I was a little confused about the ending too- like I saw the fact that he had never had a niece coming (and I briefly thought that maybe he HAD had a niece and she'd died and THAT'S what he was trying to remind himself if with the string), but I don't really understand why the creature would be pretending to be his niece while also doing the string thing?

@@PhenDosSantos *I LOVED "Desperation"!!!* HIGHLY underrated Book..and Tak is one of the most, *IF not THE most,* underrated King villains ever! Flagg gets an invincible credit, BUT NOT Tak?? Even Pennywise could be destroyed, but not Tak..people need to slap some respect on that! I did read "Regulator's" right afterwards..it gets super out there (to say the least)..however I hated I had to relearn all the character's names with different personas 😂 granted there are some somewhat duplicate characters ("don't call me cookie and I won't call you cake" 😂), but it IS in an alternate universe..Tak to me in "Regulators" wasn't exactly the same Tak in "Desperation" though, if that makes sense..I feel like it was Tak's twin brother, *almost* identical, but not the same 🤷 In "Regulators" I really liked the "kids drawing" aspect of it, but I could see how that wouldn't be someone's cup of tea..I think parts dragged on a bit while I didn't feel that was the case at all with "Desperation", even the dilapidated theatre description entertained me..I absolutely loved it! It would be a hell of a movie if they made it, although a mini-series on HBO would be much much better, to get it right..I ALWAYS love how King writes from character's minds, how you get a glimpse of their POV (it definitely makes you feel bad for Cujo in that way)..Tak is just pure evil beyond what we can really comprehend..Tak being angered by the dead little girl being given some respect by David even infuriated Tak..Tak hates humans, hates love, hates respect, and a character that seems right out of the bowels of Hell (which honestly could be the case since you don't know how far its dwelling goes)..I just wanted to share, for whatever it's worth *=)* EXCELLENT book though!! Couldn't recommend it enough *=)*
@@katelynthewhitewerewolf6376 it was somewhat entertaining if you've not read the Book..but it was an absolutely terrible miniseries if you have read it..so many key elements completely left out or ignored..different ending, characters left out, and pivotal moments completely excluded..in the Book you actually hear the characters thoughts but not in the miniseries..AND you get to hear the evil entity's thoughts..you get to hear what Tak is actually thinking, which makes it all the more terrifying and messed up..there were so many terrifying details left out of the miniseries, I mean horrific stuff..if they remade it today, according to the Book, it would probably be NC-17 😂 it gets crazy AF!

My only complaint is Sam always being scared. In some situations it's warranted even though he must realize how thick his plot armour is by now. You can only see weird shit for so long until you become numb to it. He should have long by now but he's still scared of something like an odd noise that he doesn't know so hurt him.
I'm super late but I've thought about it too. I view it as how your brain works in a dream or hallucination. Like, no matter how strange the situation, it will always feel real and dangerous :]
