She is a good singer...........that's it. There's literally nothing impressive about her vocally. She does not have a unique way of singing, she does not take risk. Shes a good singer with a good sounding voice. That's all she's ever been. Singers like Kelly Clarkson take more risk and have a more distinct way of singing and singers like Carrie Underwood have far more impressive vocal abilities yet I've never heard the general public speak of their talent the way they speak of Adele.

The way she can tell a tale, sing about her own experience and memories and make you feel like it’s a vivid one of your own is.... incredible. But all that aside, as you said, she has been placed on a vocal pedestal she never asked to be put on, and she isn’t at that level, but for what she is... she is an incredible artist and singer who can make you cry like almost no other

But some of the greatest albums of all time have been made by less-than-stellar vocalists, while some of the greatest vocalists out there don’t have a single legitimately good album (or even song, lol) to their name. Adele has a really gorgeous, soulful, warm tone and a middleweight voice (not too brash or overpowering and not too dainty) that's strong enough to compliment her storytelling; and I think that's enough for her to sell her music.
I think many people in general do still love that era of power ballads and those diva belters. Since Adele is one of the biggest artists from this generation that reminds them of that era, she's inevitably being compared to them. Adele's tremendous commercial success has led to her being put next to the musical greats or the top notch vocalists because like most of them, she has a distinctive voice and a consistently quality musical output. However, it's unfair to those legends and Adele herself because 1. they're trained differently and have more polished technique / better musicianship 2. Adele knows her strengths and limitations, never claiming to be more than a singer-songwriter.
Nonetheless, I think she has a lovely voice that can still grow in range and versatility (there are many singers who enter their vocal primes after 30 or even 40) and hope that she will continue to achieve success with her upcoming release.

While I think a mix as light as that vocal coach demonstrated would't work for her, I think someone like Stevie Mackey could do wonders for her. On the 25 album she showed a bit more vocal ambition, but I think she wasn't ready to perform that material night after night, let alone the material of the vocal trinity.

The quality of her song-writing, the musicianship of her compositions and recordings, her unique and unmistakeable voice, and her authenticity. You can argue about details of her technical proficiency, but what Adele does with her voice as few other artists can is communicate. That's what a voice is for, and that's how she has used hers. Star level: the golden standard (Mariah, Whitney, Beyoncé etc); A-level: good technique and minor flaws (Lady Gaga, Céline Dion, Kelly Clarkson etc); B-level: signs of vocal training but still have some flaws (Leona Lewis, Tori Kelly etc); C-level: awful technique (Sia, Xtina, Adele etc); D-level: hopeless /aka beautiful gowns/ (Jlo, Selena Gomez).

She has one of the best low registers right now and a beautiful falsetto, her belting can sound forced at times but it highlights the lyrics in her songs that are meant to passionate, desperate and sad so it brings to light more emotional singing which is her forte.
I do think someday she will start writing more happy and upbeat songs and when that day does come she’ll probably have to change up her technique a bit to be honest.

She is changing now. Her voice is way better in Album 30 than in the past. She can control her breath better. Her technique is improving. By the way where does the clip at 4:52 come from? Could anyone tell me please!

Adele is unique. In many ways only the truly great singers can cover the best of Adele’s songs and capture her emotions fully. Whitney and Aretha can do it. Not sure about the others tho.

A couple of years ago she left 270000 fans in the cold at 3am and lost her voice completely for the second time in her carreer. That should tell you enough about her technique. It's a shame cause she has an amazing voice.

it's the tone. it puts here above anyone else tbh jut bacause of that tone of her voice. it is full and conveys what she is singing. and that what makes Adele the superstar that she is.

I think people’s standards are ridiculous when it comes to judging singers though. Adele isn’t in the same league as Whitney, Celine and Mariah but how many people are? There are so many pop singers today that just barely hit the notes they’re singing.
Plus writing songs that people constantly remember is not easy at all and she does it all the time.

I would consider her in the Mariah/Whitney category. While she’s not the one for those super high notes or anything, she’s got an incredible range she can easily maintain that most artists cannot. Her voice is so iconic that when you hear her song, you KNOW it’s Adele. Her songs like All I Ask and To Be Loved are incredibly difficult to perform as originally written and many artists with those higher ranges still struggle as they don’t have the power Adele has

The thing is…she’s the perfect mix of Raw and Refined. This is the voice that so many of us need to hear right now. Throughout history different voices reflect different themes/emotional desires of the collective consciousness…even with the tones of their voice.

Its weird that Xtina didnt destroyed her voice after 20 Years of horrible vocal technique and Adele destroyed her voice that she needed surgery after like 4 Years of career

from where is the snippet on 4:53? i want to listen to more what they have to say but can't find it anywhere.

  • @sortingoutmyclothes8131

To be honest the clips where you said her belting was bad sounded really good to me. I didn't really understand what you were commenting on there. Maybe it was too technical for me.
