    The reason that it is important for people to believe that homosexuality is chosen is because before something can be seen as being wrong it first must be seen as being chosen and therefore subconciously worthy of contempt and hatred through the stone of subjective comparison.

      You're correct. A large portion of my fellow Christians must believe we homosexuals chose our orientation in order to justify their hatred. No matter how innocent sounding are their motives to understand us, it is obvious they are presuming from the beginning that homosexuality is an error and that it is against God's law. Those who feel that way have forgotten that His Law is Love, not reproducing our species.

    The description of homosexuality as a lifestyle is a blatent oversimplification of human sexuality in general and homosexuality in particular. Such indoctrination of the collective societal psyche is paramount to the self validating delusion of heterosexuality possessing moral validity. The reason that we never hear the term " heterosexual lifestyle" is because there is no need to catogorize heterosexuality with such inherent connotative oversimplification in order to subconciously justify contempt and hatred through subjective comparison

      I think that it is not a need to know the cause of it but trying to overcome the biases and misconceptions and common questions that Christians who really want to show love and the gospel but cannot get over these questions. It is just as confusing for Christian parents as it is for the teen who comes out. It is a journey. For everyone. And I think that sometimes, people who live the homosexual lifestyle can be a little selfish in being only consumed with how it affects them and not everyone else. I won't force you to be something that you are not but you have to allow me a bridge of understanding so that dialogue can happen. Sexuality is attached to biology. It is natural to want to know if this is something that occurs biologically at birth or if people are groomed into this. It is the same nature vs nurture question we have been wrestling with since the beginning of time. Parents are always ridden with guilt especially because there are no handbooks on what to do if your son or daughter is gay; the solution is not just hugs and kisses. And it is not fair to not allow others an opportunity to speak while seeking understanding. I am against rudeness, I am against legalism, I am against hate. But I am against them from both sides. And irregardless of how I feel or the other person feels, God's truth will always remain. My problem with the guy interviewing is that... he doesn't seem to be asking other genuine questions. Just very cut and dry. I would have used that opportunity to share my doubts, express my fears, my wonders, my guilt, my imperfections and sincerely ask for better ways to address this to show love and dialogue and to be effective in sharing the gospel entirely.

      It's really the gays who are HOPING there is a gay gene so they can say "I can't help it - this is the way God made me" which is blasphemous. We ALL have at least one "besetting sin" that we have struggled with long-term and, even as true born-again Christians, we may battle this sin till the day Jesus calls us Home. But worldlings (those controlled by Satan) are telling the LGBTQ crowd that their behavior is NOT a sin, so therefore there is nothing to deal with, as they march like lemmings into a godless eternity. Don't call me homophobic* for loving these folks too much to see them plunged into Hell. *-phobic means "afraid" or "fearful" and I am neither afraid or fearful OF the LGBTQ folks but truly I am afraid FOR their souls.

Such as "you are saying its a choice !". My feelings is that Christopher is gay , however because of his profile amongst "The Christian alliance" he can't be real. Otherwise they will not promote his books or have him as a "key speaker". I sincerely hope he has a partner on the "down low" and when he has achieved financial independence from the Christian mafia he can be real and live happily with his man. Be true to himself. Just as God santifies unequally yoked marriages he santifies gay ones ( my feelings). "How dare you call what I call clean unclean". If you are lead by the spirit you will sense this However if you hate gay people , you will deem it your Christian duty to stand at the door to prevent gays from getting in. So many "so-called-christians" hating on gays. Standing in the way of their salvation because like the Samaritans they are different.🤦🤷

    Homosexuality - like heterosexuality and bisexuality - is a state, condition or orientation. As such, they are morally neutral. The words homosexuality, heterosexuality and bisexuality never appear in the Bible because they were coined in 1892 by Charles Gilbert Chaddock in a translation of Richard von Krafft-Ebing's study on sexual practices.
    And this is the point: Even if one agrees that the Biblical descriptions of carnality do in fact correlate to our present-day understanding through the use of those terms, nowhere in the Bible is homosexuality itself condemned - only its practice. Nowhere in the Bible is heterosexuality itself condemned - only its practice outside of Biblical marriage.
    Failure to distinguish clearly between the state of homosexuality and its acts is sloppy thinking at best and homophobic at worst.
    It is often argued that a genetic cause of homosexuality has never been discovered. But neither has a genetic cause of heterosexuality ever been discovered.

