for 3-4 seconds , wait about 5 seconds , and the second time it should start right away. Mine did. I hope this helps.
Actually, you dont need to do the first crank, you just put it in contact, wait for the fuel pump to stop and then reset the key an start it.
My 05 had the same problem. It turns out it was the fuel pump not being able to hold pressure in the line so i replcace the fuel pump and problem solved.
I think I have the same problem in my 06 Ford explorer
Breathing? You’re doing it wrong!
Mabye a vid called....why your sitting the wrong way in your car.
.
2laughandlaugh 😂😂. The truth is there’s a right way to sit in car seat so I won’t be surprised if Scotty makes a video of that 😂😂
Pooping? You are doing it wrong! 😂
....and Scotty tells us to rev up our engines....thats bad for your engine....but we’ve been doing it all wrong
I'm still trying to figure out which is the best way to pick my nose!
Oml I’m laughing so hard! The notification for this came up right after I finished washing my car😂
YOU DID IT WRONG THEN!
How did you wash
Get back out there!
You're doing it wrong!
Same here
Thanks for sharing this out. This was very informative. I enjoy your videos.
i just cant get enough of this channel... this is awesome
Thank you Scotty! I'm laid up with knee replacement surgery and love the daily posts.
I used a place in California called Module Repair Pro to refurbish my 2010 Ford F150 ABS module getting intermittent pump motor signal failure and Lost Communication failure codes. $160 bucks shipped and problems solved so far, been 6 months. Good videos Scotty, thanks for your honesty as always.
Your videos are excellent: fun to watch, informative, authoritative. You don't need the eye-catching dishonesty of having the thumbnail contradict the content

Automatic car washes use high ph soaps that strip the waxes. They also scratch a ton. If you’re not a car guy or detailer, then it’s no biggie. But if you are, the two-bucket method works pretty good with your favorite soap. Foam cannons are optional but give better results. I usually do one panel at a time, rinse the mitt a couple times, then re-dunk and go to the next panel. Using a drying aid like Ammo Hydrate, Spray Wax, Quick Detailer helps reduce water spots. But my favorite car wash is the Meguiar’s Gold Class, paired with P$S beadmaker. Great stuff on a budget and my customers seem to like it too !
Thx for the insight. You covered a good variety issues.
Hi Scotty, I am from the Netherlans (Holland) and enjoying youre channel very much. Super mechanic and great tips!!
Your so smart man if it wasn’t for your videos I’d be lost you constantly have me upgrading my grand marquis and doing mods to make it like a new vehicle
Great videos Scotty!
Love your video scotty!!
Some self serve car washes have soap brushes that create micro scratches and swirls on your car. Bring your own sponge.
I had a customer with an abs light problem. It would come on several times a month and we never could find a fault. It went that way for close to a couple of years and then we got a brake fluid flushing machine. We flushed the brake fluid system along with an ABS bleed and he never had another problem.
And because he volunteered his car to be used for technician training, he didn't have to pay.
Wix, Napa, CarQuest or Purolator oil filters are all good. I personally run Wix filters. Mainly because I can pick them up at my local O'Reilly Auto parts if needed.
I use a top wash mit and a bottom wash mitt . One for the top half and one for the bottom half of the car . I find that way it keeps the superficial scratches on the bottom half of the car where they are harder to see .
No lie, I got the notification to this video as soon as I put the coins in the machine and I just gave a "😑" reaction
omg haha
I know the car wash i worked at in high school. We only used the towels once. Of course we had alot of towels and heavy duty washer
Thank you Scotty
I really love it when you take your car to a carwash and they drop the microfiber towel one the floor and then they pick it up and continue to use it.🤦♂️
Doesn't really matter man because of the towels have armoral on them.
Jon Sanders the place I go to would never do that! They do immaculate work, have 3 facilities in my town, always busy, up to date machinery!
My dad washed his gold Buick Riviera every week at a car wash in L.A. his whole life. The car was always clean and no streaks. I used to look for any imperfections but it always looked good. I don't wash my car once a week and it always looks dirty. Good vid.
Scotty, you're the best!
MAN sometimes I go down the Scotty Kilmer video rabbit hole and begin to ask myself damn what DO I know??
