According to my experience I always carry one more small bag to put used clothes in a separate bag if I have not got it in laundry. Because used clothes can create smell in fresh clothes even if they are in poly bags.
Backpack with airflow back board with steel frame and mesh helps us to carry heavy pack easily for a long time, one such backpack is tufaol tragoose 70 L, this backpack can be carried for any distance without any difficulty, it is very light weight due to nylon material.
How about the hair and other accessories ? For example comb, bands..cameras ?? Etc etc.. Do we need to carry separate bags for them? Btw quite useful video
It is a good idea to pack things i small bags instead of haven all the things loose i the backpack. That makes it easier to find the things and you don´t need to unpack everything.
Good to hear that you loved Triund Trek, now you can start trekking on more beautiful trails, a bit more challenging and more rewarding. Like Nag Tibba in Uttrakhand, or Beas Kund from Solang Valle, Manali.
Good video. Did you missed a raincoat and backpack waterproof cover. From now on I will keep all my clothes in separate plastic bags because last time rain water got inside my backpack and all my unused dress got drenched even though I used a backpack raincover. It was the first day of my monsoon trek. I had to sleep at night in tent wearing only shorts in my sleeping bag, both was partially wet. So guys if you could get plastic bags for your each and every dress you don't have to worry about the rain or accidentally falling in some water stream.
HI Swathi could u please make video on how tp choose a ruck sack ........ and the best option available .............and the difference between back pack and a ruck sack
Useful for trekkers who can understand english language...for those who don't understand english language this all videos are useless... I request Swathi to make videos using Hindi language so all Indian can understand.
hey swathi, love your videos, they are very useful :) what should be the weight of your backpack when you are trekking with indiahikes or other companies where you dont have to carry your tent and sleeping bag?
Hi Neha, thanks for watching the videos! :) The last time I trekked for 8 days, my backpack weight around 7kg with all my warm layers in it. If you can keep it around that, you'll thank yourself on the trek! :) Here's an article that might help you with what NOT to pack - indiahikes.in/not-take-trek/
I wasn't even looking for this video ! It just popped up on my recommended list . The only reason I started watching this one in particular amongst all other similar videos is because I could see a F.R.I.E.N.D.S poster in the video's thumbnail (hahahahahaha) . Be that as it may , I'm really glad that I watched it coz I have always been looking for a good enough trekker's community to join and I just loved yours . I checked out your website and I just wanna say that I'm pretty certain I'll be taking up all my future treks with you guys . Thanks a lot ! PEACE OUT
How nice to hear this Aaditya! This is one of our very initial videos from many years ago! Glad you chanced upon it -- sounds completely serendipitous! :) Hope you browse through our more recent content and join us on this outdoor journey in some way or the other!
@@Indiahikes Believe me when I say this , I just spent an hour surfing through your website and now I'm planning to take the " Deoarital-Chandrashila" trek !!! I'm so glad I came across this video . I sincerely thank you guys for coming up with such a thing . I mean there are other communities as well but I've always found them to be poorly organized . So far , your website looks very promising and I just love how comprehensive your site is . Great Job at that too !!!
hii swathi im very much impressed by the way u are making the videos im going to hampta pass this august so which backpack should i buy quecha forclaz 70 or forclaz 70 easyfit or anyother which is useful for other travellings also
Kindly share tips on how to lock the backpack..My emerance rucksack is a single zipper and I am unable to lock it..Since I can't carry the bag for cabin Babbage and it needs to be used for check-in baggage for air travel
Well the size depends on how many days you are trekking & for brand, it would be best to explore any Decathlon store. They have a variety and you will also get help in selecting. Also the cost is economical. I would recommend to purchase atleast a 40L rucksack. If you want to carry your own cooking gear & sleeping bag, min 60L rucksack will be reqd.
For Himalayan treks, should we be prepared to carry these backpacks with us all the time or we will be dumping these packs at a place and carry daybags during the trail?.. Sorry,am a novice... please clarify this..
If you wish to offload your backpack, this option is available at an extra cost. Indiahikes & many other trek organiser provide this facility. But this option is not available on all Treks, you must check about this while booking for a trek and also confirm it directly from the organizers (email / call) before joining the trek. If you are offloading your backpack, carry a separate 15L-20L day pack to carry your essentials, as your backpack will be available to you once your reach the campsite.
+Malhar Chaniyara Hi Malhar! Firstly, you need to plan what kind of photography you want to do and carry equipment accordingly. Avoid zoom lenses unless you are extremely keen on wildlife photography. You ought to make your gear as light as possible. It is best to carry your camera and lens in a separate bag. A light and padded sling-style bag will make the camera easily accessible. Also choose a monopod over a tripod, or carry a very light tripod that you can put into your backpack. That's how I usually carry my camera.
