  • Sommerso birds, German pottery, paint-by-numbers and pencil sharpeners at half-price? It's true! There's a lot of great deals at estate sales, if you know the tricks to getting them.
We show all these examples and more in this video, taken at an estate sale in Cheyenne, Wyoming. We're just far enough north of Denver that the antique and vintage collectors and resellers missed this sale, and we're here to reap the benefits! From Victorian Black Forest clocks and Star crocks to Venetian glass figures, there's bargains galore here, if you know how to find them.
The first step is shopping when the deals are best, and the last day of this sale should be a discount day...but it doesn't say so anywhere! That's bad news for those holding the sale, but good for our picking, since many shoppers assume the prices are still firm. We keep our ears open to hear whether they're bargain pricing today...turns out it's half-off, as shown by one lone sign that has fallen onto the floor.
The next trick is to leave no stone unturned! Closed drawers and shut doors leading to hidden merchandise are our friends, and we're not afraid to navigate a garage full of unsorted stuff that the other attendees overlook. Digging through piles of linens, looking up high and down low...these are the things that bring us cool collectibles our shoppers enjoy at prices we can easily afford for resale!
Our pile grows ever larger, with afghans, old razors and fun ephemera helping us put $300+ worth of antique and vintage goodies in the van...for only $129! We have a lot of fun along the way too, exploring the lives of the homeowners (as expressed through their collections), trying on fun fashion and seeing Wyoming's capitol city in the process. Estate sale-ing is great on half-off day!

      Hi George 👋
Great sale at half off. Dani went to one recently the door said 50% off everything, do she was digging in on the jewelry. Cashier said, Jewelry isn't half price. Dani said there's no sign and cashier said you should just know that, Jewelry is never half price. I suspect the Jewelry was never part of the estate.
Anyway... my older Brother had a reel to reel and several albums on reels. I remember Boston, Fleetwood Mac, rumors. But they used to record their bands for critique. We also used to make silent movies with Dads old Brownie 35mm and then add sound effects and music then have theater time in the barn. Too bad we didn't have video games and computers. Lol
My Grandpa was also good with the paint by numbers. Those were excellent! I don't remember if you got the afghans or not. They were in excellent shape. And the glass, I guess not .any resellers in that town or they missed that sale. Your gain for sure!

The large , West German Jasba floor vase is collectible. Jasba was founded in 1926 and ceased production of decorative ceramics in 1975. Jakob Schwanderlapp, who founded Jasba, went on to found Ceremano in 1959. Ceremono is also collectible

Hi George. The large Western German vase was made by Jasba (as marked on the bottom). Founded in 1926 they mainly produced home deco ceramics and vessels untill they branched out in the late 1950s to produce tiles. In the US their tiles were used in the facade of the Brooklyn Children’s Museum. Their vases and bowls etc. have quite characteristic glazes.

George, if you ever get a deal on crochet thread like you saw here, pick it up and I’ll buy it from you! I suspect you would’ve gotten an amazing price on this. (Not all the things are for collecting. Some are for us die hard old grandmas who want to use the stuff. Cliche, old lady knitting and crocheting in the rocking chair with a cat chasing the yarn around) it’s also the reason I’m not a customer for afghans. I make more of them than I can give away. But the old crochet thread is hard to find.