    • @paulweidig5409
      @paulweidig5409 Před 7 lety +5

      lThere is absolutely no evidence that people are born heterosexual. No gene has ever been found to confirm that, just as no gene has ever been found that confirms one is born homosexual - or bisexual for that matter. You are again confusing homosexual orientation with homosexual behavior, a common if lamentable error of zealous, self-assured Christians.who insist on conflating the condition with the act.

    • @paulweidig5409

    • @joelhoffman7106

      Paul I think you are missing the point. One can't be a homosexual, unless they actually have sex. Otherwise, without the sex they simply have same sex attractions. You seem to acknowledge that the act of homosexual sex itself is condemned in the Bible, as is sex outside of marriage. So the sin isn't necessarily the attraction it self, but the acting out of it. This is similar to having a temptation to do wrong isn't a sin as even Jesus was tempted. Its how we chose to react to these temptations. Hope that adds some clarity.

    • @paulweidig5409
      @paulweidig5409 Před 6 lety +6

      Joel Hoffman So does that mean one cannot be “a heterosexual” unless they actually have sex? That’s ridiculous. There are plenty of heterosexual yet celibate people, including those who have never had sex, yet they remain heterosexual.
      So aside from the fact that I did not “miss the point,” the rest of your reply simply reinforces it.

    • @joelhoffman7106
      @joelhoffman7106 Před 6 lety +1

      Paul, a person with opposite sex attractions who does not have sex would simply be a person with opposite sex attractions in the same way. We (or they) may refer to themselves as heterosexual for simplicity purposes, but you can't actually be 'sexual' without the sex.
      The point that you are missing is that simply because the Bible doesn't actually use the terms heterosexual, homosexual, or any other type of sexual in the texts means nothing because these terms were not yet invented as you acknowledged. Instead it describes the act itself. It is always described in a negative light. An additional issue as Christopher points out, is that one's identity is not in their sexual preference or how they are attracted to. Unfortunately, folks have taken these terms and act like they define who they are. When one realizes that is not there idenity or what defines them, it gives them power to make the changes he does. He chose to not let his sexual attractions define him.

    It is obvious 1. that you are not gay 2. that you are an extreme Christian, trying to make everything about morality and sin.
    Being gay is not a condition you can take off "like a coat."
    One is born gay or heterosexual and while you can choose to "live in the closet", you cannot reject this God-given condition.
    Yes, gay people need to live by moral laws like everyone on the face of the earth, but the attraction that gay people have is not expendable.
    The sad reality for gay people is that when one says "gay", it is only about sexuality.
    Meanwhile it is a personality type and it is unfair to assume that all gays are out there automatically sexualizing and living to have sex.
    This is not the case with me and I know that I am not exceptional.

    We still don't know?? The bible says we are born sinners! Perhaps "You" claim not to know, however the bible says everybody knows. It doesn't matter rather you think of or commit the sin at an early age, the fact is that You once engaged it so just as God knew you would eventually commit this sin and every sin we will ever commit has no relevant factor as to rather or not you think you were born gay or of you engaged homosexuality later in life. Our thoughts are falible and we will commit each and every sin our corrupt heart desires. So the conclusion is we are born with contrary behaviors and thoughts from that of God. Psalm 51:5 we were concieved in sin from our Mothers womb. And if we don't Repent and turn to Christ we will all be found without an Apologia, without a defense. We will have no excuse as Romans 1 says..they will be given over to impurity. Repent and believe the gospel friends!

This is a perversion of the gospel message. He needs full deliverance from those desires/attractions, just as an addict or murderer or pornographer needs to be totally delivered from the base desires that drive the behavior. It’s not about behavior modification or holding yourself back from sinful acts. The actual desire to kill, steal, rape, or be attracted to the same gender needs to be rooted out by the blood of Jesus!!

Let’s extrapolate: replace “homosexual feelings” with “murderous intent” or “pedophelia”. The theological argument crumbles every time. The desire to sin is equated to sin itself - Jesus’ words, not mine. Jesus said it, it’s truth - no research or cultural relativism or pastoral caving in to modern culture needed!