Revvvvv Up your..... Nope, you're doing that wrong too!!! 😂
😂😂
Hahahahaha
Rev up your.. Dont...
Fire_Element Depends, do you hold the starter too long? 👀
Dez Nutz I wrench a lot and the things Scotty say are all true and I know people that have gone on expensive mistakes they had not done if they had known all that Scotty shares, so I'd not say Scotty is putting out any untruths
I’d like to see a video on pressure cleaning fuel injectors, even if I can’t afford the equipment and have to go in to have it serviced.
Buy like 5 or 6 mitts and only use each mitt once. That way you're not introducing any dirty water to the soapy water.
Washing the car regularly like every week or 2 helps as well since you won't have to rub hard to remove any dirt. You want to remove the dirt with as little pressure as possible. Washing your car properly is the best way to avoid swirls and scratches.
Wifes ABS Module went out on her 08 Camry the shop quoted me a crazy price like $3000 or something stupid. Just ordered a used from from a lower mileage Camry for like $200 0r so and had a shop install for less than $100. You gotta think sometimes outside the box when your dealing with older cars. Its been 6-7 years and still have the Camry.
So funny! This vid just popped up as I was hosing Kathy down! Your good friend Vinny in good old Fla.
That Sentra long crank time is a known issue, is generally not the injectors but a weak fuel pump that allows pressure to bleed off, so the opposite of flooding.
Hey Scotty great videos but do you have any advice or recommendations on drive up ramps
Buy Toyota ones LOL
Scotty, Always telling it like it is. Fram Tough Guard and Ultra Synthetic are quality oil filters have used them for years.
Agreed. A better filter (Usually made by the same company) is money well spent.
As an auto body man for 40 years you're absolutely right Scotty
"The sun"...best tabloid in the world...you learn most on page 3 !!!.
I totally agree about the car wash. I have a 10 year old car and I've never washed it was any rag or brush... just brushless automatic car washes. The car lives outside 365 days per year and the paint still looks great.
I’ve always wondered if I washed my car wrong. Scotty has an answer for everything car related!
The issue is the soap not the brushes trust me I work at a car wash for 3 yrs now. The brushes and soap make marks from the car. Also he is not telling that just driving your car when it's windy rainy. Hot outside car scratch your car . Use a wax and soap to wash it if not just use a spray wax before and after you wash the car.
I prefer WIX oil filters. Nascar uses them and I work at a hydraulic hose factory and we have a military department and they are always ordering the wix brand filter for their vehicles
According to my knowledge, Mobil 1 filters are made by Champion. Best oil filters are made by WIX. It might be not the cheapest but WIX do provide filters for most dealer brands filters.
I was a computer programmer for 30 years. I would never trust my life to a programmer. 👎
NAVRET Cool, let me know whenever you have a life decision to make and I'll let you know what to do next, since you can't trust yourself.
@@hunterhenryk best
NAVRET i wonder if you would turn down all that computer controlled hospital equipment... seems a bit silly to me
It's like trusting Windows operating system to guide thousands of cars through traffic. I don't trust it.
OMG everytime I watch Scotty I smile.. “That laugh!” = Priceless! 😁
Could you please make a video on how to properly wash your car, prewash sprays, shampooing, waxing,... ?
Scotty kilmer for life. 💯
The car wash broke at our city yard and want us to pressure wash the vehicles. We get so close the clear coat and paint peel off and we clean the intercoolers really good.
My Toyota Sienna took long cranks to start. So I took it back to the mechanic that changed the fuel pump. He found my PVC valve cracked, so I changed it. But it took 1-2 days for it too cure the starting, but that was it now it starts right up. That was it.
Eh... self-driving cars have been on the road for quite some time. With very minimal incidents. The only real problem I've seen with the autopilot system in Tesla cars, is the inability for them to see around sweeping corners with barricaded shoulders on high-speed roadways. honestly it's pretty amazing what Tesla has been able to do with their software, it's also pretty amazing that they've been able to update older vehicles' software to enable them to have autopilot. I can't imagine what these cars will look like in 25 years...
I spray off the brush that's in the self wash booth. I don't know if that helps enough but I only use if for more beat cars that I own.
Just a heads up Scotty, i don't know if it is the case in all car washes, but when i used to work at a car wash we used fresh towels for every car. no re-using old ones .
