- The Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg houses the largest model railways in the world. Located in the historic warehouse district it has been one of Hamburg's greatest tourist magnets for many years, which has already captivated millions of visitors.
On the 1499 square meter facility area, there are over 15 kilometers (*) of miniature tracks on which around 1040 digitally controlled model trains travel to the Swiss Alps. You fly to Las Vegas via the Miniatur Wunderland Airport. In our documentary, we looked at the owners of the mini-world while planning and tinkering.
* in 1:87 scale (nominal size H0 - would correspond in reality to about 1340 kilometers of tracks).

What's the name of the soundtrack at the end of the documentary?
How can I get in touch with you people
WELT Documentary vi
I would love to work here...forever
hej
You can tell the modelers love their work by the little humorous touches here and there. I LOLed when I saw that the Pope was watching the Life of Brian! Excellent Documentary! Prost!
at 0:37 there are a pair mating... Lol

Ultimate model train lovers fantasy. I've been there in 2018, 3 hours were not enough to see everything!
Nowhere close to enough. In three hours it is literally a rush job to even check out each section for a few minutes.
I happen to live in Hamburg and have visited the Wunderland around 10 times. It's so big that no documentary can show. Although you can go through the whole thing in one day, it's still impossible to discover everything that's in there. Even after all the times I have been there I see new things every time.
ive got to see this in person some day! i could spend all day in there.. damn, these people are creative geniuses. that would be such a awesome job.
I visited in 2015. It blew me away. It is the finest exhibit of model building in the World. Well done!
It seems just INSANE with all the detail. Got a friend in the city, maybe I can manage a bike trip from Finland. xD
I visited this place a few years ago and I'm still awestruck by the details. Such an amazing place. You have to visit it if you're there.
This place is on the highest tier of my bucket list. I'd wish this layout was another dimension and I had a portal to travel to it.
Went there 2 years ago, really worth the trip, make reservations beforehand, when you really want to travel there one day.
You just need an Ant-Man suit. 😄
There is also a behind the scenes tour I can highly recommend.
And also, they serve delicious Currywurst in the cafeteria.
It is something worth seeing once, but be forewarned that it is not a realistic layout. It is much closer to a series of separate toy train layouts shoehorned into cramped spaces inside a warehouse. For myself with an interest in realistic modeling of RR operations, it was disappointing to see in person - what I could see of it. If you want to see better model railroads made with accuracy and sweeping vistas, there are a number of these layouts around the world that are open to the public. Some are shpwn here on YT on the Pilentum channel.
I was there in 2017 when they just finished the Italy section. Loved it!!!! I was there all day long and still didn’t get to see everything. Can’t wait to go back again.
Just mind blowing and impossible to fully describe the entire network of technology required to build , maintain and operate this entire layout.Just lost for words but thank you for sharing unforgettable.
I've dreamed about layouts like this since I was a kid. Amazing!
as a train enthusiast. this is still a dream to me. .. i hope to visit this place some day.
WOW!!! Truly incredible! The skills of all the dedicated people that have and still are creating this masterpiece are just amazing. My hat's off to all those involved with this magnificent work of art, engineering, and craftsmanship!!
First saw the creation on DW tv -19 years ago and man have they grown-better than theme parks -here there is something to learn and enjoy at the same-God bless their future plans.Welt you have done it again, keep the shows coming.
Wunderland Hamburg is beyond words. As a model railroader, I am totally amazed at the details in this Wonderful Place. My home N Scale layout is only 10’ x3’ with an upper shelf of 8’ x3’ and just trying to plan what is going to be included is keeping me busy. I cannot imagine the time and details involved in Wunderland, but just my CZcams tour is educating me for some of the details I want. My next trip to Europe will definitely include a visit and I am sure I will need several days to explore it all.
Round of applause for the amazing cinematography!!!!!
I want to go to Germany so badly just for the sole purpose of seeing this beautiful place at least once in my lifetime.
@Fisher Man I don't have the money to do that or a passport right now. I'll certainly see what I can do.
This is a masterpiece of technology, art, and hard work!
