      On the one hand, I DO agree that Lincoln brought everything that happened to himself through his decisions. But on the OTHER, his whole family practically forced him to attend everything they do. There IS such a thing called "overextending yourself" and when that happens, it leaves some serious repercussions.
      Plus, Lynn DID threaten him with a bat into going to her game. Sure, she may not have intended to use it on HIM but even smashing some things he likes with it crosses several lines. But the real icing on the garbage cake that is this episode has to be Lynn's dumb belief in luck.
      Anyone who believe luck is the only way to achieve success needs their head examined

      Did you know there was another banned Tom and Jerry cartoon next to Blue cat blues, will this tom and Jerry episode never aired has no DVD release no full video on CZcams or aired on any streaming services, the episode I'm talking about is The lonesome mouse released in 1943, in it Tom's owner kicks Tom out of the house and Jerry now has the house to himself and gets lonely and bored because there's no cat to chase him anymore and the rest, the full episode is on dailymoiton so do what you can to review it ❤

    Well... Lincoln shouldn't have lied. Not saying that he deserves all that mistreatment, obviously.

    • @gleamingroses2952

      I really hate that the defense for this episode has always been "Lincoln shouldn't have lied" or when it comes to other shows "X character is deserving for X reason" just because Lincoln lied doesn't mean he deserved the extent of his punishment in this episode, nor does it excuse how his family basically abused him and outcasted him over petty superstition. Especially when the episode clearly gives us a reason WHY Lincoln decided to lie in the first place. We are shown that Lincoln always has to fullfill some sort of commitment to his family's events at the expense of his own personal interests or self-care. It's even implied that the family doesn't give the same thought or commitment to Lincoln's own personal activities as evidenced when Lincoln tells Lynn about his Ace Savy comic, and she called it lame. Lincoln is NOT unreasonable for his actions in this episode, he was forced against his consent to watch Lynn's game, despite expressing his issues with how his commitment to his sisters overtake his own interests. I REALLY hate that the episode makes Lincoln the bad guy when he says that speech to his family that he's selfish for wanting time to himself, when no he's not. There's absolutely NOTHING WRONG with wanting time to do things you enjoy big or small. And the episode essentially says if you don't support each and every bit of thing your family does, you're a selfish person. Which makes it feel like gaslighting. When the family is NEVER shown to give Lincoln that same respect to things he likes, he just has to shove it aside for his family.
      What is exactly is so wrong with Lincoln just wanting some time to do what he wants to do? He even tries to bring this up to Lynn who decides to give him an ultimatum by threatening him with a baseball bat. Only for her to blame her loss on Lincoln and used his appearance to fuel her superstition and claim he's bad luck. Is it a bit much for Lincoln to feed this lie? Of course, but it doesn't justify or make the family better in any way, especially when partway through Lincoln realizes how it was a mistake and even tells his family he fed the lie just to have time for himself, only for Lynn to continue to fuel her superstition on him being bad luck because she is a sore loser. (and an unlikable shrew) when the parents even get involved with it, that just makes the family's side less credible.
      It would've been much better had the parents maybe decided to trick Lincoln, and come to apologize after they heard why he did it, but in episodes where all the sisters team up against Lincoln (which were always the worst ones of the show as they just devolved into a single unit and became the same amount of unlikable) the parents sometimes do it too, (I think Rita in particular is at her worst with this in The Taunting Hour, where she is just as immature in blaming Lincoln as the sisters of that episode) it's a much different angle when the parents are involved compared to sibling vs sibling. They too just become one of the sisters and resort to child abuse by locking him out of his own house and forcing him to sleep outside, all for the sake of telling one joke! This episode sucks and still sucks and made Lynn the worst character on the show.

      @@gleamingroses2952 I'm not reading all that. I have already agreed that Lincoln shouldn't have been mistreated like that in the episode, but I also think he shouldn't have lied. He should have just said that he wanted some alone time.

    • @gleamingroses2952
      @gleamingroses2952 Před 24 dny +1

      @@robbyroba Except he tried to do that with Lynn, only to be threatened with physical violence if he didn't. Just because he lied doesn't justify the family's actions. Especially when he did confess to the family that he fed the lie to get out of obligations, only for the family to still go with Lynn's superstition, which is basically proof that even if Lincoln didn't feed the lie the family would've sided against him anyway because prior to Lincoln using that as a shield, Lynn was ready to just tell all the sisters to stay away from him when Leni asks Lincoln to go to her fashion related thing, only then THAT's when he decided to do it.
      Lori was even about to not cater into Lincoln being bad luck and he would've had to go and support Lori regardless of reasoning had he not broke her clubs to convince her otherwise. There's even a later episode that shows the family tells white lies all the time to get out of things, so the family can lie, but Lincoln can't?
      Also, if the comment is too long, why bother responding to it or forming a defense? I'm just saying, you could just ignore it if it's too long.