    • @mountainguy7762
      @mountainguy7762 Před 6 lety +2

      Workout! Yes! Research! Seriously!
      The “truth” you speak of, is it based on the English Bible translation? Or the original Greek and Hebrew? I choose to study the Bible in Greek and Hebrew, because the original is always better than a translation OF the original, don’t you think?
      I used to be anti-gay and changed my mind because the evidence is OVERWHELMING!
      Can you show me in the Greek New Testament where the condemnation of "homosexuals" would be?? I am sure you can point it out in the English translation, but NOT in the original Greek! Because it ISN'T THERE! The word "homosexual" wasn't even in the Bible until 1946!!
      When studying passages in the Bible, we need to take into account the original author and audience, as well as the cultural context of the day. After all, we are separated by language, culture, and 2000+ years. Thus a deep dive into the Hebrew and Greek texts is essential. It is also important to understand history (looking at the past 3000 years), as well as psychology, politics, and science. Yes, even science! After all, it took science to teach us that the earth revolved around the sun and not the other way around - which appeared to be contradictory to Scripture, thus causing some to be imprisoned by the Church.
      In short, from my intense study on the subject, I am convinced that all of the same-sex passages in the Bible pertain to abusive sexual practices: gang rape, idolatry, pederasty (a type of pedophilia), etc. Please note that all of these would be equally as sinful if they were heterosexual in nature. We don’t see the “attack on gays” until the 3rd or 4th century (long after the Biblical passages were written). Thus the perspective people had about gays in the 1st century is paramount to properly understanding Romans 1, I Cor 6:9, and I Tim 1:10.
      From what I have studied, there was a LOT more homosexual activity going on in the first century than even today! Even then, such homosexual activity in and of itself was not considered bad by any of the biblical writers. Yet the abusive forms of such were bad - and thus Paul wrote what he wrote.
      I didn't just read some books to come to this conclusion, I traveled thousands of miles and researched in old archives, learned Greek and Hebrew at a master's degree level, and spent YEARS studying in order to really seek to understand what God intended from these "gay passages".
      I am serious about this because I learned that we have seen the largest amount of teen and young adult suicide in the past few decades - and guess what corresponds to that - the word "homosexual" wasn't even in the Bible until 1946, just a few decades ago. Keep in mind that before the King James Bible (1611), the German Bible was translated and it says in Lev 18:22 and 20:13 "man shall not lie with little boys as he does with a woman..." THUS pederasty (NOT homosexuality) was considered the sin in these verses as well as I Cor 6:9 and I Tim1:10.
      I am not asking you to "cave to culture", as you put it. On the contrary, I am asking you to get to the ORIGINAL meaning of these passages, rather than what CULTURE has changed them to be in the English translations!!
      It's up to our generation to fix this! May God bless you!

      grace w why did Jesus have to go down and deliver the people from Hell? Did those action indicate that God was wrong in His choices? Sincere question

      Damian Wright God made the world perfect but He gave us freedom of choice. He knew Eve and Adam would be deceived. It was planned from the beginning. Jesus took all our sin upon Him when He was put to death on the cross and He rose again after three days, fulfilling the Old Testament prophesies. When we admit we are sinners and ask Him for forgiveness, and follow Him, we have been saved from going to Hell when we die. It’s just that God knew, when He created man, and in perfect timing He sent His Son to earth as the baby Jesus, born of a virgin, to grow and preach God’s Word, and be put to death on the cross for all our sin. He rose again and that is what we celebrate on Easter Sunday. He beat death and sin and the devil. And He’s coming back again!

      J Shay you are parroting nonsense. Sadly, 98% of humans die in whatever religion they were indoctrinated as children. All gods are imaginary. The bible is mythology. There is nothing original in it. It is stolen from older traditions, including the common motif of the godman who dies and rises. Do you really think Jesus flew off a mountain to heaven? www.jesusneverexisted.com

    The bible says to kill men who have sex with men. If people followed the bible today, there would be global genocide of all gay and bisexual men. But the bible offers no earthly punishment to women who have sex with women. So, the bible is not against homosexuality overall. It just teaches mass murder of gay men. We ain't have to worry about all these hypotheticals. God's word is already written.
      God says this about sin:
      "For NO ONE can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are."
      "For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he declares sinners to be right in his sight when they believe in Jesus."
      If you can admit to yourself that you (and this literally applies to anyone else on earth) have sinned against Him and His standard and decide you'd rather follow Him than sin -- you will be set free. God's promises are true, bruh. I was once a lesbian -- God changed my life when I trusted and believed.