Yes. It is Made in Germany.
This is so cool. Ive been to Munich Germany once in Aug 1990. I hope to go back to Germany and see this. I'm sure it makes people feel like a kid again. Thanks.
typical model railroader.....the layout is never finished
The bridge, that they were talking about in the last minutes, has now been finished for learly 2 weeks. But the other side won't house England/Scotland (at least for now) but South America. Southern France/Provence is also nearly finished, but Monaco with the Formula 1 racing track is taking some time.
I have a 3x8 meter HO-Model with 34 Trains. TAKE THIS WONDERLAND! ;)
This is one of those marvelous ideas that have gone to the extreme for the amusement of the masses. Thank you very much for the visual and sensory overload. Magnificent!!!!
I'm blown away!!! Hats off to everyone who worked on this!!! Truly amazing!!!
A work of love and a true example. Fantastic!
I was there just before the airport section opened. It was all behind curtains and being finished. But even without that it was more than you can take in with one visit. I spent two days and still don’t think I got it all. An amazing placement
This place is so amazing. I really want to visit one day!
Until then I love watching the videos they produce for their CZcams channel.
This blows my mind. You could run a quarter of a marathon and still have a couple kilometers to go.
First, thank you for this great video and documentary! Although I will never likely get to see Wunderland in real life, this is the next best thing. Maybe even better! As you give a great insight to the personalities and all the work involved. Thouroughly enjoyable!
Amazing truly amazing. I'm blown away from the attention to details.
Wow, I really need to go see this. I could believe it will take a few days to enjoy all of it.
This video really deserves more views ! All of this is impressive !
It's a wonder of the world.
What a magnificent way to use one's creative talents - a great job for artists.
Incrediable masterpiece, simply amazing thought process engineering done here. Amazingly complex, but beautifully designed.
Gotta love German engineering, always incrediable. I'm sure over time we will be blessed with even more.
one of the brothers wrote all the software that controls everything himself. an amazing job
Going to Hamburg and seeing that Wonderland of trains and miniature models is on my bucket list I want to see it so bad not only is it on my bucket list but it's the third thing on my bucket list and I've already done one of the two above it. Please keep up the good work and make it bigger before I get there but I will come and see it.
I have been lucky enough to go twice. It's superb. Difficult to praise it enough.
Amazing people. I would love to see this in person. But i know i never will. To far away. And i don't air travel. But it's one the most beautiful thing's i have ever seen. What a marvel.
All that painstaking work paid off. Awesome layout! Can't wait to visit Hamburg and see the layout someday.
Just incredible! Speechless.
Seeing this one of a kind, how I wished I am a part of the making. I love every detail. And it takes the 3 D's such as Dedication, Discipline and Determination to accomplished something like that. It's truly a masterpiece!👏👏👏
Breathtaking Layout in HO.
for gods sake DO NOT let Gomez Adams into the building....lol love the doc, blown away
Great dedication from the professional modelers and technicians!
This is being extremely extremely nit picky, cause this is just absolutely amazing. The only thing, only thing I would maybe like to see in the future are small cut outs inside parts of the builds for vistors to basically be ground level inside of the city. The builders and techs put such incredible detail that, from a distance you can't always appreciate. But a cleared dome that would allow vistors to basically just be place in say the middle of a busy street and have a full 360 view would just be icing on the cake.
I can not wait to visit here and just experience this first hand.
You can watch them work on the newest Projects or refurbish some old stuff, do some cleanings and much more. I believe there is even a specialtour you can book to get some looks behind the scenes (rly nor sure bout this one). And there is YT (fe) were they show some stuff.
:)
I love that the Concorde is in the airport!
Absolutly amazing , The layout and documentary should be on television everywhere in the world! and in the gunis book of world records, "really!"+
Absolutely amazing
26:20 "You get used to it. I don't even see the cables. All I see is access road, housing estate, streetlight..."
Amazing talent and an exceptional layout. Thank you.
An amazing accomplishment and in relatively so little time for such a monumental work.
Juat amazing. Great documentary. Really get a sense of thier pride. It's magical
I love it. This is a GREAT model show case.
