I’ve been with Traktor for years, the reason I chose Traktor was because Serato was always promoted for the DJs that were scratch DJs and Traktor was for those who just love to blend music especially House music and get creative with the remix decks. Like always it’s all about preference, both of these softwares are amazing in their own right. Thank God for choice. Play on my peeps!

I have been using Traktor since 2000 when it first came out. Their evolution is just amazing.... DVS quality, effects quality, UI, customization for me is the best. Yes, if you like Traktor stick to Traktor designed controllers NI ones or something like Denon MC6000.

I use both. Started off with Serato, but Traktor seem too always be my go too while i am on the go because of the on board mixing controls. And you dont necessarily need hardware to start djing with Traktor_which saves you money starting out for the new guys. In conclusion when playing house music **Traktor** is my go to. HipHop/ R&B / Afrobeats / Dancehall **Serato**.

Serato has better library management (smart crates) and offers support for video. Traktor allows for greater creativity (remix & stems decks) and offers better UI & hardware personalization. It generally comes with more functionality out of the box, which also means Serato is a bit easier to learn.

I got Serato intro with my controller. But almost immediately decided to upgrade to Serato DJ Pro. It's never let me down before. So I stick by my choice. I do however, recommend the expansions like pitch 'n time and FX. But in the end choosing between your digital dj platform software is a lot like choosing between cars. They'll all get you from A to B, but you just have to learn to drive the one of your choosing.

You are the only person that said the correct thing about Traktor. It is about creativity. Not just basic Dj-ing. Traktor needs to add. Smart crates and smart lists. And a plug a play functionality with most of the hardware that's out there today. One thing I think that was missed in your comparison. That Traktor can be mapped to most of the controllers That a out there. That is what I had to do. Anyway great comparison. Thank you.

I switched to Serato over a year ago, due to the fact that all my DJ homies use Serato so it was a hassle to plug in and play my sets in between theirs. I also felt that Traktor left the vinyl/scratch users who use DVS hanging. They began to make controllers without jog wheels and started to cater to the EDM DJs highly. It took them forever to update and go back to including all format DJS to use their system. I will say, though Traktor has a solid system that rarely showed glitches or crashed, since switching to Serato DJ I have had the program crash multiple times, get stuck, or just nonresponsive with my Roland 505 controller. But until I can show up to a club or venue and plug into any mixer with Traktor, I'm gonna stay with Serato.

      @djaztlan3271 Před 5 lety

@@rvallozzi One reason I started with Traktor was it affordability for sure and I think Traktor's ability to make a sound grid that is spot on is great as well. It would be great to see when mixers and other products will not be so software regulated. Meaning that a DJ with any platform can rock the party without having to be worried if the mixer or DJ hardware supports your software. I think Denon is trying to test the waters, but it's still very far away for DJs to buy in.

    1) If you're using a Numark NV I or II, Serato forces you to prepare tracks before you can start djing with them otherwise your beat grids won't show up on the NV's screens. So this means no track preparation on the fly if you're using an NV.
    2) Slicer mode in Serato only works when the track is playing; slices don't work unless the track is playing which messes up you're creativity. Traktor allows you to use slicer (freeze mode) regardless if the track is playing or not.
    Traktor for the win.

The pricing on Serato is wrong. It‘s 129 if you don‘t have SDJ Pro specific hardware. But if you have it‘s free.
And he also should have mentioned that SDJ has subscription plans.

Serkan Kocak.... You mean if I were to buy a certified Serato DJ mixer then the actual software for Serato would be completely free of charge?? Also, would I have to buy the optional DVS, FX and P'NT or is that also included?

yes in a way that serato is tied to your hardware and if you want to use it on another piece of kit, lets say with a pioneer club mixer, you have to actually buy a REAL licence. i learned this the bad way when i bought the DJ-808, thinking i would get the software for free like how pioneer gives away the software with their controllers with no stupid restrictions like that.
I sold the 808 btw and switched to traktor.

TBH, I've never used Serato personally, just seen it in effect on different occasions. I've been with Traktor since the 1st Final Scratch and have never had a reason to change. I just recently upgraded to Traktor Pro Scratch 3, but now my laptop has been trippin' so I can't give an honest opinion yet. Stay tuned

Serato DJ Pro is only $129 if you have entry level hardware for Serato DJ Lite. If you have a DVS mixer like the Rane 72 or Pioneer S9, the full version of Serato is unlocked for free and the DVS plugin is not needed. Pro level controllers like the DDJ-SX3 and NS7III also unlock the full version of Serato without having to pay the $129.

Haven't used Tracktor in about 6 years, but I absolutely LOVED Traktor, but their lack of support for aftermarket hardware made me switch to Serato. If they could, or would make their software work with virtually everything, like Virtual dj, I would most likely switch back in a minute. I bought a Numark NS6II when they were first released and HAD to switch to Serato, thinking that within five to six months, someone would have come out with a mapping for it......... here I am several YEARS later, still waiting. Ready to buy a new controller, but not satisfied with any of the hardware that works with Traktor. 🙁

Personally I like Traktor audio engine more because it has more equalizers, emulated-digitalized of course. Perhaps this feature is unnecessary if you use mixers, but it is useful when you are using a sound card either from the computer, external or a controller. Since this widens the range of genres and styles that you can mix. And Serato seems to me more limited in this sense, Traktor is more usefull for me cause my dj style.

Started djeng with 1200’s Technics no different in Serato just save u from carrying crates of vinyls. I don’t see any technological advancement compared to Traktor Dj2 which it has Bar Sync which I think Traktor Pro 3 doesn’t even have, I love that you can concentrate on creativity rather than trying to get the right beat sync which Serato and Traktor Pro 3 is missing from Traktor DJ 2.

You didn't mention that Traktor still does not have flexible beatgrids. For me that is a huge reasenot not to use it. And I'm not even DJing music with live drumming. I play only 4/4 electronic music. But still, some songs I have change tempo and I really can't stand my beatgrid markers not aligning with the actual beats.

Well I'm confused about the prices quoted in this video for getting serato DJ pro... Because if you have bought officially supported hardware, serato DJ pro is free.
And depending on what hardware you have bought, some of the add on packages are free, too.
Like for example, I have the rane sl3 (bought second hand) and that gives me serato dj pro and serato DVS for free (free download and no subscription fee).
So the costs of serato don't stack up as high as you've shown here - or at least, certainly not in all circumstances.

Having used both, I think Serato are very lucky to be where they are. It’s the most expensive option and has the least software development. They are very slow to keep up with latest operating systems and just forget about it you’re looking to get an new M1 Apple product. They’ve barely kept up with the previous OS. The MIDI reassignment is hideous and restrictive. However, it does have stability on its side but other than that, I don’t get the hype.