I can attest to the Car Washes. I worked at a Dealership as a Service Tech/Car Washer and no matter what I did to keep everything cleaned off after using it people would always go thru, use the supplies for the Wash area and never clean anything off. It was the most iritating thing. It's part of the reason why I replaced Brushes and cloths so often is because people don't care.
So true working at a dealer ship being a car porter.
Scotty’s next video will be “your using your cup holders wrong”
Nice video
An ABS tip for winter driving, you’ll stop faster on icy streets if you feather the brake to the threshold that ABS activates than if you slam on the brakes and use ABS entirely.
I always use the 2 bucket method when washing my car. 1 bucket for the soap, & 1 bucket for me to sit & watch my wife wash my car 🤣👍🏻
Jonny DIY .....you wish
Yeah I never use the brush every time I went there I seen dirt on them.
if you want to use the brush wand at the car wash, just spray it down with high pressure soap first. that should remove any dirt from the bristles.
Hey Scotty I love your videos. I was wondering if you know a solution to fixing the o/d off light flashing on a 2003 Ford Explorer v6. The over drive light flashes every so often and was wondering if you would know how to fix the problem.
I use a sponge mitt with no soap. Works every time.
Car wash in my town Canada Quebec Gatineau. They have rubber now instead of brushes. Wanted to shy it but not sure yet lol
I used a my own sponge and rinsed the truck good, before washing at car wash, and used good automotive soap and still scratched it. In one spot.
The Guru of Car Wash
There's a video on here where a guy cuts several open. The Fram, the black topped one, was the worst. You have to watch it. He found that the Napa gold was the best. I'm sure if you just search oil filter cut open or something like that.
Scotty was the inspiration for the Rambo franchise!!!
Agree with the car wash with brushes. All the rental cars use that method and over time you can see the brush marks on the paint surface. It can be polished out but hey it is a rental car.
I will never go to another drive in car wash 🧽! The one down the street from my house took a huge chunk off the paint of the top of my truck! From now on I’ll hand was and hand dry my self!
I believe that self driving cars will be able to drive with everyone else with the right sensor equipment and well made program, it just takes the right person for the job to do it.
Have u seen the way people drive idk about all that
The Sentra might have a stretched timing chain. If the chain continues to stretch then the engine will turn into a crank no start if the chain doesn't get replaced.
Scotty is absolutely correct about car washes.
Yes and no something he says correct some in correct from my own experience working at a car wash
Hey Scotty about the Solara they mentioned replacing the sensor what if the sensor was good and it was the Tone ring? Or possible Air gap issue from rust?
Hey Scotty, ive got a 2006 honda accord with manual transmission, while driving the shifter often pops out of 3rd gear, what could it be
Hi Scotty,
And how about washing the engine bay with a hose/pressure washer? I have been hearing mixed opinions (e.g. cover the alternator, do not spray too much water...etc). What is your say on this?
Scotty what do you think about the 02' Lexus es300 115kmiles, found one and owner is trying to get 4k is it a deal?
Scotty I bought a new 2019 Highlander and drive about 9000kms a year. Thinking about going with amsoil oil and filter once a year. What do you think?
Wix makes the best filters.Fact!
For oil filters, go with K&N, Royal Purple, or Mann. I wouldn't touch anything else.
Self Driving cars are the future. The sooner the better. The cars would be a blessing for the elderly or the blind, they would be able to do simple tasks everyone takes for granted. Like shopping, doctors visits, going to church, visiting there children. You would be able to travel long range trips, set it and take a nap or watch a movie. Later the cars would be able to communicate with each other for added safety. I just watched on the news here in Texas HEB is soon to use a self driving car to drop off groceries.
Hey Scotty,
Have you used fuel injector cleaner available online and if they give better result. Please share your thoughts on them.
What about if you use a brush at home and you know the brushes clean do you have anything against brushes in general?
Scotty, here's an observation:
We do 250 oil changes each week. I have observed that maybe 50 of these cars have cracked windshields NOT originating from stone chips. Just cracks from the edges. About half these cars are Chrysler products. 200, 300, Chargers, Challengers, mini vans.... any ideas why?
