    this merc looks like a happy old car that probably last for ever

      People always have a pleasant reaction towards it. No negative vibes at all.
      It’s a relatively simple car and maintenance is easy. As long as it’s maintained it hopefully should last forever.

    • @DyleupWestburn
      @DyleupWestburn  Před 3 lety

      No, the oil filters are not interchangeable between the gasoline and Diesel engines.

    • @jackuzi8252
      @jackuzi8252 Před 3 lety +1

      The filter for the diesels is like twice that size. And the oil comes out black as tar.

    Hello. I have a w123, 230 (1976) gas&LPG. is this oil good for my car?

    • @DyleupWestburn
      @DyleupWestburn  Před 3 lety +1

      It would likely be just fine, I’m not as familiar with the older carbureted versions. Oil weights also vary by climate as well, always check your owners manual to be sure

    Great informative video, thanks! An oil pressure question. I have an ‘83 230ce so same engine as the car in your video. My pressure reader on the dash reads about 0.5 bar while the engine is idling and only gets to about 2 bar ever otherwise but generally stays around 1/1.5 bar for standard city driving. Is this normal?

    • @DyleupWestburn
      @DyleupWestburn  Před 3 lety

      That’s a good question, Mine always maxes out the gauge while driving and sits around 2 bar while idling. What oil weight do you use? I use 15w40.

    • @DyleupWestburn
      @DyleupWestburn  Před 3 lety +1

      @@brianconlon6030 Lower oil pressure could be an indication of worn bearings or even your oil pump. As long as you have pressure and check your oil often, you should be just fine.

      it could be also the oil viscosity that you're using, or the fact that you may be using synthetic oil. Mineral oil is the best for this cars.

  • @damiansmigielski

    Why you use oil for diesel engines in petrol engine????

    • @DyleupWestburn
      @DyleupWestburn  Před 3 lety +1

      I did my research on the recommended oil weight and it varies in between 5w-40 to 15w40 depending on climate. I only drive it in warm weather and it’s a high mileage engine so I prefer a thicker oil.
      Yes it has a gasoline engine and it coincidentally shares the same oil weight as many Diesel engines.

      @booobies11111 Před 2 lety

      I wondered the same thing. I use Rotella t4 in my motorcycle that shares the wet basket clutch with the engine. I use Rotella t4 because it does not have friction modifiers. For a gasoline engine you would want these additives. I would recommend Liqui Moly 2043 with m0s2 friction modifier. Works wonders for the old m102 engines.
