  • With a brass plaque at its entrance forbidding mobile phones, backpackers, cameras and credit cards, the Canny Man's in Morningside sets exceptionally strict rules before you've even had the dubious pleasure of stepping inside.

I got a Christmas card in the nineties from Kerr in which the usual but swift season greetings were followed up with a notification on how the christmas period was going to be dealt with.. there would be a reduced service because staff had to have time off (presumably to go christmas shopping and to gfb celebrate the season of good will to man) there would also be a charge of 25% extra on your bill because while we were all partying they would be working and an instruction to not dont bother turning up after youv'e been to a christmas party because you wont get in and oh by the way merry christmas

The Canny Manns has always held a position of the most notorious pubs in Edinburgh. In my time it has been a go-go bar where the trade were attrced in by girls taking of their clothes to music in the elevated position n the right bhand side of the bar.