Scotty, I have a 2015 ecoboost mustang with 54k miles on it, I bought it brand new. What are the general maintenance procedures that are recommended to do on a car like that? This is the first new car I got. I change oil every 5k miles, got injection cleaning at 40k, flushed out the break hoses at 50k because these were what the ford service recommended. They recommend coolant change at 60k miles. I want my car to last as long as possible, what is your advice? Thank you. Gabor
i did very light research on oil filters and it's strange that the filters don't give an address or location on where they are made. one could presume the quality if some of them are made in the same area or place
Easiest test on the Nissan's "long crank" issue is to unplug the fuel pump relay with the engine running, let it die, then plug the relay back in and leave it like you normally would until you come back to it. If it starts normally, Scotty is 100% right. If it still doesn't start easily, you'll have to look elsewhere.
Hey I'm in the Houston area and was wondering how could I go by scheduling a appointment for you to check out a potential missfire that I'm having on my 2004 monte carlo with a SC 3800 engine and also and ABS/TRAC issue?
silver cars never need washing I bet Scotty has never washed his Celica
Your right!..but i also noticed sum black swirl marks on the door from the car wash, guess i gotta wax it now..
Silver is most popular color last time I checked, easiest to sell. looks good in between long washes, especially if you use a good polish spray. I'm using "Torque Detail" lately. Looks really good even after a rain in the dirty city. Nothing sticks to it.
I got an 03 g35 that's silver, I wash it often because it looks amazing clean but it does take a while for it to get noticeably dirty 💯👍
True. You only have to wipe off the dust from the windshield and windows every few days and you are good to go.
Most def true, Ive got silver car, it still don't look dirty month after being washed, apart from the windshield. Unlike my black celica.
Hey Scotty,
What do you think about the 3-Liter diesels in the the 150/1500 trucks from the big 3?
Hey Scotty what do you think about gumout does it really help your car last longer?
Hey Scotty, I took your advice and purchased a set of Akebono disc brakes for my 1999 Toyota Rav4, front. What is a good brand rotors with which to match these brake pads. I can't seem to find any Akebono rotors.
Thanks in advance.
5:30 Totally agree. Self driving cars are bad. You will lose your right to drive, everything will be done for you, you will just be a passenger, the Government will set the parameters of what you can and can't do and make you think it was your idea, when they've been dreaming of taking that right away for 15yrs now.
Self driving cars are a consumer choice, people wanted them, so they got made. Same way with regular cars and regular driving lanes.Government regulated yes, but not government mandated. If someone wants to drive the car, or be driven by the car, they now have more options.
Don't count on old Scotty to oppose automated cars.
Adam Nope
Wow, The dumbing down of America has really worked! On a NPR show, they estimated self driving cars would reduce fatalities by 10,000 a year. Their biggest benifit. When the opiate crisis in this country kills over 60,000 a year. I just wish you people chose your battles to fight more wisely.
I would rather risk dying in a car crash than be stuffed in an automated robot driven car. It would be even saaaaaaaaaaaafer if people walked. That way you save 38,000 lives a year.
What about the totally touchless automatic car washes?? I habe a 3 year old nissan rogue and i only go to the touchless place. They use just spray jets and the air blowers after to dry
Scotty, i have a 94 dodge stealth rt non turbo "3000gt" my automatic trans went out 5 years ago and i just recently converted it to a 5 speed. Ive cleaned my fuel system ajd bench cleaned the injectors and replaced the fuel filter and spark plugs as well as coils. The car falls on its face when any more than 1/4 throttle is pushed. Ive tried a different tps and checked for vaccume lines. Any advise??? No check engine lights
Hey scotty what would you recommend I do to prevent vaporlock for the future? I have a 1976 Chevy c10 with a 350 motor. Should I put electric fans on it or reroute my fuel line?
Scotty we have toyota camry 2004 when first start it smokes like hell. Mechanic said coils are bad change the whole thing 2x still same spark plug been chance also just this one cylinder not burning right.
I drive a Miata...and I also own a Tesla Model 3. I think you're right about full self-driving. The car is amazing, but it's the humans that I worry about. lol
LOL. I had to laugh at the at the receipt for buying a wife for $3.99. Not only that, you can return her within 90 days of purchase! Simply outstanding, thank you Scotty.
NAPA housebrand is very high quality multistage filters, made by WIX
Tip..... wash the brush with the wand before using it!
