- Hello Everyone! in this tutorial we will learn how to create a realistic 3D terrain from geographic data using Blender add-ons then using it in Twinmotion.
Let's get started.
Here are the links to download all tools needed:
BlenderGIS
github.com/domlysz/BlenderGIS
Blender
www.blender.org/download/
First, you will need to use Blender which is free open-source software and you can download the latest version from the link in the description.
After you download Blender, head to this website through the link in the description. Click on the code button and choose (download as a zip file).
Please note that you will not need to unzip this file. Keep it as it is. Now, open Blender, and delete everything in the scene.
Go to edit, preferences, Add-ons, and choose to install.
Then navigate to find the zip file you just downloaded and then put a check in the check-box beside the add-on.
Click on the arrow and assign a cash folder. That is all and you can close the window.
You will find a new tab called GIS. click and choose web geodata base map.
Make source = Google and Layer = Satellite and press OK.
Now, you will see a map, press G keyboard and type in the first input your desired location and make the zoom level about 15.
Now wait until the map is downloaded and if you are happy with the result press E or repeat until you find the location you want.
After pressing E, you will see a cropped map. Now again click on the GIS tab and choose web geodata, but this time we choose get elevation (SRTM) choose the first server and press OK.
That is all, we have now a 3d realistic terrain inside Blender. Just apply the modifiers and export as obj or fbx and use it in whatever 3d software you like.

Great work
Great, very useful thank you! I always went the longer way with it. Also used the university's OpenTopography data, but did it before only in Max. With Microdem extracting the data to put on a high poly lvl plane in max.
That is great 👌 thanks for watching 👋👋
Awesome! Thank you!
You are welcome 😊
Amazing Tutorial, thank you !
Thanks for watching 👋
Muchas gracias mi amigo
this is super useful, thanks !
I'm happy to hear that 👌🖐🖐 thanks for watching
Subhanallah, thank you very much for this, really great share dear friend
You are welcome. Thanks for watching this video 🖐🖐
Your job is amazing! Does it works with buildings?!? Is it possible model my neighborhood, for example?
is there a certain reason why my landscape has no colour to it? i exported it into wavefront, fbx, etc.. but the result is the same
Una pregunta porfavor. Cómo podría colocar un modelo en esa superficie?
Es decir se puede georeferencial un modelo importado con alguna precisión alta o media?
Muchas gracias ❤
Hi. Thanks for this reallhy great! How can you get bigger chunk of terrain? Seems to be this is limited to the recatangle you zoom into. What if you want more of the surrounding area?
Hello Amin. I really don't know, but tou can try capture multiple regions and join them? Or maybe full screen on 4k ?
Great content, but I find that the setting for the export on .OBJ is missing and the import on Twinmotion is missing too.
Thank you. Please note that this content released long time ago, so, make sure to use the same plugin and software versions.
Assalamualikum I have followed the steps and have the FBX file visible in imported landscapes but i cannot see it in the background I am still stuck with the normal demo background. YOu miss teh part where you handle thefile in Twinmotion, so it jumps to already in media image image 5 localisation/background...? Can you help please?
Alykum Al Salam,
This method has nothing to do with background or landscape. You just need to import the 3d model as a mesh. Please double check the size as it might be imported very huge or too small. If you need further assistance, please contact me here:

Great! Thank you! Why can't I see the zip files in Blender? Only the folder is visible. What should I do?!
Thank you. Are you sure that you have activated the add-on in blender?

can you help?
(E) not i. Hope that helps you 🙏
Hello, I tried to export the terrain into obj/fbx and the map is missing :( Would you be able to help with this problem?
Hi, please check this video and let me know how if it works. czcams.com/video/kEP34CbPWUo/video.html
@@MohamedSallam thank you so much! I can do it now! You're awesome!
You are welcome 🖐happy to hear you got it done 👌👌
Thanks for the video. Blender ask for APi key. Wher do I find such a key?
Shouldn't ask for that if you choose the exact versions of the software and add-ons. It is older versions but that is working for now
The terrain changes as you approach and move away from the scene. When viewed from a distance and up close, the terrain is completely different.
How to fix it?
Thanks
It might have something to do with LOD? Check if you can change these settings in twinmotion. Thanks
@@MohamedSallam Try to describe to me how to do it Thanks
Hello, I followed all the steps, but the map did not appear in the blender viewport, how can I fix it?
Hi, I'm away from computer right now, but try to change the satellite provider from google to something else. Try all options and one of them will work. Sorry can't remember exactly which one
ya salam alik ya sallam !