Holy cow - now that is impressive .... and awesome 👏
Visited this last year. Fantastic! Well worth the visit.
I want to cry ,this mind blowing
What an absolute Masterpiece 👌🏽
I would love to go there one day.
Well done!👌🏽
Yes, it is Made in Germany.
Been here in 2017, a dream come true for me you become a kid the moment you enter this place... above all when it comes to perfection ,it's a simple answer ,they are germans and they are damn good at engineering.. The founder's further ideas he mentioned at the end was just a proof of how the germans think ahead of everyone else.....
Omg this is so stunning how much they have worked for a whole model ! I went to Hamburg in 2017 but didn't visit this place, hope to go back and have a chance to explore !! 🇩🇪🇩🇪
World's one of the best video youtube have!!! I really enjoyed it.
Wonderland ist einst der beste Dinge überhaupt. Für alle groß und klein dies ist ein Highlight.
This creation is the best, I was privileged enough to see it once a month since i crew up there 😄
Definitely am going to add wunderland to my bucket list!👌
Italy came out awesome, someday I will get there and see everything. :-)
This is my favourite been watching this being built years back and learnt abit of german
😁
That is on mind blowing train set
Fantastic documentary! I smoked a fat joint last night and watched this - truly a work of art and a labor of love.
Imagine being smoking a joint and having that place to your self when it's in nighttime mode. I could spent an hour in the Alps alone.
I would be the happiest person being able to work in this fantastic world!
This is EXTRAordinary!!!
Incredible modelling indeed!
Amazing, wonderful, greetings from Mexico!!!
The pope watches the “Life of Brian” best line!
Absolutely mind-blowing.
Great hobby for the lockdown
Amazing doc. Can't wait for it to reach Scotland.
Fantastic displays. Totally outstanding.
WOW...\i never heard of this place before. \it's incredible!!!! I MUST see this in person!
When they were installing a new building and the narrator said “one false move and he can destroy an entire district” that got me 🤣🤣🤣
I LOVE YOUR DOCUMENTRIES
And Gaston is a Sea Shepherd to ! Bravo !
Simply amazing !!!
Maravilhoso mundo fantástico em miniaturas, showwwwww.
The Wild West town was a great touch. Everybody loves the steamers for their moving parts, even if they don't fit in with their surroundings, so having areas set in centuries past is a great way of showing them off.
Or you could go forward, and do a 22nd century Mars colony, with tunnel borers boring away, Hyperloops zipping about, and rocketships blasting off from the spaceport.
As one famed model railway enthusiast said about HIS masterpiece "Disneyland will never be finished so long as there is imagination left in the world."
Absolutely stunning!
Absolutely Amazing !!!
1:56 imagine being in the stands in that stadium at that moment
excellent video, thank you
Frigging amazing... Fun in ANY language...
I will someday go there to see this!
Excellent.
So much dedication
Habe die erst auf Deutsch geguckt! Macht immer echt Spass.
When a miniature world is more developed than most of my country's cities combined
Umm, #@$&ing incredible, and 3 cheers for the model makers and Germany.
this place looks amazing
0:38 mans bussin dem CHEEKS
Hehe, there are literally dozens of 'cheeky' scenes hidden throughout the exhibition.
So you should have 'that' talk with your kids either before, or at least soon after visiting here.
:D
@@RustyDust101 I'm actually glad they didn't shy away from realism.
truly amazing. they were all profesionally talented on their respective designated works of arts. world famous landmarks seats only in one place and makes them comes to life, alive and well-visited attraction in germany.🇩🇪
Thanks' for sharing this to us. WOW! I really enjoyed this. I hope the virus has not delayed your work. Keep it going.
Go visit their CZcams channel. They really upped their game during the lockdown and revamped some older parts of the facility.
THANK YOU FOR SHARING
it is safe to say most areas you replicated in Italy are 2000+ years old mixed with modern. Neither should change anytime soon. Epic.
The more I watch the more I get blown away. This is the coolest f*cking thing.
I would love to see a time lapse of them building the whole entire thing from start to finish
That is great