Thanks Swati for the tips. Another separate bag for camera to be manage with my Hiking backpack? Is it possible.? I'm in landscape and night sky photography for this trip, may be some Macro as well. I must carry my tripod since I want to capture some light-trails and time lapses.
hello, is 50L bag is enough for all essential u have packed here, PLUS SLEEPING BAG, TENT, portable alcohol stove AND MY DSLR KIT (CANON 750D, NO TRIPODS)
Not necessary too much clothes .... If you going for trek then you can't do this easily because already road are not flat on top of that you're talking about such a heavy bag......i think this is not justify according to my trek experience ...........
The backpack in this video is 55L. I'd say that's the ideal size because it gives you the flexibility to use it on shorter (4-5 days) and longer treks (10 days). Wildcraft, AdventureWorx and Deuter make good backpacks. If you're trekking with Indiahikes, I'd recommend renting our backpack. We've made this with a lot of care to be the best backpack we have used. So you'll save some bucks and you'll have an excellent backpack! You'll find it here - www.store.indiahikes.com/products/trekking-backpack
Hi Swathi Thank u for the video. For a 9-10 day trek eg Goechala i want to buy a backpack of 50-60 liters so could you please help which one is better in Quechua backpacks ?
The best thing to do is keep them with your warm layers. All of these things tend to get cold and drain out quickly (especially the power bank and batteries). So wrap them up with your fleece / woollen socks and keep them in your backpack. If you have a lot of photography equipment to pack, this video will help you - czcams.com/video/-UHSShcSVd4/video.html&t
Hi Subhajit, we usually check in our backpacks because they don't allow trekking poles, swiss knives, etc as cabin baggage. It's better to check it in than take it as cabin baggage.
You can lock the zips together. You do get locks for that. But most airports don't allow you to lock your luggage. After a security check, they lock it themselves with a tag. So there's really nothing to worry about.
What about the other items to capture your experience and share it with others .. Camera with two lens, drone, go pro gear and their batteries, power banks, chargers (thats min atleast)... I am not adding other flashy items such as gimbal, large tripod, insta 360 camera..., ...?? Now its more imp to capture memories and share on social platform and make yourselves proud...!
If you're trekking on your own, yes you need a sleeping bag. But if you're trekking with Indiahikes, we will be giving you sleeping bags, which are expedition grade and can handle up to -10 degrees. You'll find a video on how these sleeping bags are made here - czcams.com/video/5lV2IXjeQ20/video.html
A 35 litre backpack would be very small for a ten day trek. You'll definitely need something bigger. Go for a 50-55 litre backpack. If you're carrying your own tent, sleeping bags, cooking equipment, etc, then you'll need something bigger like a 65 - 70 L backpack.
Hi Shantanu, I use the Teton backpack on my treks - the one you see in this video. You'll find a video of it here - indiahikes.com/teton-scout-3400-backpack/ On another note, you'll find details on how to choose the right backpack here - indiahikes.com/choose-right-backpack-trek/
Bhai I hope you have figured it out, nevertheless, I'll say it. Most backpacks now have a torso adjustment system, I don't know about 6years back, I'm pretty new here. Also body height isn't much of a hindrance, try to keep the waist strap above th bones of your hip girdle, roughly around your navel. Then fiddle around with shoulder straps to adjust and distribute weight. Like if you are of a smaller built, keep weight on your hips fir some time by loosening the shoulder straps, then after some time shift it to the shoulders by tightening them shoulder straps. This way you'll now tire one single part of your body
Untill you get an expert advice from Swathi, checkout available backpacks at Indiahikes website. For more options, checkout Decathlon store. Now size depends on how long you will be trekking, no. of days & if you will carry your own camping & cooking gear. I would recommend a 40L backpack. If carrying your own camping gear, 60L backpack is a must. I purchased Forclaz 40L & Forclaz 60L.
Checkout Indiahikes website for the backpacks the have reviewed & available for sale/rent. For more options, checkout Decathlon store. For starters, you may choose a 30L - 40L backpack
Ideally, it should weight around 6-7 kilos. This is if you're trekking with an organisation and not carrying your own tent/sleeping bag/food. If you are, then your bag will likely be around 12-14 kilos.
