As a youngster you would have been protected from that kind of information I'm sure. She seems to have been well liked by those who knew her.

Thank you, S's H! During Spring 1971, I visited a friend at 17A Danube Street, Edinburgh, a few times. 'Ian' and his wife resided in the converted attic, with sole entry being up a pair of ladders ... Their living accommodation was quite plush. I/we knew of Dora and her exploits, as did most of our friends (mostly in the early 20s of their lives). The 'house of leisure and pleasure' was never a problem.
    Just another anecdote, S's H.
All the best. Stay free. Rab 🍻 😎 🎲 🌠

Fascinating! I can imagine why the neighbours might have been upset though.

My sister stays in Edinburgh. About twenty years ago, on a visit I mentioned that I had been to a salon in Alloa and gave it's name. My sister burst out laughing. The salon had the same name as the, ahem, 'licensed massage parlour' around the corner from her flat. It seems very little changes...😅. Dora sounds like a bit of a Cynthia Payne type.

As a wee boy my father took me out to the USS John F. Kennedy on its open day when it was In the Forth. I always wondered why the sailors had smiles from ear to ear, now I know 🤣

@@scotlandshistory, Oh it was. If my memory is correct it wasn't a real sunny day and the water was just a wee bit choppy.