Hi Swathi, thx for the informative video, not just this one but all! looking forward to the Kuari pass hike with India hikes in March. can u send me the bagpack link, where I can buy one ? my 75liters pack will be an overkill for the Kuari hike. thx
Hi, 75 litres is indeed an overkill. I would suggest you go for a Wildcraft Trailblazer 50 litre backpack. It is one the decent backpacks available in India. If you have someone coming from the USA, try and get the Teton Scout 3400. It is the best bag I've used till date. Find a review of it here - indiahikes.com/teton-scout-3400-backpack/
It's a 55L backpack. It's a Teton Scout 3400, you'll be able to find more details of it on our website where we have reviewed it - indiahikes.com/teton-scout-3400-backpack/
A 55 litre backpack would be ideal. What is your budget like? If you have a small budget, try renting a backpack? That would be better. You could try deccanmountainclub.com

Can u suggest me a rucksack under 1.8k..pls..pls...pls...preferable size is 60 Ltr.
And what about sleeping bag?
Informative. Who do you trek with? Are you with any group?
Hi Arjun, I work with Indiahikes - indiahikes.com. We are a trekking community that documents and organises treks in the Himalayas.
Which rucksack is this ??
and if I am forced to place my rucksack as checked in luggage in flights body is there any way to securely lock my back pack?
You can lock the zips together. You do get locks for that. But most airports don't allow you to lock your luggage. After a security check, they lock it themselves with a tag. So there's really nothing to worry about.
What about the other items to capture your experience and share it with others .. Camera with two lens, drone, go pro gear and their batteries, power banks, chargers (thats min atleast)... You'll find a video on how these sleeping bags are made here - czcams.com/video/5lV2IXjeQ20/video.html
Why there is not any sleeping bag or any tent and any kind of cooking things??
Well, this video is assuming you are going on an organized paid trek, like Indiahikes. So they setup the camp & provide food.
Hi Swathi. I am going to a trek to sour tal lake for 10 days. I have one 35 L back pack. Is it too small, or I should buy a new big one..
A 35 litre backpack would be very small for a ten day trek. You'll definitely need something bigger. Go for a 50-55 litre backpack. If you're carrying your own tent, sleeping bags, cooking equipment, etc, then you'll need something bigger like a 65 - 70 L backpack.
what is the price of your bagpack
Do I need 2 trekking poles or 1 is good to go, store guy told me to take 2. whats your opinion
Definitely, a 110% two poles. This video will tell you why - czcams.com/video/7QfcjogvfWo/video.html
I would say it totally depends whether you are a beginner or intermediate.
You have to drink equally from both the bottle :D :D
Hehehehe
hi i wann to ask u that what tyupe of Bag or which Brand Bag should we use for trcks

This particular backpack is 55L.
Nice 😇🙏🙏
hey... i got a 100 liter bag... I now think it is much bigger then what my body height is... How can i adjust those straps
... what are my options.

Hi Swathi,
What are the good backpacks to buy for beginners?
Untill you get an expert advice from Swathi, checkout available backpacks at Indiahikes website.
For more options, checkout Decathlon store.
Now size depends on how long you will be trekking, no. of days & if you will carry your own camping & cooking gear.
I would recommend a 40L backpack.
If carrying your own camping gear, 60L backpack is a must.
I purchased Forclaz 40L & Forclaz 60L.
Under 1000 kaunsa brand top class product according to you
I guess you meant under 10,000?
If so, checkout Indiahikes website, or Decathlon store.
Which backpack is good to buy
Checkout Indiahikes website for the backpacks the have reviewed & available for sale/rent.
For more options, checkout Decathlon store.
For starters, you may choose a 30L - 40L backpack
approximately how much did your bag weigh
Hi Kamna, a well packed trek bag weighs around 7-8 kg
Hey. How much will this bag probably weigh after putting everything you've put into the bag in the video?
Ideally, it should weight around 6-7 kilos. This is if you're trekking with an organisation and not carrying your own tent/sleeping bag/food. If you are, then your bag will likely be around 12-14 kilos.
Hi Swathi, thx for the informative video, not just this one but all! looking forward to the Kuari pass hike with India hikes in March. can u send me the bagpack link, where I can buy one ? my 75liters pack will be an overkill for the Kuari hike. thx

It's a 55L backpack. It's a Teton Scout 3400, you'll be able to find more details of it on our website where we have reviewed it - indiahikes.com/teton-scout-3400-backpack/
Hi swathi, can you suggest a affordable 55-65 litre rucksack please. I am going from brahmatal trek, what size should I buy?
A 55 litre backpack would be ideal. What is your budget like? If you have a small budget, try renting a backpack? That would be better. You could try deccanmountainclub.com
Swathi Chatrapathy My budget is around Rs. 2500. What do you think about these mounttrack backpacks which are available on amazon? They are in my budget, plus they come with 2 year warranty and features described are as good as other expensive backpacks
